Different games are played for different reasons...you don't play Arma for giggling like a schoolgirl and goofing off, you play it to get to act-out a situation in which you likely will never get to do in real life. Same for most tactical games like HLL, Squad, Post Scriptum, etc...people play it for the immersion, the terror of the psuedo-realism, the communication aspect, the tactics of maneuvering and command, etc. Yes, some people that play these games are former military, but that's a minority, so...for most gamers that play these games it's the only taste of military teamwork they'll ever have, so...why not take it seriously sometimes? I'm not talking about being a d-bag and flaunting authority if you lead a squad, some people get really egoistical and whatnot, but like...playing the game smart and making sure the players in your unit actually can succeed isn't a bad thing... it's why people usually play in the first place. If you want laughs and full on casual gameplay then play Fortnite

This video takes me back to when I was playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory on PC back in the early 2000s. I met a dude playing medic who went by "Quebec" and we rolled together for several games. Ultimately we were separated by early 2000s internet speeds, but I haven't lost hope that one day we will be reunited. I think we all saw a little bit of ourselves in Pvt Vomit. We're emotionally invested in this arc now.
