I would too if I made millions. I don't mind paying Fed taxes, California state taxes are unreal. 13.3% Cap Gains and 13% high income plus Fed tax. On average that's 50% cashing out on investments. Florida is the only state that is somewhat decent to move to, all but hurricanes, 1.5% on property tax, mosquitoes, alligators, crocs, heat and humidity.

Go read about California's Prop 13 law enacted in the '70s. Unlike the rest of the country, Californians don't have to deal with property value reassessments and corresponding increases in property taxes. I hear horror stories about people being taxed out of their homes in other states. If you are retired and own a home in California, it's best to stay put.

As a long time CA resident I absolutely support and applaud Sylvester's decision. I've done my research and know that I'll be moving to either NV or TX in the next 2 years. This state has changed for the worse and if you've been here the entire time and voted against all of it but had it all forced down your throat, as I have, you will understand why so many are choosing to uproot and start again elsewhere.
Most people move bcuz they can't afford the lifestyle they want in Cali. Let's be real. They have to go to the ugly desert states like AZ , TX or one full of hurricanes, bugs and alligators 😀😀😀.
Nevada is a great choice. There are alot of options when you get there. You can get to Arizona quickly and to the National Parks. There's Lake Meade and lots to do in Nevada. Gas is cheaper in Nevada and life is more balanced.

If you come to Texas - welcome - but please don’t make it your life’s goal to “fix” Texas and make it like California- by voting for Democrats. The people fleeing California are infesting our state by the hundreds of thousands and are threatening our way of life. All the large cities and universities are already woke and I fear we are destined to turn socialist blue as more and more companies relocate to Texas and bring their rotten employees with them.
I moved to FL in 2014. Haven't paid a penny in state income tax since. I could be lighting my cigars with $100 bills with the money I saved. Yes, there is crime everywhere, but crime in CA is off the chart. In 10 years have yet to see a drug zombie sleeping, shooting up or tenting on the streets. Now, I can go to liberal areas like St Pete and have been confronted 3x by drug zombies and nearly robbed once... that click in my pocket scared the 2 thugs from in my face to run across the street. But in the conservative city I live in, on our beaches, don't even try it, you will have cops swooping down on you in seconds, you will be arrested, held in jail, tried and sent to prison. Funny how that keeps crime down.

Florida is known for playing fast and loose with their statistics like it did during the epidemic. Maybe the governor has convinced the police to report or not report crimes in a certain manner. I can google crimes in Florida and see that it isn't Disneyland yet. Homes are still being broken into.

You can find crime in any state or small town. So she is saying any place you are is all the same with crime? The crime rate per 1000 is WAY higher is california. But she dont see it because she never has to leave her mansion.

Just one anecdote out of many: I was in a meeting in Berkeley sitting in the far end of a large room, when some young guy who was sitting way on the opposite side was whining that he couldn't stay because I wasn't wearing a massq. It didn't matter that I was not the least bit sick, but he was sick in the head like most of the people in that town.
