    Thanks for the tutorial, I was wondering this too! I'm afraid it's these details where Lumion absolutely dumps on the competition. Lumion is way more expensive than D5 but the interface, detail and workflow is so much much better. PC user with sketchup here

      Thanks for watching. I belive the grass issue is now resolved in D5. Lumion is way more expensive alright, but it is a joy to work with (I'm not counting '23, as I think that was poor). I have a new video coming soon that looks at what you get in each program, and looks at their strengths and weaknesses. Lumion has tons to offer, but man..... that price tag is brutal these days.....

      Hmm not sure the grass issue is fixed. Literally just yesterday playing with d5 and the 3d grass did not change the underlay or go to the edge 😤 … i’ll look out for the video. Lumion’s x5 more money than d5. Hard to swallow!

    I have found a much better way, use the scatter tool instead of adding grass material. Use the brush, change density, and radius to max, and it fills the entire area with grass with no blank edges.

      Craig, Thanks for sharing! I only recently found out about this! Thanks for sharing though. I had a comment here that led to @NunoSilva3d and he uses the method you use. Its a good reminder to always read the Manual fully!
      Have you triedD5 Render 2.4 yet?

    • @craigwilliamsdesign
      @craigwilliamsdesign Рік тому +1

      @ViaRender No problem, yes I am currently using 2.4, I am quite impressed with the upgrade to the GI lighting, it's made a difference to lighting interior spaces.

      @viarender  Рік тому

      @@craigwilliamsdesign Yeah, it has brightened up the interiors a lot. I'm really having to dim lights to get it to work.

    Mate, why in my case the 3d grass didint show up ? Even cant use scater tool too to place manually

    • @viarender
      @viarender  Рік тому +1

      Widwan, If you are using SketchUp it is usually because the Normals are flipped. Right click on the face in SketchUp, and hit "Reverse Faces". This should work. Also, try assigning a random material first, I believe this may help you! Let me know if it doesnt.

    Can we use vegetation path?

    • @viarender

    • @zafir7007
      @zafir7007 Рік тому

      @@viarender I use ver 2.4
      In it, I can place vegetation via brush, scatter or path.
      With path, I can just draw a path and select what ever vegetation and it will be place along the path. I can also set the density, rotation, distance from path etc.
      I've tried grass material ...it works. So it's super easy to place grass especially along edges.

    • @viarender
      @viarender  Рік тому +1

      @@zafir7007 Thats cool, I had not tried the path tool. I'll update this video at some point with the new methods (Your Path method) and the Nuno Silva method.
      To me, the drawback to the procedural Grass Material is the render time. It really adds weight to the scene and does not look as good as using 3D grass objects (Which rendered faster). But every use case is different.

    This does not work on irregular surface terrain, works only on plane. How to get around this?

    • @viarender
      @viarender  4 місяці тому

      Hi there. I just tested this. The newest version of D5 has an align to terrain function when placing grass. Switch to the scatter tool (Radius slider to max), and tick the box for align to terrain. Paint the grass using the GrassMaterial object! I hope this helps!

    Manually placing it will take ages😂 have you seen nuno silva’s channel he did it the easier way.

    • @viarender
      @viarender  Рік тому

      If you use the Brush tool, you can place it faster. however, for small sections, manually placing is the best way, as you have more control (my opinion). The Best way/Fastest way is really dependent on the situation.

    I am not very convinced with d5 render grass.. its not very realistic. Enscape grass look even prettier. And this grass not growing on the edge looks like a bug that needs to be fixed

      The grass edge in D5 is a bit of a pain to work around, but the 3D grass models are the way to go in my opinion.

    So what method is the best? no proxy grass?

    • @viarender
      @viarender  4 місяці тому

      Hi there, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Far off, grass texture. Medium distance hand painted or scatter tool, using the grass objects. Close up, hand placed with variation. The scatter tool is great, but watch the poly counts, they can get huge!
