I remember Bonds was not happy that Milledge (a rookie) did that. In the post-game interviews (if i remember correctly), he said that MIlledge might have gotten one on his ribs if Mets-Giants played again in 2006
@@hmhm856 imagine wanting to hit a somebody in the ribs with a baseball for high fiving fans 😂😂let alone a rookie there’s no fucking way that him high fiving fans makes somebody that mad unwritten baseball rules is just stupid and outdated as hell
Prime Jose Reyes was hands down the most electric player I've ever seen. At any moment he could spark a rally and get the home crowd back into the game. And the "Jose-Jose-Jose" chants bellowing down from the upper deck.... what a player.
Being a Mets fan that year was insane. So many great games played by them. They had an aura to this team that has been unmatched. Really thought that was the year to win it all. A season that is unforgettable. LFGM!
I'm not sure tbh. Game 7 was very winnable and the pitching wasn't really the problem. The Mets got shut down and couldn't come up clutch in the 8th and 9th inning.
The helmets were lame but I like the black hats with the blue brims. But they should have just been an alternate, they should have never completely replaced the classic blue and orange hats.
This team was so dominant that year... it's forgotten about because they lost in the NLCs, but it was a Great season start to finish Honestly 10 moments aren't enough this type of season needs 25
06 Mets could have won 100 games but they rested alot once they clinched with like two and a half weeks left. In my opinion, out of all the Mets team to make the postseason, the 06 Mets was the best Mets lineup ever (though it could be a tie with the 99 mets). Only NL team that gave Mets problems in 06 was the Phillies. And then the Cards in that NLCS 😩
My favorite mets team ever. The only team that ever made me cry. Still get sad when I think about Beltran striking out looking after all that money he got
Mets lots the NLCS mostly because David Wright forgot how to hit for 7 straight games. I like Wright but he was never clutch. 1 walk off hit in his career.
David Wright swing was soooo amazing from 2004-2007. But then beginning in 2008 until he retired, his swing got so long (so he can hit breaking pitches better), that he could barely catch up to fastballs. I remembered how many times Keith and Darling made comments about David's swing to not catch up to fastballs beginning in 2008
@@SmoothCriminal12 I know!! Mets offense smacked Carpenter in games 2 and 6. But Mets offense got spanked four times by Suppan and Weaver. Game 2 is the game that got away
@@hmhm856 its a reason I dont want the Cardinals to win anything this yr especially with Molina,Wainwright and Pujols in tow till to this day. If only the Mets would have won that NLCS they would have eaten the Tigers pitching in the WS sans Verlander
@@henrycalde1991 Youre just like me. I hated when the Rangers couldnt beat the Cardinals in the 2011 World Series. And I hated seeing the Cards again make the WS in 2013. And unreal to think that Molina-Wain-Pujols are all still playing for the Cards in 2022. And I also hated how the Cards beat the Mets in that makeup game in Shea Stadium in 2007 in the final week of the season (Joel Pineiro game).
THE 2006 METS HAD AN AWSOME OFFENSIVE BALLCLUB. IMAGINE THEM HAVING THE 2015 PITCHING STAFF OF HARVEY, de GROM, SYNDERGAARD, NEESE. THEY WOULD HAVE WON AT LEAST 110 GAMES, WIPED OUT THE CARDS AND WON THE WORLD SERIES HANDS DOWN.
Had this team had any real starting pitching they would have been an all time team. 97 wins and went into playoffs with John Maine and Oliver Perez leading the charge.
Never knew why people were so triggered that Millege gave high fives going back to the field, kid was just living in the moment

He was our top prospect at the time and had a lot of hype behind him too. It was only natural for him and the fans to react that way.

More pro athletes need to do that being honest. Fans paying those ticket prices affords some of these guys 15 to 20 million a year.
people are clowns, so easily mad. and they say people today are that way lol

This year feels just as real
duuuude finally the reyes inside the park clip. that was the only game I went to in ‘06 and I’ve been looking for that clip for at least a decade now
Exactly!!!
What I wouldn't give to have David Wright at 3rd base for this yrs Mets
Man. How the hell did this team lose in the NLCS. That shit still ranks my brain. Fucking Beltran smh
@Bread And Circuses Wright forgot how to hit for the entire series.
The Beltran walk off home run vs St. Louis and the Endy Chavez catch were some of my favorites
Pedro Martinez getting hurt was fatal to this team winning the NLCS.
I'm not sure tbh. Game 7 was very winnable and the pitching wasn't really the problem. The Mets got shut down and couldn't come up clutch in the 8th and 9th inning.
Cliff Floyd was and still Is so underrated. Dude was a beast
Hurt too often but I agree.
The black and blue helmets were atrocious.
Mets should just wear Orange and Blue.
The helmets were lame but I like the black hats with the blue brims. But they should have just been an alternate, they should have never completely replaced the classic blue and orange hats.
That 06 team should have gone and won the World Series, it’s so unfortunate that it didn’t happen. That’s offense was elite.
Ya they were supposed to win we and get Barry zito remember?
I still cry about this season. This team should have been immortalized. I was at number 3 probably the most exciting game I've ever been to.
Post more 2006, 2007, 2008 Mets games please
1:57 “AND WE’RE GOING HOME” that call still sends chills down my spine. I remember watching this live. Amazing memory from an Amazin’ team.
I was a freshman in hs this year. Was devastated when we lost to the Cards, but man what a year it was. LFGM

The ball had barely just landed and Gary Cohen already called the inside-the-park home run, jesus. Reyes when he was young was something else.

Beltran was the heart and soul of that offense. The team doesn't make it that year without him. He earned his more and more.
@@loualbino5536 i would say that the 1-2 combo of Reyes-LoDuca was what made the Mets offense lethal in 2006

Or at least win the NL pennant. But the Mets power offense just disappeared for the most part in the NLCS

No endy chavez catch? I know Mets lost that game, but they also lost the game that Reyes hit for the cycle (Wagner blew the save and game in the 9th)

2 grand slams in 1 inning is insane. That's hard to do even in a video game lol.
You guys should post all the wins from 2006

As a Yankee fan this team deserved a championship that year
Those were the days. METS' exciting baseball, SHEA STADIUM with 45,000 fans plus and curyain calls. YOU DON'T HAVE THAT AT CITIFIELD.
How about the Anderson Hernandez belly catch?
Jon Miller saying BelTRON always cracked me up

This had to be their best lineup. When cliff floyd bats 6th it’s a good lineup. 99 was good too.
I had a radio under my pillow listening when Beltran took Madson deep.
I love hearing John Miller calling Met games.
Greatest team that never won a title. I’ll never forget this core
I was at the Reyes cycle game. A stranger and I hugged.
i was 7 when they played, still core memories going to those games
Best mets regular season i have seen. Similar to 86. Great team.
Wtf was Vidro thinking
Best team to never win a chip
