Amazing video! Very nostalgic for me :) it reminds me of my grandmas cooking. People in the comments: what is wrong with carbs? we are past the eating disorder mentality. Everything in moderation is good, she has amazing portion sizes and everything looks healthy and balanced. What you fail to understand is that in Russian and in Europe products and food contain way less sugar than the US so we can enjoy to eat these things cos ingredients are more natural. Just look at Italy! Carbs are not the devil!
Very interesting, a lot more sweet things than I would have thought and more items with each meal but smaller portions. I like all of the soups and breads. Nice video. Dont worry about the haters, they dont know how to be happy. You be you little sister.
Thank you😘
Russia has about the 3rd highest rate of diagnosed diabetes in the world and probably many undiagnosed cases.
@@mfcabrini Statistics with official link please...
I am not hater but whats wrong with this family . I am Russian , where is pork and potatos and vodka our plates not look so nice its not restaurant no we do not eat so much different food . Normal Russians eats potatos and pork daily ...
@@mfcabrini I personally dont know a single Russian with diabetes, like at all. But met several Americans with it. However, the sugar consumption in Russia is too high. On the other hand, the US takes out the fat from many products like yogurt and adds sugar whereas Russians consume it knowingly. And Russia is much colder so people do ise up more energy.
Very interesting. I'm from the Caribbean. Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 Thanks for the video and for highlighting Russian foods.
Wow! I wish I could come to your sunny 🏖country. It's so cold in Russia now. We had first snow today.
@@lovingrussia3496 Hahaha. Yes, you are very welcome. Please visit one day and enjoy our weather, our foods, and our friendly people.🌞🌴🍹
Absolutely charming video. What a treasure a wife and mother like yourself must be to your family. :)
I'm Russian, lived in Canada for over 27 years and love to recreate meals from my childhood. I noticed that some things you don't translate - don't know if it's because you don't know the English equivalent or just to use the correct term. But for those who are wondering about some of them:
tvorog - "farmer's cheese" or "dry cottage cheese"
"squares of toast" - croutons
"sausage cheese" - closest equivalent I found here is smoked gouda cheese
"cornflakes" - cereal?
prianiki - type of gingerbread
manka - "wheatlets" or "cream of wheat"
Russian rye bread is actually rye sourdough, not just yeast rye bread

Thank you for showing us what you eat, it’s very interesting. Please continue to make videos. For the people being rude, if you don’t have anything nice/constructive to say, don’t say it.
First time watching your channel and I loved it! I really had not been exposed to typical meals Russians have for meals! I loved learning about your food. I cook all the time for my family, simple, inexpensive food, but everyone loves my cooking. I will subscribe to your channel today as well. Your American friend
Oh, how wonderful I would be very satisfied with your daily diet! so simple!!! Thankyou for this fantastic, informative
Interesting to see how different people from other parts of the world eats!
Thanks for sharing.
Cool video ! I am liking alot of Russian dishes .
Very interesting, really enjoyed your video. Good to learn how others eat in different countries.
Thank you so much for sharing! This was wonderful!
I have loved the details of your video! Thank you. You have a very kind manner. God bless your dear family. Very interesting and everything sounds delicious. I’m subscribing!
Thank you🙂
For those wandering why there are so many sweets. In Russia sweats don’t have as much sugar as western sweets. Also the portion is much smaller.
I have not seen many russian food vlogs. Thoroughly enjoyed the content. Subbed
Very surprised with the high carb and sugar diet. I grew up with a Russian family and they were more into fruits, berries, whole grains, meat and LOTS of onion, peppers and salad. But they were farmers, as we are, and maybe from other area of Russia. Love the soups!
same 🙏🇨🇦👋with slaves c background, raised on farm
Still high carb. Fruits. Grains.
This was very fascinating. It’s fun to learn about other people through their food. Greetings from Texas!
Every meal together with family and most homemade, lovely
Thank you for sharing your Russian foods.Borscht looks delicious with the black bread.Very interesting.
I am not Russion but your food is intersting. This video was awesome! Thank you for showing everything you eat in a week. I have KIev store by my house that i go to every once in a while and pick up things that i think i can cook. ive tried the Russian dumpligngs in a chchicken stew. They are so tastey! maybe you could show another recipe with them. I have also tried the Russian kilbasa. They are not as processed tasting like the kilbasa over here in the states. Keep the great videos coming!
We pronounce it "kOlbasa" in Russia...and yes it tastes differ than same product in UK, Germany, Turkey...but close to Austrian kolbasa😊
Several meals I would like to try. Always interesting to see the similarities and differences of the meals. Thankyou
Thank you! It’s very interesting seeing how Families from other countries dine.
super interesting. definitely a lot of soups, didn't expect that. i assume that must be very healthy. i didn't expect that afternoon tea was such a big deal in russia, every single day was such proper cakes. by the way, the morning pie reminded me of armenian breads like nazook
That video was made in the summer when I have more time to bake. Now our teas are more simple. But yes, I like to bake.
Very interesting video, am a new subscriber from America, but am from spanish descent, we also have what you call Poldnik, but we call it merienda in Spanish. Love that Russian food is very natural with few or no preservatives. Your English is excellent. I wish you and your family the best and hoping you don’t get affected too much from the current economic situation. God bless you all.
You are not failing , the system is! You are taking good care of your family! With what you are able to!
your English is exceptionally good, not only do you speak it well, you understand how to speak the language with inflections and slang interspersed into the conversation. I really enjoyed this video. do you live in the city or the country? do your husband and children speak English as well as you do?
Thank you! We live in Moscow but my parents live in the country. My husband speaks English well. Kids are now learning English at school🙂
@@lovingrussia3496 you are two exceptional people - and - parents. with your English speaking ability you could teach English to other people. Best of Luck in your UA-cam career.
Great video! Your English exceptional. My Russian very basic, just enough to get my butt kicked. Best to you from Iowa in central US where we get cold too in winter AND stifling humid heat in summer. Yikes eh?
Isn't it interesting how most Russian English speakers sound nothing like the accents portrayed in Hollywood?
@@Katya_Lastochka you'll surprised to find out that in Russian we speak even more different than Hollywood "linguists" . It is really sad...as so many native-russian speakers live in the USA...
Thank you for a wonderful trip through memory lane. This reminds me so much of eating with my family when I was a kid.
Very different from what we do here. But I am thankful to see your way of life. It gives me new perspective. Thank you for sharing!
Interesting. I was born in Poland and in my family we didn't ever snack but had a substantial two course dinner. Rarely any sweets and breakfast was usually scrambled eggs, fruit and veg.
She eats too many sweets. So do I. My half-Polish mother was a very good baker and made lots of home-cooked sweets. I wish she hadn't, because I am now a sugar-addict.
Real Russians 75% of food contains potatos also pork no i never see somebody eating this bullshit . We cook food for a day and no restaurant portions .
@@axa897 so many of the Russian movies I've seen have Russians eating whole potatoes, but they skin them. I also eat them whole (on my busier days), but leave the skin on as it is very nutritious. Perhaps Russians eat a potato variety with thicker, harder skins, though.
Tk you a lot for the nice video. Everything looks delicious ! And congratulations on balancing well the meals and what you cook and what you buy. Very smart. Hugs from Brazil
Thanks for the video. I was always curious
All looks so good. 👍❤

We have manka in America too. It's called cream of wheat and is eaten for breakfast usually. I love it with a little butter and cream on it. It's delicious.
I used to love cream of wheat as a kid. Wonder why I stopped eating it? 🤔
And yes, a borscht making video would be awesome!
Thanks for sharing your meals with us
Very interesting to see Russian food vlog........
We call those biscuits in the US. We have them with butter and jelly, jam or honey. We usually eat for breakfast. I like them with gravy made from sausage spread on top.
Hello from Texas, I'm 45 and remember how distant and scary the Soviet Union looked like to me as a kid growing up in the 80s. I was so fascinated by the serious looking, non-smiling Olympic gymnasts that I would see on T.V. I'm so grateful for videos like these! Thank you so much! (By the way, I'm of Mexican descent, but we gave our kids Russian names: Inna and Ivan 😀)
What is Texas Tea? I know now what Russian tea is (its not really Russian). I like tea a _lot_ .
Thats because your media always showed Russia in black and white, grey skies, and winter, when it is sunny most of the time. Russians are just more introspective while Americans are more outgoing. If you knew Russians you'd know that they most resemble Texans. We're patriotic, we're loyal to family, comunity, and country. We don't let fear get in the way of fun. Our sense of humor is critical but warm. We love freedom. Granted, America has freedoms Russia doesn't. But the US doesn't have the freedoms that Russia has. As an immigrant, the US freedoms don't matter to me because they are not catered to my needs. Like with any country, its all about priority.
😊👍
@@Katya_Lastochka Interesting 🤔
@@genkiferal7178 i'll ask my wife to make special video about tea
Thank you, very interesting.
I really enjoyed this. My ancestry is Russian Jewish. I think the meals were very balanced. The whole anti-sugar/carb thing is just a fad. People who are anti-sugar forget that fruit contains a great deal of it, and carbohydrates are a food group vital to the healthy functioning of the body. The problem is the current American diet of processed foods in vast portions often eaten last thing at night. There are plenty of fruit and vegetables in the Russian diet. The family also sits down to eat, which aids digestion and encourages respect for food. The meals spread through the day discourages snacking in-between. The spiritual aspect of home cooking (even just some dishes) with the family sitting at the table is such an important lesson in today's world. Thank you for sharing this with us.
😘
Keep in mind an Ashkenazi Jewish family from Russia would have a different diet compared to an ethnic Russian family’s diet due to a plethora ofreasons.
hi im olga and i used to live in ukranie in Dinportrovsik i still eat russian food and american food i love my moms porridge i have had it snice i was little
Mac and cheese my favorite,I could eat it all day,I buy it Frozen so don't make it myself.buckweed seems to be used at any meal.never seen it or had any need to see if I can find some ,I forgotten about that condensed milk I used to love that ,I lived in Africa we never had sweets but that tinned sweet milk and jelly powder were like sweets for us and a treat, great video look forward to more
When I was little we could simply eat sweet condensed milk with bread! Yummy 😋
@@lovingrussia3496 yes it was nice
I've always been intrigued by Russian cuisine. Glad I found your channel 😊
I must have been Russian in a former life. I love these foods. Also I'd cheat less on my diet if I'd get 4 meals a day rather than 3. Very nice and well prepared.
Try the Hilton-Head metabolism diet. You get to eat four times a day!
Beautiful country. Great food. Greetings from Florida
Hello from Florida! I enjoy your videos.... everything looks delicious!
Well, it's definitely different than what I eat but I know I like all those things. My Czech great grandmother would make some of these things and over the years I've discovered some of the other dishes through video or freezer/fridge clean out days. Thank you for the great video! Now I want some cheese salad. Lots of love from Southeast Texas ❤ 🇺🇲
Thankyou for showing us. Very interesting.
I know Serniki. 15 years ago my Ukrainian friend showed me how to make Serniki and from that time I make them sometimes😊Greetings from New Jersey
Cool video! Hello from Los Angeles. The fruit there looks amazing!
Thank you for your video of meals. Hello from USA. 👋
I really enjoy your video! Could you put the recipes in here, too? I love trying foods from different countries, and trying to make them myself!
I would specifically like your recipe for mac and cheese

Oh I know! It looked so delicious!
Thank you! Lovely video.
Very interesting! And so healthy and fresh food.
The soups look good. Maybe you can show the recipe and how to cook the soups?
Very nice, I love buckwheat. Greetings from Poland.
Looks good and well balanced. I like how you make it a point to serve raw vegetables with a lot of meals. A lot the dishes look similar to what we eat in the US (although we don't eat Borscht).
Lots of people, especially of Russian ancestry, eat borscht in America!
@@hellothere274 Of course lots of people of Russian/Ukranian ancestry eat it, but it's not available to those who are not. I would like to try someday even though I don't like the taste of beets (they taste like dirt (soil) to me). I'm sure the sour cream helps make it an appetizing meal.
In North Dakota where I grew up borscht is readily available, mostly due to the Volga German population.
@@3Zeppoli I'm from North Dakota and my mother still makes borscht. Yes my ancestors are Germans from Russia..

Very interesting! How is your English so good? Enjoyed this a lot, thanks for sharing.
Interesting
Very nice video
I have no idea that Russian and Polish have drastically different diets
For some reason I thought it would be similar to what we eat in Poland
Soups and bread is probably the only same in our diets
Thank you for sharing
Very fun to learn about different nutrients and diets around the world
@beata- I disagree - we have similar cuisines (i have visited Poland), - in Russia we also cook bigos, stuffed pancakes (like Polish naliesniki), mince cutlets (like kotlety melony), blood sausage (like kaszanka) etc etc etc.
And of course pierogi of all kinds- only we call them vareniki.
Oh delicious! Now im so hungry! 😘
My friend is Russian. She and her family eat everything and anything. She's into Korean culture right now so her family often have Korean foods. Previously it was traditional Chinese foods
Your Mac n cheese looks delicious! I just subscribed from the USA 😃
That blueberry pie thing looks amazing. Any chance of getting a recipe?
For the crust: 50 g of butter, 100 g of sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, approximately 200 g of flour - bake it at 180 degrees Celsius ( 356 F) for about 15 min. For the cream: 2 tbsp of sugar, vanilla extract, 100 g of 33%fat cream, 3 egg yolks - mix in a pot on medium heat. Keep stirring until it thickens. Add 100 g of butter. Put cooled cream into the crust, put fresh berries on top, leave the pie in the fridge for some time. Enjoy🙂
@@lovingrussia3496 I made it for one of our Thanksgiving pies. WOW That is amazing. We thought it tasted like sugar cookie crust with berry custard on top. Big hit in my family. It's a keeper. Thank you so much!
They eat pretty good, fresh fruit and veggies, soups and lean meat.snd ice cream, tea.

$100/week for your family? How many family members? How old are the kids? That looks really deficient! Better than subsistence tho for sure.
My grandparents always had breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper.
Oh you’re Russian. Please could you tell me what the chocolate bars in the wee boxes are called that they had for breakfast? In English writing. I really want to try those but couldn’t make out what she said. Xx 🙏
So interesting to see what people eat in other countries!!
Thank you for sharing your life with us. I have Russian heritage, but know nothing about it the culture.
You’re absolutely an amazing mum . But the food is sooo different and to cost that much, no fish nor steak !?? Crazy !
The cheese, garlic, and mayonnaise thing sounds like a food crime but I would give it a shot.
lol, same!
Very interesting. New subscriber, from Tennessee, USA.
Hi Maria you are Beautiful I am from India your recipes are good
Thank you for making this, I know it took a lot of work! I live in the US in rural area and I'm interested in traditional cooking. I would love to see another week with your wintertime meals. Your English is excellent and please just ignore grumpy comments about your diet.
My background is German farmers, so we also cook many soups and pies, pastries, etc. I garden and forage as well. Here is a quick recipe i love: layer in a heavy pot with a good tight lid such as cast iron dutch oven two layers of meaty bacon slices with fat part on the bottom, slice potatoes about 1 cm thick and make 2-3 layers laid over bacon. Wash kale and cut into ribbons or bite size pieces. Pack as much kale in pot as you can with the lid fully closed to keep in the steam. Cook on stovetop burner on Low for abot 45-55 minutes. Don't disturb until the end. Try to check if bacon is browning by smell or reaching a wood spoon in along the side to peek. It won't get crispy. Mix and mash it all together. It is great with various kales and i sometimes use orange sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes.
That sounds tasty! 😋Thank you for the recipe. I'm planning to make a week of cooking with recipies but after Christmas and New Year holidays.
Just found you . Thankyou so enjoyed 😉 washing love different cultures thd waffles looked 😋 yummy x love from scotland ❤ 🏴.love to yo znd your family 👪

Russian food might not be very healthy but it’s delicious. Love from Canada, God bless Russia.
Not very healthy? This woman dedicates her time to make homemade balance food! Meanwhile in Canada most families live off frozen dinners, fast food and take food out from the restaurants (not always the healthiest ones) 😂😂😂
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 much love to you ♥️♥️♥️
Interesting, thank you for sharing.
Russia is a country of contrast. Half the country love buckwheat with milk and sugar, and the other half are traumatized by it.
The same goes for cream of wheat (manka). You either love it or hate it😅
🤣👍
Try some Asian instant noodles. It's delicious!
Oh, we love them! 😋
Hello 🙂We are from Hungary and live in Germany and we just discovered a Hungarian shop about 1,5hr away from us. Previously we went many times to Russian supermarket because you have so many things that we have too ,my most favorite thing is the pig lard with onions and the flavor of roasted meat 🤤And the twarog snack what you had on Tuesday look so delicious. We have them in Hungary too,but they are kept in the fridge, smaller and sold in 5 packs,my current favorite is with marzipan and poppy seed😊
Very interesting. Not too different than some of my meals here in America. Maybe a bit more heavy on bread and I eat more red meat. I'm not going to lie though, I can tell the eating habits in me are strong because I wanted to throw some cheese and ranch on your salads and boiled potatoes. You're definitely doing it healthier I'm sure. Haha
I do have a question, the green onions..do you just grab a stalk of it and bite in?
Yeas, we can simply eat green onion fresh with soup or sandwich. My younger son doesn't like me to chop onion into his soup he likes to bite a stalk of it while eating soup.
Every Russian family has different habits. For ex, my breakfast may consist of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, sausages and cheese. Also I very like boiled eggs. In other days we eat sandwiches or porridge. Lunch most often is really a salad or chopped fresh vegetables, soup or meat with a side dish. There is often no poldnik, I can just have a snack at any time before supper. Supper is often meat and potatoes, pasta, buckwheat or rice. I rarely drink fresh juices or water, usually a lot of coffee and tea, but it's not so healthy...
P.S. Yeah pel'meni are perfect when you are very tired and too lazy to cook
Omg... My mum use to make me hot Sandwhiches using that machine and they are my favorite!!!!
Bravo.
You have a very fine accent in English. I am so impressed! Where did you learn it?
