My palate and taste buds got messed up by COVID in June - so I don't have much of a top 5 for 2022. But I do want to congratulate you on not having a top ten full of BTAC unicorns and allocated $700 secondary bottles. Larceny BP, ECBP, Calumet 16, without too much expense almost everybody can find some of those. Love the channel, keep up the good work.
Dude! My wife is from Long Island, I grew up in OH, lived in Columbus for 5 years (OSU grad, Go Bucks!) and NYC for 23 years, and I love bourbon! We're twins! Now I like your channel even more now that I know all that!
Hard to pick a few bourbons because tastebuds change depending on the day but 5 I’m keeping on the shelf are .. 1. Russell Reserve Single Barrel - Better Than Blanton’s ! 2. Wild Turkey Rare Breed (Deep Flavor, High Proof) 3. Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch (Smooth, 100 Proof Daily Drinker) 4. Woodford Double Oaked (Late Night/After Dinner Treat) 5. Four Roses Single Barrel (High Rye, Rich Flavor, Mixer) Disclaimer - Four Roses Single Barrel is my “All Time Favorite” mixer for Old Fashioned Recipe ! Wild Turkey 101 is great as well but the High Rye, 100 Proof is special for my fav drink.
- Calumet 16 - Wild Turkey 12 - PHC Double Barrel - 4R LE SmB - Bottles Fine Wine Private Barrel (2021 release but I got it in 2022) Thanks for all the great reviews and insights Jason!
Good job with this presentation. Concise, with an emphasis on the stuff in the bottles. Strong year for the folks at Heaven Hill. The Larceny was a surprise for me, too. I personally feel 2022 was the year of the store and UA-camr pick. I was lucky enough to get some really nice ones. Thanks Jason!
My Top 2022 Whiskeys are as Follows: 1) Blue Run Reflection I 2) Blue Run High Rye Batch 2 3) Blue Run Lahaina Luau 4) Blue Run Parisian Patisserie 5) Weller Special Reserve
Thanks Jason. Great video. My personal top 5, that I was able to attain a bottle of at retail, is as follows: 1. Knob Creek 18 (30 year anniversary), 2. Booker's Kentucky Tea, 3. Calumet 16, 4. Rebel 10 year, and 5. Whistlepig 10 year. I also got a killer 1792 single barrel store pick bottled in bond, but that's a store pick single barrel and I won't include it as a top 5.
Nice list. My list included Calumet 16, OF SB Barrel Strength, Knob Creek 12, Barrel Bourbon #33 and Smoke Wagon Uncut/Unfiltered. I just picked up Lucky Seven Proprietors 15 year.
EC 922, Calumet 16, The Proprietor, Stagg Jr., RR13 in no particular order. As an honorable mention, really loved the Green River and Coopers Craft 100 proof.
My top 5: 5. Hard Truth sweet mash rye 4. Rare character rye pick (white port finished) 3. Lucky seven 14yr proprietor 2. Redwood empire haystack 14 yr (port finished) 1. Wild Turkey Unforgotten

I missed out in finding ECBP C922 and HH17. But below is a list of 5 whiskeys I found this year that really have enjoyed. BTW, what are your top Starlight finished whiskeys? 1. Calumet 16 2. MM BRT-01 3. MM BRT-02 4. Sagamore Sherry Finished Rye 5. Starlight Bourbon: Finished in Honey Barrels

Top 5 I was lucky to try in 2022 1. George T Stagg (at a bar) 2. Parker's Heritage (at a bar) 3. RR 13 (own at MSRP luckily) 3. Barrel Store pick c62k (own from liquor store club I'm in) 5. 1UP JD (Mash n Journey)
My top were 1. GTS 22 2. Wild Turkey 12 3. Masters Keep Unforgotten 4. ECBP 5. Jos Magnus Cigar Blend 131 Bonus - Maryland Heritage Series Ryes and Lorely Bourbon
Can't disagree with any on your list but unfortunately haven't even had a shot at half of them. Benefits of the profession! ECBP IS THE undisputed king of obtainable affordable quality bourbon! Still have several bunkered from 2019 and 2020 thankfully
5. Blood oath 8 4. WR batch prof 118 3. Calumet 16 2. 4R LE 1. HH 17 Full disclosure I haven't opened my HH17 but have tried a glass and know it will be my favorite. Best blood oath I have had ever was this years pact 8. Surprise it didn't make your top 10
Hey NY Pisan, my top 5 are Calumet 16, ECBP C922, Woodford Reserve Batch Proof, Barrell (Seagrass, 33 & Vantage), Smoke Wagon uncut unfiltered. Bear in mind I’m a fairly new enthusiast, but thanks to guys like you, I’m a quick learner. Thank you JC. Cheers 🥃 Another JC from New Yawk
I discovered this year Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye and it was a game changer for me. I seriously like it much more than a lot of much more famous and expensive bottles
both my ECBP C922 and Larceny C922 drink extremely hot compared to the other batches. I'm hoping they open up, but I've had them open for 2 months now and no improvement. I think my bottles of the year are the Calumet 16, SmokeWagon Uncut, an ECBP Private Barrell store pick, and an Old Forrester SB BP store pick.
Wow, great list, my top 5 of the year, #1 is an old Carter very small batch bourbon, #2 Parker’s Heritage Double Barreled Blend, #3 Four Gate split stave, #4 Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend #5 WTMK Unforgotten with a few notables to boot. Great video and Go Eagles 🦅 baby. Super Bowl or bust to pick up where the Phillies fell short, cheers Jason 👍
Because I live in Pennslyvania AND we have State Stores most of this list I could never get. Thank god I live right at the NJ state border line and I go there to get stuff like Heavens Door Barrel Proof which is my new personal favorite new find in 2022.
My top 5(not in order) Heaven Hill 17 year William Larue Weller 2022 George T. Stagg 2022 Parker's heritage double-barreled Russell's Reserve 13 year From the bottom of my heart, I really wish these bottles were not top-ranked. Unfortunately, after blind tasting, allocated ones are just better than non-allocated bottles; a bit sad, but I have to accept this reality. Therefore, I think it is important to review them separately, allocated ones and non-allocated ones (just like we cannot really say the best whiskey of the last year was the Macallan Reach 81 Year old), and I believe SLB Drinks did a great job on that. Thanks always for your time and effort in providing us with good info, and cheers! P.S. I am from Asia, so I am very happy that Wild Turkey 12 year is on your list! (my favorite go-to bourbon!)
In no particular order: Jack Daniel SBBP Four Gate Kelvin Four Knob Creek 18 Bardstown Disco 7 Wilderness Trail BP store pick Honorable mention to Starlight BP store pick and an 84 proof 15 year Dickel store pick that I still can't believe I like.
Oh man...if there was a UA-cam channel that I really wanted to see their top 10 was yours. Thank you Jason. By the way, will you be doing a review for the Lucky Seven The Proprietor anytime soon?
Great list! You have much better access than I, good sir. For me (taking out barrel picks and things from 2021 that I didn't actually get until 2022), LBP A122, Calumet 16, Woodford Batch Proof, Widow Jane 10, BRT-01/02
Great review. Obviously biased a bit toward higher proof bourbons, but that is consistent with my taste as well. I can't get most of the bottles in your top 10 here in Alabama but I can offer a few releases that I really loved. The most recent is the Clyde Mays 8-year cask strength. Man, that is so good. It is an allocated product here in December but there are still some bottles sitting on the shelf at our ABC. I really like the second release of Booker's in 2022. Another great one for me was the Old Forester Single Barrel-Barrel Strength. Finally, I really liked the Heaven's Door Decade release and the Smoke Wagon Uncut/Unfiltered. These were all stellar in my opinion.
Great stuff Jason! If I had to pick my top five of what I got to try in 2022, I’d say: Lucky Seven the Proprietor Heaven Hill 17 Calumet 16 Russel’s 13 Parker’s Heritage
1 - King of Kentucky 15-Year 2 - Old Fitzgerald Spring 2022 17-Year 3 - Calumet Farms 16-Year 4 - Bardstown Bourbon Collaborative - Fercullen 5 - Hardin’s Creek 15-Year The Bardstown one is not a bourbon but my list was for whiskeys in general
I’ve got a couple of these. Was going to crack HCJW last night but my dang dog had diarrhea all over my house while we were out. When my house smells better I’m excited to try it. For me it was the most “bargain” of all the other 2022 unicorns at $179. If I have any budget left over later this year I may pick up Evan 12 or WT 12, but it depends what else comes out
Great list Jason! Especially that Heaven Hill 17 year. My top 5 were mostly older past years bottles I was able to find in neglected liquor stores or Sib store picks: 4R Sib barrel proof, JDSBBP store pick, ECBP batches B517, C918, and C919.
Welcome to the bourbon family! It’s fun experiencing new whiskey, and that’s a great list you have for so new into bourbons! 1792 has a great line up of products if you haven’t had a chance to try them yet. I recommend the 1792 small batch as a great intro bourbon/ daily sipper. It’s a nice smooth and sweet pour!
If you liked Old Elk Wheated Bourbon you should look for an Old Elk Wheated Bourbon store pick they are higher proof and soo good. Belle Meade/Nelson Bros 108 proof is a fav of mine too! One other one that nobody ever talks about is the new calumet 10 in the blue bottle, its so good and nobody ever talks about it.
Very nice and concise video. I really enjoyed all the information that you shared. Eli Craig’s Barrel Proof (not C922) is the closest available in our area. Lookin back, I can’t think who my top 5 bourbons would be. Focused mostly on the micro-distilleries in Iowa and Wisconsin. Foundry Distilling in Des Moines, IA, had some interesting releases based on those used by some well known breweries. The Sixth Glass was very good.
Just when I start feeling good about my collection, I see a list like this where I don't have any of the bottles and wish I did. Great job Jason. Gives me something to aspire to. Cheers.
Fortunate to have Cal16, ECBP C922, Larceny C922, and WT101 12Yr from Japan (Just arrived). Great list and so hard to hunt for these but gonna keep on trying. Top 5 for me (that have or sampled) are Old Soul Tin Series 1, Cal16, Laws 8yr BiB, RR 13, and RR PBBS.
Just Tried Larceny BP C922 vs the brand new Larceny BP A123 and C922 is still lightyears ahead. I would love to see a comparison vid with your opinion. ECBP C922 was the best of the year for me too, maybe Heaven Hill saves the hitters for the C releases?
Sounds like a solid list! I have seen a lot of channels putting that Jack Daniels at the top of their list. I have personally never seen any of those bottles in person. Living in Texas the market is saturated with flippers waiting in line for days to grab up all the good bottles.. My top 5 list would probably be old forester 1910 extra aged, penelope architect build 1, 1920, makers brt-01, and bookers 22-02. 1920 is a normal release, but yearly releases are extremely tough for me to get and 1920 is just a hitter. Cheers dude!
dude, you need to tame the white down in the video. something in the main clips. your b-roll looks good. main clips are white hot. good content as usual. great stuff!
J Mattingly rye pie , Old Elk rum finish, Dexter, Penelope cask strength, Ragged Branch cask strength, Lost Monarch and Booker's 22-03 Kentucky tea. I didn't have the budget for somethings I passed on but have 20 bottles I haven't opened yet 🙃

Great list! You have much better access than I, good sir. For me (taking out barrel picks and things from 2021 that I didn't actually get until 2022), LBP A122, Calumet 16, Woodford Batch Proof, Widow Jane 10, BRT-01/02
Your palates leaned into the heaven hill arsenals this year. Cheers. Let's see how 2023 pans out.
If I had to pick my top five of what I got to try in 2022, I’d say:
Lucky Seven the Proprietor
Heaven Hill 17
Calumet 16
Russel’s 13
Parker’s Heritage
1 - King of Kentucky 15-Year
2 - Old Fitzgerald Spring 2022 17-Year
3 - Calumet Farms 16-Year
4 - Bardstown Bourbon Collaborative - Fercullen
5 - Hardin’s Creek 15-Year
The Bardstown one is not a bourbon but my list was for whiskeys in general
I’ve got a couple of these. Was going to crack HCJW last night but my dang dog had diarrhea all over my house while we were out. When my house smells better I’m excited to try it. For me it was the most “bargain” of all the other 2022 unicorns at $179. If I have any budget left over later this year I may pick up Evan 12 or WT 12, but it depends what else comes out
Great list Jason! Especially that Heaven Hill 17 year.
My top 5 were mostly older past years bottles I was able to find in neglected liquor stores or Sib store picks: 4R Sib barrel proof, JDSBBP store pick, ECBP batches B517, C918, and C919.
saw some of what’s on your list even had a couple of the bottles like your list
Sagamore Spirit? I’m a huge fan of all they offer. All good, regardless. Their CS is particularly enjoyable.
only 2 on your list are ever available in my area of NC....... would like to know what costs were of these unicorns
Great list bro! My only additions would have been either of the Old Fitzgerald 17 or 19. Great bottles! Cheers to 2023 guy!
Just started my bourbon journey in November
5)Olk Elk sourmash
4)Olk Elk wheated bourbon
3)Jack Daniels barrel proof
2)Belle Meade
1) John J Bowman
@@goose7782 thx , I haven't opened my 1792 yet, sadly can't get any of the other expressions down here in south Florida .
@@nickostrom2163 Thx for the recommendations. Store picks are tough in Miami but I'll look out.
Cheers.
Solid list. Only one I own is the Beam and I LOVE it. Tried the Parker’s heritage too and that was unreal
Four Gate Dearborn County( hazmat )
Parker's double barrel
Four roses flood relief 16y OESV
Four Roses SMBLE 2022

- Russell’s 13
- Russell’s Single Rickhouse

GTS 22
EHTBP Batch 11
Weller Full-proof Specs Pick
Stagg Specs Pick
Lucky Seven The Proprietor
Cheers dude!
all are great bottles right there! will be including most of those in a different list soon!
Great list happy to own 5 out of your top 10 and love every selection. Got to sample the #1 and couldn't agree more
dude, you need to tame the white down in the video. something in the main clips. your b-roll looks good. main clips are white hot. good content as usual. great stuff!
Nice list. Looking forward to your other lists maybe geared towards the more casual enthusiast. Cheers 🥃
My 5:
Basil Hayden 10 Year
Rowan's Creek
Noah's Mill
Russell's Reserve 10 Year
Old Forester Rye 100 (best affordable)
I would love to hear you top ten of 2022 of more affordable Bourbons
That video is coming.
Was a big fan of the Kentucky Tea! Almost made the list
Superior review, very concise yet relaxed. Really enjoy the reviews!😊
I looked up all of these and not one of them is available in Oregon
Awesome video, Jason!
