Chord Electronics is an example of cutting edge electronics engineering that translates into exceptional audio performance. The musicians we admire [Herbie Hancock for example], endorse Chord amps in their professional setups. So, the company commands a premium for its Engineering Prowess. The consumers that want this level of performance are willing to pay to for it (since 1989). Take 1: ua-cam.com/video/oGSz7Hm5sFE/v-deo.html
Ok, I am going to weigh in here. I have had the Chord Ultima in my listening room for about three weeks and what has been described here mostly matches what I experienced. Now comes the alternative. I own a Gato Audio AMP150 class AB amp that is on par with the Ultima and betters it some areas. The main difference, I will put it out there, maybe the Ultima may have the edge on the toe tapping front. It seems to be able to Gel everything into a cohesive whole just that little bit more. Now, before anyone says oh the price difference; The Gate AMP 150 was for sale for upwards of 8k before GATO changed their pricing model. Please listen to both before making your choice. The other thing of note is the inputs and outputs. I find the Ultima limited in this area against the competition, especially if you have analogue tape as part of your listing equipment or you may want to include a headphone amp. Also I recommend investing in a mains conditioner if you really want to hear the Ultima at its very best.
did you get new speakers Acoustic Energy Corinium? Also do you have the ultma trying the two together. Finally received my DT8s and also got my hands on a rega aethos what a great pairing. Its like I am at rob's all the time .
I like the Ultima better. It seems richer in tone and more transparent than the Aethos. But that’s from memory and I didn’t have them to level match and compare..
@@analogholic_reviews yes, im a Hifi Copywriter in Germany and i had the change to compare These 2 Amps against eachother. Speakers were Fink Team Kim and EPOS ES14n. Cables Gutwire and Cardas. My Setup is slightly in the richer but still balanced side of Presentation. I love the Qutest Dac that i use with my SBooster MK2 but Atoll is a different beast when it comes to dynamic and soundstage. These are 2 aspects that are Essential in my opinion. Check it out if you have the chance. Its simply stunning what the french Brothers are offering. The best thing is, every amp is made in France, even the Case...

🤣 good match sir!
What are the sonic differences between this and the Rega Aethos or are they similar to your ears? Which do u prefer?

Pick up Atoll in 300 Signature and you have more fun.
Curious, did you pick up the Ultima? And in comparison have more fun?
