  • SoftBank has made waves with its $93 billion Vision Fund technology investment vehicle. But many in the industry have been asking: What is Mr. Son trying to do?
    Mr. Son said that it all went back to artificial intelligence and robots:
    "What is my belief and vision for this investment? I have only one belief - Singularity."

    150 years ago "jobs" didn't exist. Well, they did but it used to be called slavery and indentured servitude. Almost everyone was an entrepreneur. AI is going to return us to that era. "Experts" in every field will design ai that incorporate their knowledge and automate their labor. Everyone will be able to have their own business. Their will be unprecedented value creation. All value creation comes from human thought but 99% of people today waste their thoughts and energy on menial tasks. Human progress is literally going to explode as we expand the number of minds that are focused on solving problems and creating new things.

      You talk as though creation is something that’s easy to come. Most people do menial tasks because they are simpler and easier than actually creating something that’s of value. Creativity comes one in a billion and that one makes a lot of mistakes before creating the few valuable creations.

      99% is a pretty pessimistic diagnosis. What statistics are you basing this on?

    LISTEN! All of you think of AI as some foreign, super-advanced, incomprehensible technology. IT'S NOT!
    YOU can learn how to program AI. LEARN! It's not freaking hard. You can speak a language for god's sake, think about how complex the language you speak is, stop thinking you can't learn anything. AI is something that EVERYONE can and will use and understand. We are only afraid of things that we don't understand.

      I believe it will become much, much easier to pitch AI acceptance to the masses when climate change kicks in forcing mass migrations world-wide. The argument will then become: only AI (Artificial Super Intelligence, to be specific) can save us from our stupid selves and our planet from becoming uninhabitable. That's how to sell it.

    If Son is correct about singularity in our life time then Elon Musk would of also be right with his prediction. I think beyond singularity is where we need to be at. The definding moment when human is faster than the super AI. Humans designed with advanced super computers.

    This is a wonderful vision for the future, however, when autonomous robotic AI reach the singularity we will need a new socioeconomic model, as the underlying principle that makes Capitalism viable, *labor for income* will have been completely eroded.

    • @BMoser-bv6kn
      @BMoser-bv6kn 6 років тому

      It's classic projection. Like the 'ole "I'm not a racist, you're a racist" and "letting women vote will turn men into slaves to women". The fear of retribution of other people doing to themselves what they've done to other people is deep.
      "Stealing from people who work" is the very definition of capitalism itself, a more perfect explanation could not be made. The Waldens steal from two people in every transaction: once from the employee and again from the customer. If the employee owned his own labor, that'd be one less victim.
      But many wage cucks are brainwashed into thinking the only way to acquire currency is a wage, and of course capitalists want to excuse their greed, entitlement and laziness. It's pathetic.

    • @veganath
      @veganath 6 років тому

      yakyakyak69 perhaps I should have qualified that *labor(physical and intellectual) for income* is currently the only asset or capital that the vast majority possess. In any case we will as a species need to give serious consideration to ameliorating the impact of disruptive technologies on the ability of some to 'make a living'. On an aside, the fact that we deem our new technologies as disruptive speaks volumes about the relevance of our socioeconomic system and NOT our technology. Do u at least acknowledge that we will have to adapt our socioeconomic system to be aligned with the exponential rate at which technologies are displacing people from their livelihoods?

    • @nickfleming3719
      @nickfleming3719 6 років тому

      The solution is education. Of course this is disastrous if we keep creating people who only know how to survive in the old system. 1. Our educational system only teaches children; lifelong learning is no longer an option but absolutely necessary to adapt to these changes. 2. Our educational system teaches people how to be employees; "employees" are going away, we have to teach people entrepreneurship, we have to teach people how to learn, we have to teach people creativity, independence, and problem solving.

    Human will kill human during that time. I mean no jobs, the rich stay rich, no food, and all the low and middle class will die. Bad vision. He said "money is not important", but $$$ is what he is chasing. This is a mad-man!

    • @nickfleming3719

      You can learn to program artificial intelligence. Anyone can learn. Create an AI that automates something. Sell that AI to a rich guy. Now YOU have the money. Use that money to hire another person to help you create better AI. Sell that for even more money. Use that to buy machines to make something, use your AI to automate the machines so you can make it cheaply. Sell the things you make for super cheap. Now even poor people can afford to buy what you make. Don't kill anyone
