    I find I combine a lot of these with "ja" when I speak German. For example saying "ja natürlich" or "aber ja natürlich", or even "ja, sicher doch", "ja, das kann man wohl sagen" etc. "Ja" is like my automatic response while I think of something more exciting to say 😂

    here is the list. (?) means I never heard it. But I only lived in Germany 2 years. The tricky part is knowing all the special context and shades of meaning.

    I think the reason why I remember these words that you teach us is because of the examples you use. They are very helpful and funny that I just remember them and the word linked to them. Like when you pretending to be a butler😂

    One of first words That made me interested in German is Jawohl when I played battlefield 1942 as German army
    Still can't figure out why we pronounce w as w in English instead of v

    Oddly enough Dominik, Naturlich (sorry, I'm yet to figure out how to get a u umlaut in my English keyboard) is also used in Dutch/Nederlands although it's spelled as Naturlijk. So I guess, it must be very easy for Dutch speakers to speak Deutsch.

    I absolutely love this series! I have to admit, I have heard quite a few of these from my late husband and my in-laws. Do you think it might be because they are from the North like you?

  • @Mercure250
    @Mercure250 4 роки тому

    I believe the equivalent of "in der Tat" would be "indeed". Like "Tat" comes from "tun", "deed" comes from "do" (sorta). Of course, that doesn't mean the use of the word is necessarily exactly the same.

    Question about "Kann man sagen" ...Does it sort of imply "One might say that"... "though they maybe shouldn't" ? I'm not sure I understand this one. Other examples for this one?

    I hear jawohl all the time and my husband says it pretty often (we live in Germany). Is that weird? Maybe it's the place we live. Anyway, thanks for the video.💜

      HoppyPumpkinDance I think it’s just where you live. Like in the south in the United States you’ll hear “y’all” more often then in the north.

    I try to use German at any moment. So I just replace the English words with the German words.
    It confuses everyone.
