Truth! I’m 55 this year and remember hearing this when I was really young and fell in love. I then spent until my early twenties trying to find it and when I finally did, was so happy. My sister just sent me this video today. I love it!
First song I ever heard by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. I was in love at note. Then I saw him do this on TV! He was just the perfect image of rock n roll! I’m 72 now and still love him and listen to him. ♥️ And yes I still dance to his songs! ❤
that opening drum beat is up there with when the levee breaks as far as great opening drum riffs ..you know you are gonna get a musical ass kickin when ya hear that haha
Hey Darling, I saw him when he started his career at the ,” Hideout” in Southfield Mi. 64’ as I recall. Loved his first song, “East Side Story”. Check it out on Google. Eric.
The guy on the bass is A mad man,it always amazed me a band with just three players in it put out such sound, like Jimi Hendrix Experience,zz Top,Grand Funk Railroad, Bob and these two guys are pounding that Detroit Sound.😎😎😎
Man. These early clips of Bob from the late 60’s & early 70’s, before he blew up nationally with Live Bullet in ‘76, are so cool, showing that he always had it. It just took the country a little while to get hip…🙏🎼😎
This song right here I haven't heard in a very long time. I love this song so much, but I didn't know that Bob segar sang this song. The rambling gambling man wow.
I was born lonely down by the riverside... learned to spin fortune wheels and throw dice ...I was just 13 when I had to leave home.i had to rome....you Rock BOB only you can rock a organ 😅
Groovy! Detroit White Boy Funky Blues at its Finest! Rock-steady back-beat with awesome bass playing backing up Seger's Bad Boy Road Man Macho Bravado. Tough guy act complimented by pretty rhythmic keyboard chords and soaring background vocals. Bravissimo!!!
Happy Birthday Bob Seger born on May 6, 1945. He is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Seger
I did I lived in DETROIT at the time and was blessed to see them live and drinkin beers with the guys at local bars in Detroit an Ann Arbor FUN TIMES by ALL the 60's in good old DETROIT
Jeez ! I Haven't Seen this Black & White Footage and of the System Too !! The 1970 Color version came next after this one and there is a keyboardist and Bob Segar is playing guitar .
Hello Suzannehiggins1053, how're you doing, Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!❤️
I live me some Bob Seger music. Thank you Bob for all the great music to put to our memories. Your music truly makes life better for everyone. God bless.b
My Aunt and her girlfriends would go see him back in 69 when he played at the old Valley Dale here in Columbus, Ohio. My Aunt was 18 or 19 at the time and borrowed my mom's 1967 Rambler Rebel to go and see the concert one Saturday night. I was only 12 at the time and noticed the rear passenger window broke out when I went outside Sunday morning. Man, you never heard two sisters get into it as much as I did after snitching on her. I guess my aunt and her friends pissed off some guys because mixed with the side window pieces there was also brown glass like from a beer bottle laying all over the back seat area....lol
Thanks for posting this. I never had seen any videos of early BSS...when my friend Pep used to drum for them. glad to see it now. I hope you're well, Pep!
Always wondered why Pep Perrine left the band. That was around the time that Seger "retired" and went back to college in '69 for awhile...bassist Dan Honecker left about the same time--Bob has had his current bassist since about 1970 and the "Mongrel Tour"----would be fun if Bib brought Pep and Dan back for one last show.
@@essessessesq Dan Honaker died in 2009, so that won't happen. Be cool if Pep could bring the classic drum kit (with the suspended kicks) out of mothballs, though. I see Pep put out a solo album in 1969 (about the time the band was struggling through "Noah", I guess). Be interesting to hear it.
Oh. OMG. Amazing. I totally fell I love with him.... “Ya know I ain’t good lookin’”....Ah, Bob, you’re all I needed..... Take it from a smokin’ hot chick back in my day....
From time to time I have to watch this over and over again. It’s gritty. It’s sexy. It’s a dream for those of us who love good music and the beginnings behind those who are so special. I watch this, and see a very humble, talented, and (then) unknown gem, who I’d still love to meet one day, just to say thanks for rocking my soul!
I travel 300+ days a year and never look back to where I’ve been. This song literally describes my life in soul I love this song in so many ways. Legend.
One of the best rock songs ever !
Luis H. Lopez agreed
Just too short which is always the case with a great song. A few more verses would be fantastic.
Absolutely magnificent!

Top 5 for Me
Bob had 100 years of soul already at a young age
How was he such a soulful guy at that young age.
one handed keyboard, the other holding the mike. that is called a musician.
BOB(aka Bobby to us) IN
DETROIT, HE HAD MANY
MANY ONE HANDED
TALENTS!!! 😍😎🗯🖤
Realizing, of course, he was lip-syncing.
Charles K. Chaffin LOL! No mic stand not even a bench to sit down on times were hard!
hmmmn
None of that is played live. Still a great video.
Bob is an American song writing treasure.
When music was music! The beat, the bass, the keyboards, the vocals!! Freakin' awesome!
I listen to this sone 10 times in a row!!!
“ You can have your funky world, see ya around.” Classic
Had no idea Segar was performing in the b&w days. Love this song. Easily on of my favorite rocking songs.
A real toe-tapper, leg-shaker, head-bobber of a song!
First song I ever heard by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. I was in love at note. Then I saw him do this on TV! He was just the perfect image of rock n roll! I’m 72 now and still love him and listen to him. ♥️ And yes I still dance to his songs! ❤
Only a rambling gambling man can truly appreciate this jam. 😮
I am not a rambling gambling man. I’m Gen Z and I love this song
It's still a Groovy song in 2024
Totally!
One hand holding the mic while the other hand rocking the hell out of the keyboard. Can't get any better than that.
So ahead of its time, I've always thought this song was from the 70's!
Omg no this was from 68-69
I love Bob Seger. I love his music. But he never made a song better than this. It's perfect.
First time I saw him. Fall of 1968. Springbrook Gardens. Lima Ohio. Saw him seven times in two years.
Fortunate 😮
that opening drum beat is up there with when the levee breaks as far as great opening drum riffs ..you know you are gonna get a musical ass kickin when ya hear that haha
Detroit ass kicking rock and roll, Folks! Bob flat tearing it up!
...one of our many Detroit Wheels .

One of my favorite Bob Seger songs!
I think it is his best song!
Saw Seger many many many times in his early days. He was great. This was my favorite song of his.
Hey Darling, I saw him when he started his career at the ,” Hideout” in Southfield Mi. 64’ as I recall. Loved his first song, “East Side Story”. Check it out on Google. Eric.
Loved “East Side Story”
Mine, too!!
The first Bob Seger song I ever heard (on the radio) back in '72.
The radio ...what's dat you say?
Just kidding.
Baby I'm amazed how quickly radios have disappeared...even on the thrift store shelves...
Poof!
The guy on the bass is A mad man,it always amazed me a band with just three players in it put out such sound, like Jimi Hendrix Experience,zz Top,Grand Funk Railroad, Bob and these two guys are pounding that Detroit Sound.😎😎😎
Dan Honaker. Flint Michigan native.
They're lip syncing here. The studio track had more than 3 musicians I gurantee it lol
313 forever
Totally agree! And you can add Rush and Triumph to that mix too!
@@benburleigh6379 I was just going to bring them up along with quite possibly the best rock trio ever - Cream.
"We don't need no stinking lead guitar!"
This is a fantastic clip. Thanks for sharing it.
One hand on the keyboard ... one on the mic ... bass groove from heaven and a rockin beat = what the ... happened to music?
Capitalism
It was lip synced and the music was a recording
Just dig a little bit dude, it's out there.
Man. These early clips of Bob from the late 60’s & early 70’s, before he blew up nationally with Live Bullet in ‘76, are so cool, showing that he always had it. It just took the country a little while to get hip…🙏🎼😎
I saw them in 1978 in Los Angeles when I was stationed in Long Beach in the Navy - They performed every song off the Live Bullet album and more
This song right here I haven't heard in a very long time. I love this song so much, but I didn't know that Bob segar sang this song. The rambling gambling man wow.
This is my anthem, what a jam
Bob segar is the best period!
When I play this the neighbors hear it. All 225 homes on our lake.
Fuck yea! It’d be cool if you lived on table rock!
Roses are red
Violets are blue
When I listen to Bob Seger
My neighbors do too
You're a good neighbor.

... I am going to sing this in the bar at lunch tomorrow with a special girl in Daytona Beach - the WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS BEACH...
When I pull into the Casino parking lot this is on my stereo full blast.
Love this!!!
One of the background singers and musicians was Glenn Frey!!!
Groovy! Detroit White Boy Funky Blues at its Finest! Rock-steady back-beat with awesome bass playing backing up Seger's Bad Boy Road Man Macho Bravado. Tough guy act complimented by pretty rhythmic keyboard chords and soaring background vocals. Bravissimo!!!
Definitely show his Motown roots. Bob sounds awesome!

He’s so young!
I know what you mean, Kitten . I didn't recognize him w/o a beard.
I could listen to this track all night lol
Best live show.
Good drummer!
That's Pep Perrine. I later worked with him (in non-musical capacity)...he gave up the R&R life in a quest for higher purpose.
What was his higher purpose? A higher calling?
Awesome Steve! Can’t believe you found this:)
Bob Seger was so young here.
I can hear the South Detroit in Bob's voice.
