Here's what they say about it:
With the TU-3W, BOSS brings Waza Craft mojo to the world’s leading stompbox tuner. At its core, the TU-3W provides rock-solid tuning equivalent to the industry-standard TU-3. In true Waza tradition, the pedal’s benchmark functionality is further enhanced with BOSS skill and craftsmanship. Pure, uncolored signal transfer is essential for a tuner, and the TU-3W features redesigned circuitry with selectable buffered or true-bypass operation and the most transparent audio pass-through possible. Packing high-end performance for discriminating players, the TU-3W delivers a premium pedal experience only available from BOSS.

I have the TU 12 since 1986 or so...still wrking like a charm...
Ash Richards it’s cause it’s BOSS ! Built like tanks mate!
Boss should do an improved Noise Suppressor (named NS-3) or a Waza version (NS-2W) because people seem to complain about the pedal. Might be a popular improvement.
I agree. I’m shocked they haven’t updated the model in so long.
They just did look it up
@masonmiller8105 I saw that they released videos for the NS-1X today. Some are pointing out that it might get passed over by some users for being digital and introducing additional AD/DA converters into the signal. Leon Todd did a video and it seemed like a decent unit. He also showed how to set it up to then go about tweaking it for your rig/playing style, as the controls might confuse some users.
I have a NS-1X and it is better than expected! I am more than happy with it’s performance!
Thank you for the review, and for pointing out how buffers affect fuzz pedals. I’m buying the TU-3w specifically for this reason, as I have several buffer pedals and don’t want to mess with the sound.
I'm buying one mint today for $100....checkmate boss. It's genuinely amazing and being able to be true bypass is amazing. This buffer is powerful btw, definitely good one
The video would benefit from some sound samples showing that it sounds better with the buffer turned on.
I've had a Peterson StroboStomp tuner on my pedalboard for a few years and love it, it's damn accurate. I have to admit that this BOSS TU-3w looks sharp.I might give it a shot based on aesthetics alone, something I never do. I can't imagine the BOSS being any more accurate than the StroboStomp, which is an actual strobe tuner.
It's not more accurate, but at least it's not made in China junk unlike Strobostomp. If you want a strobe tuner with the best accuracy (and the fastest one), then it's Turbo Tuner ST-300 all the way. Made in USA rugged build and looks infinitely better than Strobojunk.
@@mouthmw I'll check it out.
In this video you will learn it's black, it has blue lights instead of red lights, and the video claims it also has a better buffer.
I want to power a vintage fuzz face with the output of this pedal. Is it isolated from the tuner? Because the manual on the fuzz face says that ground on the pedal is inverted and a isolated one is needed
To make it clear. There is no reason you should ever spend 150$ on a tuner UNLESS:
- You are going to make use of all the features like the Buffer and all the different tuning modes.
- You really want that blue light and really like the aesthetic.
- You're a BOSS and or Waza Craft Series fan and want this for your collection
If none of these 3 is the case you can get very good and sturdy tuners for half the price and save the rest for a neat effects pedal or whatever other upgrades you're looking forward to.
Completely agree
Ya, I'm just going to go and buy a new regular TU-3. I didn't even know what buffers were until I looked into the difference between the TU-3 and the TU-3W.
@@JacksonBrooksbybut you said in the title that it’s “totally worth it” 🤣🤣
Interesting point about the buffer not effecting pedals. Might be worth a look. As a buffer-man I am always on the lookout for a buffered pedal to sit at the front of my 'board to replace my dedicated buffer (the idea of added functionality appeals to me).
Not sure I could bring myself to buy something branded Wazzercraft, though. hehe
I seen the name of your channel and instantly chuckled as I came here to check out this pedal !😂
I'd buy one if its 2x tu-3 price, but its almost 4 times, should i wait prices cool off? lol
How long has some of the guitar players been playing here? and where? Bedroom only and ever? I use the Waza tuner and the buffers in the Waza range are clearly better if you use your ears! if you use expensive guitars/amps etc. it’s not a bad tuner investment for long term!! a better buffer isn’t a bad thing as well! and the TU-3w also tunes very well! No fancy stuff!!! Boss pedals are also tough!! So the Waza is good to take on the road!! especially if someone has long cable runs etc. as for the screen, I prefer the blue :) everyone goes with what works for them! but I can’t stand when someone will simply say the Waza is crap? it’s exactly the same as the normal model!! no it’s not! the little differences can be great for some players :) I’ve seen players use that behringer stuff which is fine but sadly I have seen those pedals break down on stage!! Never seen a Boss pedal die on stage! Everyone has a budget but don’t bash something that has a bit more quality added
The boss tu-2 was my favorite pedal back in the day, before all my gear got stolen. I’m just now looking to replace all that gear and my pedalboard again, and I’ve got my heart set on one of these.
The white TU-3 is easier to see in low-light situations
On a pitch black stage all you need to see are the LED’s
Totally, the white pedal with the classic LED colours are much easier on the eye on a dark stage. Hence why TC dumped the polytune blacklight version with blue and white lED's...it just doesn't work as well on stage.
Just bought this today!
Does the Waza detect the notes faster than the regular TU-3? I use a TU-2 with a bass guitar and I find it quite slow in tracking, especially in drop tunings.
Hm dis chromatic tuner waza in your country? Thank u so much in advance!!!!
About £120 GBP
Love my TU-3w,, I've noticed my tuner doesn't have those two sweeping blue lights that meet in the middle (when the green light shows its in tune).
Is this a feature I can turn on? I know the previous version TU-3 did that too, just figured the Waza Craft didnt do that.
Yeah man it’s something you can turn on. It’s called Accu-pitch! Have a look in the instructions
Well damn... haha thats sweet, I was bummed that it didn't seem to have that feature. Thanks for making this video,
Blue LED's on a dark stage are the worst.
Dear reviewer. If you can hear a difference, demonstrate the difference. If you think the lights are easier to see in sunlight, test this out for us and report back. Show us how that superior circuitry makes the tuning functionality better by tuning a guitar for us to see. Your current review is meaningless and, as a very young person, you need to trump experience with experiment.
So you think it should be called “Dipshit” instead of “Dipswitch” ? 🤣
Dude it's a fucking tuner pedal lmao have you ever used one before? We all know how it functions and don't need to be spoon fed with a demonstration
@@MetalMayhem1978 lmao savage
Just say you're broke lol, guy said his piece and at the end of the day if you're not a broke bitch you'll just buy and test it yourself
This or the Polytune 3?
Never tried the polytune 3 but I am happy with this one
Get this. I'm selling my polytune to get it. Do yourself a favour and steer clear from the polytune, lots of glitches.
Polytune sucks.
@@thereallbking really???
Standard Boss TU3. On this instance, the Waza thing is unnecessary and indetectable.
I have an old TU-2 and it works fine, I’ve never found myself wishing it had an “upgraded buffer”. Pure bollocks this is, 😂
Sounds like you can’t afford one.
Yes, the soft dulcet tones of a chromatic tuner
I've had the TU3w about six months and it is without doubt the best tuner I have ever had...except for one issue: after using it a while, like when Im setting up a complete set of strings, it just shuts off and does not respond to pedal presses. Sometimes if I unplug and replug the input, it starts up but doesn't stay on long enough to tune one string! I've tried removing and reinstalling batteries, putting brand new batteries in, to no avail. When I test the battery after removal the meter indicates a full charge and it work fine in other chargers.
Anyone else have this problem?
I have not had this problem before. I would suggest contacting boss support... There may be a repair option available to you under warranty. Worth asking!
Sounds like dirt or oxide in your input jack (in the ring contact)
I just can't stand the white markings all along the display. I don't want any distractions, especially when I only use standard tuning. I own one but can't stand all those bright white markings. i'm going to have to tape over it with electrical tape.
Congrats :)
And you've gotten the MIJ model (silver screw) other than the MIT model (black screw). I also have the MIJ one! Great tuner!
Can't tell if this is a joke. All the WazaCraft pedals are MIJ. That's one of the selling points.
The Waza craft pedals were previously MIT and then inspected in Japan. They are now all made in Japan.
@@JacksonBrooksby Fuuuuck just noticed my SD-1W is made in Taiwan. Japanese named product made in Taiwan...awesome....Learn something new every day. Least my ce-2w, bd-2w, and tu-3w are MIJ.........well.....now I have an excuse to buy another SD-1W haha. "Babe...this is the MIJ silver screw edition....I don't have this one......"
@@longlivegarybusey6409 Dude.... It's a screw lmao. Go buy a silver one and replace the black one? There you go, saved you like $150
@@alexmurphy5289 Sometimes the quality of MIJ internal parts are better, or at least that's what I've read. But I did swap out the screw for a silver one and called it good. Close enough.
Why buy one of these for $160ish when you can get a used TU-2 for a hundred dollars less. Or you could get a Behringer TU300 for $35. $160 to tune a guitar? Or just call it what it is: Pedal lust. I can understand that.
"The signal is cleaner when it goes to the WAZA Craft edition" wow, you have no idea of electrical engineering & the "old edition" buffer. The signal is just as good as in the "old" one. Period.
nothing says 'i had an extra 50$ to spend that day' than that waza logo!!!
well I just used mine for the first time and it went back and for with the blue light and NEVER LOCKED IN on the green EVEN WHEN I put the Snark on the headstock AT THE SAME TIME ......I'll stick with the cheap ass Snark....I don't do any shows and just jam at home.....NOT FOR ME!!!!!!
Well...it's black. Apparently
If the price is worth it for the color alone in your opinion, then your opinion is worthless. Thanks for making this short.
Random person stumbles across your channel while searching for information. Watches your video and only gets words from a talking head on a product review. Why should I trust you? Subscribe to you?
It’s worth more money because it’s black 😬 don’t show this channel again YT! 😮💨
Oh my god, please review the actual pedal. You have actually dissuaded everyone who has watched this from buying this awful marketing ploy
Ok so wheres the tuning demonstration? The bypass demonstration? You really didn't need to make this video because what did you tell us? That it was black had different lights and buffer? Ok. Do better if you're doing gear videos.
If you think it's worth the extra money just because it's black you're going to love the new Disney Movies.
Nah.........I prefer the old Disney Movies in Black & White!!!
