New drinking game: Every time a British general talks about a big break through that would be exploited by cavalry. Take a shot.

Sooner or later, law of averages, the British will take enough land to get a horse into. Catch the Germans on an 'off' day. I'm not saying soon, but it must come, as long as they keep trying.

Considering the context, it sounds like a film non-romance movie fans would see as there'd be lots of blood and vodka.

It would be the kind of story that ends in tragedy and leaves a deep moral lesson for the audience to ponder. Something a la Tolstoi's Ana Karenina.

Kornilov gets his moment next month, when the supposed coup named after him unravels and Kerensky sacks him. Follow the weekly episodes and you´ll know more than most.

All this talk about Haig is reminding me of that scene from Blackadder:
(Blackadder finds out that German spies are stealing British battle plans)
General Melchett: You look surprised Blackadder.
Captain Blackadder: I certainly am sir. I didn't realize we had any battle plans.
General Melchett: Well of course we have! How else do you think the battles are directed?
Captain Blackadder: Out battles are directed sir?
General Melchett: Well of course they are Blackadder, directed according tot he Grand Plan.
Captain Blackadder: Would that be the plan to continue with total slaughter until everyone's dead except for Field Marshall Haig, Lady Haig, and their tortoise, Alan?
General Melchett: Great Scott! Even you know it!

What is going to happen once Russia signs the armistice with Germany? Is this show still going to cover them, maybe at least in general terms?

This may have been done already and if so I'm sorry, but could you please do an episode on the capture of the Mephisto tank next year and also perhaps an episode on the French Foreign Legion's involvement, specifically German soldiers?
    Thanks

Hi Indy I have question for The Great War. I know the Ardennes is famous for it's invasion of France and the battle of the bulge in WW2, but did the Ardennes actually see any fighting in WW1 during the initial invasion of Belgium in 1914? If so I would really like to hear about them. Doesn't matter if they were just small skirmishes. Thanks, you guys have an awesome channel and I hope you get to a million before 11/11/18!

Will Davey There was big fighting in the first days of the war, as a part of the Battle of the Frontiers, a French offensive was to break through what they thought to be the weak German centre, only to run into entrenched German positions, losing thousands

I like this show, but Indy and his pals often use the official british historigraphy source. The documents that said that the bolcheviqs were funded by Germany were considered a typycal false flag by the bolcheviq leaders, and there is great controversy about that untill today. This sould have been mentioned! Therefore, there was no big clash between bolcheviqs and kerensky forces, the soldiers who did not wanted to go to war were peacefully demonstrating, when the provisional government forces opened fire towards them. This is not a typycal "clash" between forces!
Anyway, I really like this show, but I believe you should give the two sides version of the same event. It seens a little bit strange when you are condemning the slaughter of the modern war, and at the same time, only give the version of those who defend this slaughter against the one's who believed it was a bourgeouisie fight, and demanded immediate peace.

Correction - The state of Croats, Slovenes and Serbs was not agreed to be a monarchy but a parliamentary republic and it was constituted in October 1918. but it was dissolved in 33 days into a monarchy ... why is a topic for a documentary series on it own.

Hey Guys, You used to get a cut if I purchased merchandize from amazon, is this no longer the case? There are a few movies about WW1 and I would prefer if you recomend them and give you a cut in the process. Cheers
Also, movie recomendations would be great, like Flyboys or the Blue max.

I don't understand how the Russian army is even holding together at the moment. With two governments claiming legitimacy and neither really being effective, how is the army paid, supplied and commanded?

I have meaning to say for a while that I think the Russian revolution would be a great topic for a "The Great War" UA-cam channel. Of course, it should not be exactly centennial. But if you guys are looking for a new historical subject, I think this would not only be fascinating, but introduce a lot of people to a period of history that we in the USA don't know much about.
