      There are many different types of fuzzy stuff and it changes depending on the situation and game. A simple fuzzy block is like if you know the timing for the low and the overhead, you block low when the low would hit, then block high when the high would hit. This example in the video is a bit more complex because it covers several options, it's more like an option select type of thing. Fuzzy attacks would be the jump attack from SF shown here.

      I think the idea is to do 2 things 1 right after the other, and depending on the circumstance 1 or the other comes out. An example i understand better from street fighter 3rd strike is to parry(press fwd) then block immediately after. If their attack hits u quickly itll get parried, but if they delay it you'll still block. In other words, its a case where you lose nothing for trying to parry, failure just means youll block. In this video i think it's that youll block for a second then throw them if u can, but if they hit u first you'll at least block it

      fuzzy throw delves in the fact that you have a few of frames invuln frames on wakeup. so you block for a few frames and then inputs throw (because thats the timing when you CAN be thrown)

      Fuzzy is basically when you are trying to deal with two things at once.
      If someone is mixing in strike/throw on their offense, you can press block and quickly afterwards press jump.
      ~The block will block the attack, but in case they go for a throw, you would have already jumped in time to make it whiff.
      Someone can beat you doing this by delaying their buttons and catching your late pre-emptive jumps.

      For fuzzy jump, you can set up the dummy as Sol for example to do c.S > dc > tick throw in one slot and c.S > delay f.S > 5H in another one. Tick throw from c.S is used often for strike/throw mixups, and c.S > delay f.S is a common frame trap to catch mashing opponents. Set random playback and try to jump out. You succeeded if you jumped out when the throw came after c.S, or kept blocking when the delayed f.S came.

    I don't quite know if I understand. Does it only work because you're inputting a move very briefly, then immediately hitting down back again? Like is it a tight frame window? If not why does the game prioritize blocking over throw/jump/button if you're about to get hit?

    • @Pandaman64
      @Pandaman64 2 роки тому +7

      The idea as I understand it is you block briefly, then input grab at around the time that you should be in blockstun.
      If they attack you block,and if they try to throw you tech.

    • @trewe0413
      @trewe0413 2 роки тому +7

      It’s the opposite, you’re blocking for a few frames when you expect to get hit, then inputting another action. If your opponent attacks you in that time you’ll block it, but if the opponent doesn’t attack you, the other action will come out

    • @Jaquinus
      @Jaquinus 2 роки тому

      How I understand it it works 'cuz of the interaction of a couple mechanics, proximity guard and button priority (I think it's called that?).
      Proximity guard means that if you're pressing a back direction you will enter a blocking state 'cuz moves have an additional box, that usually appears instantaneously and with a reach that tends to be farther than the move actual reach.
      Button priority is when, if you press 3 buttons at the same time (let's say, P, K, HS), the game will prioritize some actions over others, generally from the weakest to strongest button. Again, I don't know if this is the correct definition/name but this is how I understand it
      Now, 'cuz FD you FD by pressing P and K and throw with HS, the game will always give you FD 'cuz P and K are higher priority while HS/Throw is in the beckgroung. NOW if the opponent presses a button and you did you fuzzy correctly you will block it 'cuz FD is being inputted, you enter blocking state 'cuz of proximity guard (I think? maybe this part isn't actually true w/ FD and you just time it right), you block the attack. If they throw you you have that HS input going in the background and 'cuz you can't really do much else while being thrown the game will give you the throw tech.
      This is why delayed inputs beat this fuzzy/Option Select. You're past the point where game will give you the blocking state 'cuz you momentarilary flicked FD.

    • @williampounds5191
      @williampounds5191 2 роки тому +3

      ua-cam.com/video/gXELggw3_KQ/v-deo.html watch this sajam vid. but the game doesnt so much prioritize blocking it's just that if you're blocking you are literally stunned so you CANT do anything. thats why its called block stun. so if the opponent DOESNT attack you, you don't block. You do the other input instead. So all you're doing is blocking for a few frames in case an attack comes and input your jump, throw, backdash, attack, whatever you want that will happen if you are NOT in block stun if your opponent did not opt to attack you. This is also how its countered. If your opponent guesses what option you will do they can delay their OWN options, thats where the layers come in.
      So a fuzzy throw tech is hedging against a meaty, or a throw, or them doing something just too close to you thats vulnerable to a throw and all you have to do is hold back for a few frames and then input your own throw, seems strong! But If they think thats what you will do they can simply walk out of throw range at the moment you input throw, you won't be stuck in blockstun because they did not attack you so your throw happens. You'll whiff your throw and they can punish. Say you fuzzy jump instead to beat the throw instead because you wont whiff a throw that way. You don't want to hold jump immediately because an attack will hit your jump! So you block for a few frames to defend an immediate attack attempt but quickly jump if you aren't put into blockstun. Your opponent can instead not attack you during your blocking input so you will not get stuck in blockstun leaving you free to jump. They instead DELAYED their attack to tag your jump. Hopefully this all makes sense.
      It's all about abusing the fact that different options come out at different times and the game makes your decisions easier by locking you OUT of doing something because of blockstun even though you're sort of doing multiple options at the same time.

    • @no_nameyouknow
      @no_nameyouknow 2 роки тому +3

      You can't throw when you are in block stun, so the block stun protects you from getting hit while trying to throw. If they dont attack and go for throw, then you will counter it. If they do attack you will simply block.

    I'm confused, do you need to flicker FD to fuzzy? In what situations should you flicker FD vs not?

    • @yourbellboy
      @yourbellboy 2 роки тому +2

      fuzzy OS's don't need to use FD, they're just rhythms 🎵 of defense that are meant to cover set variations of pressure.
      Romolla's Strive example was jump-in/low oki--a good fuzzy guard could stand block & crouch block in rhythm to guard either ↔️ possibility. the jump-in is *always* earlier, the empty low is *always* later.
      (check Infilament's "Fighting Game Glossary" to learn more)
      i didn't play enough Xrd to be 100% sure how FD flickering worked 😅, but it seems it used to 'eat' other inputs, so the flickering allowed a fuzzy throw tech that would never 🚫 output the 4H.

      People get weirded out if you don't say "Lab".
      They say "5P/K/S" even though you don't input any directional motion; cluttering sentences visually and adding unnecessary syllables verbally.
      "Meaty" used as a Verb, with no context. Same for "Fuzzy". "RPS" used instead of "Guess".
      I've been playing Fighting games for a long time, and I've always noticed this trend, and it only serves one purpose; to let other people know you play fighting games.

      @@punishedbrak4255 the use of 5 is very important though. You should know this as a GG player but 5 lets You know its a idle input and not 5P and 6P are different buttons. Just like how jack-o 6HS is vastly different than jack-o 5HS. one being a single hit antiair while the other is multihits . Fuzzy just means to cover multiple defensive options at the same time.
      RPS doesn't mean "geuss" thinking RPS means geuss is a misunderstanding. Geussing is being hit by a mixup. RPS means rock paper scissors and its for situations where both opponents have to geuss what to do in a RPS situation. Yes its "geussing" but its a square rectangle scenario. EVERY RPS scenario is guessing. But not all geussing is RPS. Its a very important distinguishment. An example of RPS is pokken tournament . Pokken tournament abuses the actual fuck out of RPS with it's grab-counter-strike scenario being present every 2 seconds. Grab beats counter. Strike beats grab. Counter beats strike (strike just meaning a regular attack) its called RPS because it is literally just rock paper scissors. Its prevelent in many games. But pokken is just a really good example. An example of "geussing " is being put in a dbfz true blockstring. Theres nothing to do there you just geuss or get hit. Hope that clears some things up. Meaty is when you press your button frame 1 so you always get the hit

      It's a kind of option select involving timing. You hit block, then throw, then block again. If you do it right, you will block the attack or break the throw and there is no risk, unless they know you are doing a fuzzy and counter by delaying their attack. But at that point you have got them delaying, which means you can take your turn. As with most things, it's not a 100% answer, it's a technique that covers multiple options so it limits the amount of guessing you have to do.
      So instead of having to guess if they are going to throw or attack, you can cover both with this one technique.

      You block for a few frames when you expect to be hit, then input another action. So fuzzy throw would be inputting block for a few frames then throwing, fuzzy jumping would be inputting block for a few frames then jumping. The key thing is that this loses to opponents who do delayed options to catch what you’re fuzzying (delayed lows to catch fuzzy jump, delayed buttons to catch you in throw whiff/move startup)

    Fuzzy os? Isn't this just called an option select? Blazblue is full of them im not sure why you would refer to this as "fuzzy" you just let the game dicide what happens based off the multiple inputs and the following game state. Where as fuzzy implys that there was an ambiguous situation animation or a quark of the game engine allows for a gameplay state that is incongruous to what you imput. Like instant jump fuzzy overheads hitting standing opponents that the game counts as crouching. How come deb refers to this as "fuzzy"? Just wondering.
    Edit: ooooooh they mean fuzzy mashing ok that makes sense i understand why they make an effort to distinguish between traditional os (one timing works or it doesn't) and fuzzy mashing (variable timing not entirely couterplayable by the opponent).

This makes it so if they do a low attack you’ll block it, if they do a slow/delayed button you’ll jump out or block it in the air, and if they try to throw you’ll tech it.

      If your opponent mixes up between a safe jump which hits on frame 1 and a throw which hits on frame 3 then you can do block into throw tech on frame 3 to beat both options since if they go for the strike you block and is stuck in block stun on frame 3 so the throw doesn't come out and if they throw you tech it. They can beat it by hitting you on frame 3 instead but that means that the strike is no longer a safejump and you can then just DP or reversal super the strike or throw instead. The general idea is that you delay the input of defensive options to beat their mixup and they need to change it to hit you. Commonly by hitting both options on the same frame
