I loved this video. Thank you! I really enjoyed reading How to Steal a Dog and Restart, and I want to read Wish and the others you mentioned. It’s so great to see kiddos love reading. 😊 I have enjoyed reading to kids since I was a kid myself, and absolutely as a teacher.
Some of my favorites… I teach third grade. Absolute favorite historic fiction is The Ravenmaster’s Secret: Escape for the Tower of London (Chef’s Kiss) I really like Restart too. Read aloud is my favorite time of the day. It is my nonnegotiable.
I will definitely read some of these books.
When I was teaching, this was my favorite part of the day! LOVED reading to my students. I would read Wonder to my 5th graders. When I had middle school, I taught a very difficult 7th grade class. They all "hated" reading and had poor test scores. I knew I was going to have them so I spent most of my summer searching for the perfect read aloud. I chose The Face on the Milk Carton. I purposely would stop at all the cliff hangers. They would BEG me to keep reading! At the end, I had a boy who literally went to Barnes and Noble and purchased all of Caroline B Cooney's books. Mission accomplished!
LOVE these book recommendations- Betty always reminded me of Nelly Olson from Little House on the Prairie-
Yes!
I do bookstore read to you
Noooo! No skipping curse words! It brings me so much joy to say the curse word in a whisper and the kids reactions are hysterical! I do tell them at the beginning that the author used words for a specific reason and we will read it as the author has written it. 😂 all the books you shared are amazing.
