Thanks to Game Informers coverage of Sonic Superstars we have received a ton of new Sonic Superstars news! A huge reveal from Game Informer was what each power will be from each Chaos Emerald. From trailers we already knew about certain Chaos Emerald power ups such as Avatar and Water. But now we know the names and abilities of all 7 Sonic Superstars' power ups. I find it satisfying that the emeralds are finally being viewed as powerful rocks with reality bending capabilities, in the older games they are pretty much just rocks, that can make you yellow and invincible

I just imagine Shadow shout "Chaos Control", expecting to teleport but vines suddenly grow around him.
Well, technically, the emeralds can all teleport and slow stuff down, but you just have to have the thought of wanting to do that first like Shadow does. If not, then the emeralds will help you in whatever way you require unless you're evil or well Eggman as in lore they are sentient beings afterall. They trust Sonic and visa his friends they can just sense whose bad or not lol
Pretty funny to realize they are actively resisting Eggman, forcing him to create a machine to harness their power every time.

Remind me again...who told Silver who the Iblis trigger was? Mephiles. And how did he tell him? Well he didn't tell him, he SHOWED him. How? Silver glanced into the PURPLE chaos emerald and saw Sonic in amidst fire to inform him that he was the so-called Iblis trigger. And he saw that INSIDE of the emerald.
Basically, the purple chaos emerald's original power has always been vision since 06
@@adventure0850 I like that theory. If we go off of Project 06, the PURPLE GEM turns you invisible. My headcannon is that the gems are a piece of the emeralds, with the rainbow gem being all seven.
I hope Amy gets a proper Super form, instead of just glowing.
(I don't like her bland super form, or the people saying super forms changing the appearance of the character is "boring")

I feel like it’s a little bit dumb because this was the one opportunity to give a character other than sonic a super form, and they decided to change what the emeralds do all together.
*Everyone has super forms including amy
They all have super forms and super forms weren’t removed, these are just little power ups than you can use before getting your super transformation

I was always a fan as a kid of the idea that each emerald should gige a unique power as each have a diff design. Now as a adult I didn't realize how this would imply Super and Hyper forms are even more op.

He could homing attack in the 3DS version of Generations. It was an ability you could unlock.

I didn’t know Amy could even throw hammers in Origins.
This is perfect. My biggest nitpick with Sonk is that the Emeralds never did anything on their own. Having the red emerald is no different than the green one. But now there is.
Fun fact: all emerald powers have a connection to a map or level
If I had to guess, "Extra" will probably be unlocked first. It's not the kind of power that drastically changes traversal of levels or unlocks anything new, it's just extra combat options. And, from a game design perspective, you almost never want to introduce a common and useful functionality like that late in the game. The kinds of things that are tied directly to common button presses like those will likely be are things you want to teach players by the end of the first world and probably not much later.
If this IS the case, it will likely mean (at least SOME of) the chaos emeralds will NOT be optional to collect like in the OG games. Or, if they ARE optional, it will be HIGHLY incentivized to do so, like how Breath of the Wild doesn't REQUIRE you to do the divine beasts, but HIGHLY incentivizes it through the difficulty in winning withour doing so.
Fun fact: the first emeralds power was actually revealed in the IDW comics during zors fight with silver where he actually uses clones

Fun fact, this was an idea from the iriginal sonic design and lore documents, however it was rarely used.

The Chaos Emeralds granting its user superpowers reminds me of the four-part "Quest For the Chaos Emeralds" saga from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. The powers of the four emeralds were invisibility, invincibility, immortality, and the power of life.
