The comment of being pretty was because of Korea has this "beauty standard" and mamamoo isn't considered pretty in their country. So the agency was telling them honestly their looks isn't considered beautiful or pretty. So they will be prepared to what's ahead. But told them by continuing to be who they are and Performing they will win people over. Because one of the biggest things about Korea is that majority of the groups made are based off of looks. It's very rarely you were fine someone actually knows how to sing. And Mamamoo is one of the rare groups. Most of the time the groups are made up of dancers and looks if there is somebody that know how to sing its at least one or two people from the group and the rest are dancers or because they look pretty. That's why I feel like majority of the singers sound the same they have the mousy voices and they have this cute concept so the company picks people that looks good. Mamamoo is 100% the only group that sounds different. Each member have a different voice different sound different personality and vibe off of each other very well. And they are not afraid to be different. and that's why I like the company they're signed to and is small. If it wasn't so small I think they would have been able to promote more than what they can. But by luck they were able to be more involved in their careers. You don't see girl groups doing what they do that's because they were allowed to write and produce some of their songs choreographed their own routines style themselves they basically were able to give their inputs where if you're from a big company you're not in control of anything. But because they're from the smaller company where they're not able to do as much the company allowed them to show themselves more. They're also known for being beagles. They're loud cheerful silly and always like to have fun. They're known to bring life to a room and stage. When asked if they were told to tone it down, because some companies tell their idols how to act, they stated that their company encourage them to keep doing what they were doing keep being themselves.

I mean to be honest most groups have at least one good to amazing singer like Yuju of Gfriend or Eunji of Apink, in Gfriends case most are pretty good singers to be fair but that's kinda an exception. Mamamoo is all pretty amazing singers though so they took it one step above basically all groups not to mention their stage presence is insane.

Their CEO is a famous singer and he know that most of the GG is needed someone to be pretty, but they all have normal height, theyr not considered incredibly cute or gorgeous in the k-beauty, and is a fact when they debuted they called out hwasa being too fat to be a GG.

"In My Room" is indeed a Moonbyul solo and greatly underappreciated as well. If you're looking for more to react to, there's some quality Mamamoo solo content out there. Moonbyul's Selfish (ft. Seulgi of Red Velvet) and In My Room, as well as some of her special stages like Love and Hate (which got a special performance video), and Mirror and Moon Movie (there's a fan subbed video out there, it was a live performance). Wheein has Easy (among other features with other artists but that's the one with the most react worthy MV by far). Edit: Also she covered Bruno Mars and there's an MV out there of it. Solar actually doesn't have an official solo, she did a cover album that has some MVs and she also did Honey Bee with Luna (of f(x)) and Hani (EXID). And you've already seen Hwasa's Twit, but she also has "Be Calm" which has an MV and an emotional backstory. And of course Don't with Loco. Also funny you should mention how jazzy her voice is, since if you go back before the 4 seasons project began, Mamamoo's main sound/concept was retro and jazz.

yes if you don't have time to record but you have time to listen make sure to check their album from debut to the present their side B of the album is really great. Watch Don't be happy it's a predebut song before their official Debut Mr. Ambiguous and also watch Piano Man an Woohoo. I actually love all their song specially their ballad "Sting, my everything, emotion, rude boy, my star etc. but they definitely can sing any genre seriously never encounter a GG before that all members have the same amount of talent, charm or x-factor, visual, vocal etc. All member can Sing, Dance, Rap, Compose and write lyrics they participate in making their album from song to choreography. Their live performances guesting in other program are choreograph by members they listen to each other and accept opinion and correction for the team to grow and work out. Timbre... you were close. They definitely don't look like "most" K-Pop girl stars, so that's what they meant by "conventionally pretty". But their looks have caught on more even in Korea now that they are top stars, including Hwasa, who was especially singled out for not fitting the mold. Internationally, looks come in a much wider array of people, so they are all pretty/beautiful to international fans. Moonbyul prefers to be called handsome, though. ;) My favorite Mamamoo song/video is Decalcomanie, dance practice version. My favorite Mamamoo related videos are the four MoonSun on Crack videos by Tomiskus. Oh, and check out the parody videos from Nihon Saranghae for Um Oh Ah Yeh, Aze Gag, and Starry Night. VERY funny. Then there's "Paint Me", which is a soft, sentimental song & video, and the "parody" only adds to how touching it is. All of these would make great reaction vids.

Be prepared on/around May 2nd because Whee In will be featured in the MV & song of her [& Hye Jin/Hwa Sa's] Idol, & a Legend in the K-Pop industry, Park Bom Noona of 2NE1. You can see their love & respect for 2NE1 because one of the inspirations behind Hye Jin's Solo at MAMA 2018 was CL's Solo & 2NE1 Reunion from the MAMA 2015. Then during their Promotions for GGBB they (unfortunately) shared stage & faced off against Park Bom Noona (she had released Spring, her comeback single) and Hye Jin did the DEEPEST BOW that hasn't been seen from Junior to Senior in a really REALLY long time in respect to Bom Noona. At the beginning of this video, Yong (Solar) performed "Temptation" for the Debut Episode of a new Korean Show. This performance was special because the original Korean Singer [The song released back in 97, it ranked 14 or 15 on the Charts back then (iirc)] had told the Producers of it (They wanted her to be on the Debut Episode) that she would only do it & subsequently/momentarily come out of retirement if Solar was on the Debut Episode as well as her partner. Solar agreed to be on the Debut Episode and thus, the original korean Singer behind Temptation came out of retirement to do the Debut Episode. Solar made it to the end where she would then have to compete against the Top Artist for 1997. Solar lost BY TWO POINTS/VOTES , it was that close. The premise of that Show is to have Stars of this generation team up with those of a particular year (Debut Episode focused on 1997) where the would compete to see whom would go on to challenge the Top Artist of that Year. It serves to reintroduce the older generation of music with the current generation of viewers, but also to see if the #1 Artist of that Year would still be on the Top for the current year/generation.

there's so much to suggest i don't even know where to begin... won't do individual links, or this'll be beyond huge. will just give general ideas, really first off, glad that someone mentioned solar's yt channel. she mostly updates every thursday, and it tends to take a while before fans upload the subtitles to the videos (though the latest one had them up in under 24 hours, though the one previous to it was still being worked on) you'll want to see more of their mvs, of course, especially title tracks. everything from the beginning until now, since they change genres up as they go. early on had a lot of retro, jazzy feel and there's still a bit of that even in their newer stuff. and don't forget about the b sides, whether they have actual mvs or just lyric videos, they're all good. typically, they'll promote a b side (usually a funny one) alongside the title track of each album during a comeback. the funny b sides include 'taller than you' (dissing each other's heights), 'aze gag' (literally about dad jokes), 'sleep in the car' (how rough idol life can be) and, more recently, 'waggy' (pets). also, the very first one, 'pink panties', even though it's a hwasa solo. on their first album. the song and video are both ridiculous. in the best way possible a very, very important thing to remember, though, is they are always better live. the charisma, the energy, just the sheer joy they exude when doing anything live is beyond amazing. you'll likely want to shop around for these, check out different types of performances such as music show comeback stages (the show, inkigayo, music bank and such), concerts/festivals, live radio show programs (sounds weird, but a lot of these do get filmed), yu hui yeol's sketchbook (a music program with probably the greatest audio system ever. also, the host's name gets spelled differently in a lot of places, but i believe that one is the one used on the official channel's translations). and then there's the immortal songs program, which is its own category that pretty much defies any description other than "must see". but yeah, solo or as a group, collab, cover or original, everything they do is golden. and then even more so when it's live and then there's their variety show appearances. everything from weekly idol/idol room to knowing brothers (were on a recent episode this one, even) to showtime (with the group gfriend. they got partnered with them in several shows, including an episode of weekly idol) to one lucky day. i'll include their own mamamoo tv here, even though it's just one of their staff following them with a camera behind the scenes for random things, just because they're so funny. and it lets you see more of the real, offstage them. a sort of funny thing is, though they're naturally hilarious on these shows, they actually aren't too fond of them, in general, saying they feel too restricted on them. which is really odd to think about, considering they're probably the wildest, most spontaneous group i've seen on any of those shows (mmmtv doesn't count, of course, since it's their own thing and they do whatever they want there. no rules, really. and that suits them perfectly) ...ok, ending this here because you wanted suggestions, not a thesis and this is already way too much...

oh, and not all of this is for reactions, really. some of them, like the variety shows, are an hour to an hour and a half long. and while quite a lot of funny stuff goes on in them, that can be a pain to record, but well worth watching off-camera and some of the mmmtv episodes are great for reacting to (episode 6, 'how to play in the car' comes to mind) but overall, they're great for binge-watching in your own time so you can get your mamamoo fix while still saving things for reactions i'd also like to second whoever suggested winternyth's individual guides for the members. they were done over a year apart, but all hit some of the highlights of the various members from their talents to their personalities to their just individual crazy comedy skills

When they hold their yearly major concert they each have a solo stage and do a few covers, which is where most of those live clips of western songs came from. They're big fans of Rihanna (Hwasa esp), Ariana Grande, Beyonce and Bruno Mars so you'll find quite a few covers of their songs. They love jazz and hip hop and their voices are perfect for r&b so you'll also find covers ranging from Nancy Wilson, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Yoon Mirae (the queen of k-rap) to an amazing rearrangement of the old Tom Jones song Delilah as a lesbian passion play for a performance on the competition tv show Immortal Songs 2. As others have mentioned, new moomoo are encouraged to watch their 13 legendary appearances on Immortal Songs 2, where singers & groups perform new arrangements of classic songs. MMM won three times (I think they're still the only idol group with multiple wins on IS2). Since Solar is your bias here are some of her solos & collabs: Hello - her solo song on MMM's Blue;S album (she wrote the lyrics & music) Lie Ya - collab with Cosmic Girl, who has written & produced many songs for MMM Charm of Life - collab with Super Junior members (comedic crackheads collide) Honey Bee - collab with Luna of f(x) and Hani of EXID Coffee & Tea - collab with Eddy Kim Angel - collab with Wheein (Solar & Wheein are aka the Angel Line) Solar has written or co-written lots of songs for Mamamoo. Your Solar flare will shine even brighter if you check out the song she wrote as a love letter to fans: I Love You Too (aka Tears) and the song she wrote for all the important people in her life, Star Wind Flower Sun. She has a rep for being a high note belter but imo she's also one of the best vocal stylists in kpop (along with Hwasa and Wheein). As you said she has a beautiful timbre and she has a way of caressing notes that's so intimate it's almost illegal. Her enormous heart is most exposed on songs like I Love You Too, Star Wind Flower Sun and Hello but she can kill you softly just by bending a note in any of their songs. 💙

Pole dancing in South Korea is seen as an art from and a good workout. Solar has only been doing it for maybe a year. Look at Solar's legs and arms in Starry Night then look at them now she is still tiny and slim but well toned.

A MooMoo caught her shirt, & after the concert as MMM were driving by the MooMoo's the MooMoo that caught the ripped shirt showed it to Solar & it was a fun exchange. I find that Korean fans are really unforgiving on female idols. They have a certain perception of how an idol should look and sound like and will tear down any girl who appears to be otherwise. Mamamoo has been criticized for sounding "too old" - these people need to wake up and realize what a gem these 4 girls are. They look and sound amazing and stand out with their vocals, stage presence and confidence
They are pretty, but compared them with Momoland, or Snds, twice. Ittzy, DÍA, Everglow, almost all Wekemeke, or even Dreamcatcher, these groups have like super pretty almost super model girls, that’s what they are meaning, not that the company said to them that they are not pretty, just that they aren’t a super model group like others, it’s no. Hate comment Mamamoo is one of my biased groups

yes if you don't have time to record but you have time to listen make sure to check their album from debut to the present their side B of the album is really great. Watch Don't be happy it's a predebut song before their official Debut Mr. Ambiguous and also watch Piano Man an Woohoo. I actually love all their song specially their ballad "Sting, my everything, emotion, rude boy, my star etc. but they definitely can sing any genre seriously never encounter a GG before that all members have the same amount of talent, charm or x-factor, visual, vocal etc. All member can Sing, Dance, Rap, Compose and write lyrics they participate in making their album from song to choreography. Their live performances guesting in other program are choreograph by members they listen to each other and accept opinion and correction for the team to grow and work out. Timbre... you were close. They definitely don't look like "most" K-Pop girl stars, so that's what they meant by "conventionally pretty". But their looks have caught on more even in Korea now that they are top stars, including Hwasa, who was especially singled out for not fitting the mold. Internationally, looks come in a much wider array of people, so they are all pretty/beautiful to international fans. Moonbyul prefers to be called handsome, though. ;)
My favorite Mamamoo song/video is Decalcomanie, dance practice version. My favorite Mamamoo related videos are the four MoonSun on Crack videos by Tomiskus. Oh, and check out the parody videos from Nihon Saranghae for Um Oh Ah Yeh, Aze Gag, and Starry Night. VERY funny. Then there's "Paint Me", which is a soft, sentimental song & video, and the "parody" only adds to how touching it is. All of these would make great reaction vids.

Welcome to the Radish Fields & the MooMoo Empire. Be prepared on/around May 2nd because Whee In will be featured in the MV & song of her [& Hye Jin/Hwa Sa's] Idol, & a Legend in the K-Pop industry, Park Bom Noona of 2NE1. You can see their love & respect for 2NE1 because one of the inspirations behind Hye Jin's Solo at MAMA 2018 was CL's Solo & 2NE1 Reunion from the MAMA 2015.
Then during their Promotions for GGBB they (unfortunately) shared stage & faced off against Park Bom Noona (she had released Spring, her comeback single) and Hye Jin did the DEEPEST BOW that hasn't been seen from Junior to Senior in a really REALLY long time in respect to Bom Noona.
At the beginning of this video, Yong (Solar) performed "Temptation" for the Debut Episode of a new Korean Show. This performance was special because the original Korean Singer [The song released back in 97, it ranked 14 or 15 on the Charts back then (iirc)] had told the Producers of it (They wanted her to be on the Debut Episode) that she would only do it & subsequently/momentarily come out of retirement if Solar was on the Debut Episode as well as her partner. Solar agreed to be on the Debut Episode and thus, the original korean Singer behind Temptation came out of retirement to do the Debut Episode. Solar made it to the end where she would then have to compete against the Top Artist for 1997. Solar lost BY TWO POINTS/VOTES , it was that close.
The premise of that Show is to have Stars of this generation team up with those of a particular year (Debut Episode focused on 1997) where the would compete to see whom would go on to challenge the Top Artist of that Year. It serves to reintroduce the older generation of music with the current generation of viewers, but also to see if the #1 Artist of that Year would still be on the Top for the current year/generation.

there's so much to suggest i don't even know where to begin...
won't do individual links, or this'll be beyond huge. will just give general ideas, really
first off, glad that someone mentioned solar's yt channel. she mostly updates every thursday, and it tends to take a while before fans upload the subtitles to the videos (though the latest one had them up in under 24 hours, though the one previous to it was still being worked on)
you'll want to see more of their mvs, of course, especially title tracks. everything from the beginning until now, since they change genres up as they go. early on had a lot of retro, jazzy feel and there's still a bit of that even in their newer stuff. and don't forget about the b sides, whether they have actual mvs or just lyric videos, they're all good. typically, they'll promote a b side (usually a funny one) alongside the title track of each album during a comeback. the funny b sides include 'taller than you' (dissing each other's heights), 'aze gag' (literally about dad jokes), 'sleep in the car' (how rough idol life can be) and, more recently, 'waggy' (pets). also, the very first one, 'pink panties', even though it's a hwasa solo. on their first album. the song and video are both ridiculous. in the best way possible
a very, very important thing to remember, though, is they are always better live. the charisma, the energy, just the sheer joy they exude when doing anything live is beyond amazing. you'll likely want to shop around for these, check out different types of performances such as music show comeback stages (the show, inkigayo, music bank and such), concerts/festivals, live radio show programs (sounds weird, but a lot of these do get filmed), yu hui yeol's sketchbook (a music program with probably the greatest audio system ever. also, the host's name gets spelled differently in a lot of places, but i believe that one is the one used on the official channel's translations). and then there's the immortal songs program, which is its own category that pretty much defies any description other than "must see". but yeah, solo or as a group, collab, cover or original, everything they do is golden. and then even more so when it's live
and then there's their variety show appearances. everything from weekly idol/idol room to knowing brothers (were on a recent episode this one, even) to showtime (with the group gfriend. they got partnered with them in several shows, including an episode of weekly idol) to one lucky day. i'll include their own mamamoo tv here, even though it's just one of their staff following them with a camera behind the scenes for random things, just because they're so funny. and it lets you see more of the real, offstage them. a sort of funny thing is, though they're naturally hilarious on these shows, they actually aren't too fond of them, in general, saying they feel too restricted on them. which is really odd to think about, considering they're probably the wildest, most spontaneous group i've seen on any of those shows (mmmtv doesn't count, of course, since it's their own thing and they do whatever they want there. no rules, really. and that suits them perfectly)

and some of the mmmtv episodes are great for reacting to (episode 6, 'how to play in the car' comes to mind) but overall, they're great for binge-watching in your own time so you can get your mamamoo fix while still saving things for reactions

Oh, I can absolutely believe that they're underrated!!! (I DON'T KNOW WHY!) I've been into kpop for almost 2 years now and I only heard of them when Starry Night came out! I'm glad I'm not sleeping on them anymore!

When they hold their yearly major concert they each have a solo stage and do a few covers, which is where most of those live clips of western songs came from. They're big fans of Rihanna (Hwasa esp), Ariana Grande, Beyonce and Bruno Mars so you'll find quite a few covers of their songs. They love jazz and hip hop and their voices are perfect for r&b so you'll also find covers ranging from Nancy Wilson, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole and Yoon Mirae (the queen of k-rap) to an amazing rearrangement of the old Tom Jones song Delilah as a lesbian passion play for a performance on the competition tv show Immortal Songs 2. As others have mentioned, new moomoo are encouraged to watch their 13 legendary appearances on Immortal Songs 2, where singers & groups perform new arrangements of classic songs. MMM won three times (I think they're still the only idol group with multiple wins on IS2).

She has a rep for being a high note belter but imo she's also one of the best vocal stylists in kpop (along with Hwasa and Wheein). As you said she has a beautiful timbre and she has a way of caressing notes that's so intimate it's almost illegal. Her enormous heart is most exposed on songs like I Love You Too, Star Wind Flower Sun and Hello but she can kill you softly just by bending a note in any of their songs. 💙

I find that Korean fans are really unforgiving on female idols. They have a certain perception of how an idol should look and sound like and will tear down any girl who appears to be otherwise. Mamamoo has been criticized for sounding "too old" - these people need to wake up and realize what a gem these 4 girls are.
