Thank you Angela, this review saved me thousands of dollars! I moved into this house the bottom of my shower has extremely fine grid pattern also like window screen. It was discolored and looked filthy. I tried soft scrub with bleach and a stiff brush. No change. I tried bar keepers- no change. CLR- no change. Pure bleach- no change/ bleach and enough water no cover, soak overnight- no change. Zero products used made any change to the bottom of my shower. I figured when we bought the house the prior owner must have scrubbed off the finish and it was the primer showing through (there’s a chip so I know it’s black under the white tub) Fast forward 18 YEARS!!!!! Yes 18 yrs - after watching this I figured I’d try cleaning with it since the review was so great. My regular weekly cleaning I scrub the tub down routine I noticed the tub near the drain starting to whiten……. I continued up the tub More Whitening!!!! Unbelievable after a TON of scrubbing with a stiff brush I finally got the bottom of my tub white!!!! This stuff is AMAZING!!! I had a contractor in to remodel the bathroom because it looked gross and he told me it’s so much work just repaint the tub and gave me a card to a guy who repaints tubs. I was shocked the contractor walked away from a job but now I’m so thankful he did Thank you Angela for this review
I LOVE this review. I’ve spent so much money, that I really can’t afford, replacing, refinishing, professional cleaning, etc. I’m learning that it wasn’t always necessary. Thank you for sharing your story.
I LOVE these product reviews with the safety and chemical info. So many people have no idea how to use products on certain surfaces or how to mix or not. Sooo useful. Thanks!!
Nobody ever taught me how to clean a shower before. I have a terrible problem with mold in the grout and even bleach didn't seem to fix it. I'll try this product next, and with what I've learned from you I think I will have good success! Thank you for helping me learn!
My family owned a small motel in a beach town from 1981 to 2000. Greased Lighting was the go to cleaner. Spray it in the shower, or tub, let it break down the grease while you are cleaning the sink, and toilet. Come back to the tub with a small amount of brushing, and suntan oil melts away.
Thank you Angela, this was exactly what I needed to hear for the garage shower. It is the shower the guys use after mechanical work. Did an amazing job. I was a faithful subscriber and stopped for a year or so, I am back!!!! You are the Best!!!!
You said what I have been thinking since I began following her. She's fabulously talented and the best educator in her profession and since "cleanliness is next to Godliness" I could more than likely eat off the floor in her house😊! THIS is the product I have been waiting almost 5 years to hear her talk about! @askahousecleaner
Here's a tip: To reduce the overall amount of mold and how fast it builds up, after using the shower/tub, leave the shower curtain/door open and leave the light on in the bathroom until the shower dries (hour or so). You'll still eventually get mold, that's unavoidable, but you can significantly reduce how much and how fast it builds up. ;)
Thanks for the tips. You're absolutely correct about leaving the shower door/curtains open to ventilate the space. Also if there is an open window or air vent that will help reduce the moisture in the air as well. Thanks for sharing this. 👏👏👏
I use a floor fan after cleaning the shower. Leave the shower door open and the fan blowing facing into the shower until every nook and cranny is completely dry.
The shower in my bathroom is designed almost exactly the same as the one in your video. Mold develops almost exactly the same way as shown here also. I already have Greased Lighting on hand, because I use it as a laundry spot treatment for bacon grease or other spatters on chef aprons and other fabrics. Never thought about using it in this way. Will definitely be giving this a try. Thanks so much for this information.
Angela! You are just a world of knowledge!! It's been years since I've used Greased Lightening...I'd forgotten how good it was! I have trouble with mold in many of my walk in showers in the summer months here in Ohio! Thx for the advice!! Found You and your videos about a month ago..I am just in my 4th year of business..You have certainly inspired me..and validated many of my concerns re: running my own business! You have been such a Blessing to all if us in the business! Keep up the good work! And Thank You Kindly!!
I worked in a pipe fabrication shop as an apprentice pipefitter. We had a band saw that we used for cutting struts and small pipes. It used an emulsion as a lubricant. I had no pipes to cut one morning, so my boss had me clean up the band saw ans the cabinet it sat on. This product worked wonders
Have used this product on greasy things like grills and tools, but never would have thought it would work for mold & mildew. A revelation for me - thank you!
I used it on a stove vent hood that was thick with old oil build-up, dust and mystery splatters. I let it sit for maybe 2 minutes, and wiped it all away with a damp cloth. I didn't think to try this in showers, so that's good to know it's safe for those materials as well. I will be using it in the shower next time.
My mom kept this in our house, initially as a pre-wash degreaser for my dad’s work pants, then we started using us for ALL kinds of stuff. When I left home I used in my homes and vehicles. It just works! It definitely demands we respect it. Ventilation is very important.
Greased Lightning has been my go-to cleaner since it was first introduced and I literally buy it by the gallon. If it's grubby, I clean it with Greased Lightning. I have a large plastic container for dog food for my 80-lb Standard Poodle. I like to clean the container before refilling it. Dry dog food leaves a greasy residue and Greased Lightning is great for that. I don't think I've ever tried the Super Strength but definitely will try to find it. Right after my shower (still bare and wet) is usually when I scrub my shower. I've never had an issue with Greased Lightning harming my hands (or feet) but, again, I haven't tried the Super Strength.
That's great to hear! Greased Lightning has been your go-to cleaner for various tasks, including cleaning your dog food container. If you're interested, you could try the Super Strength version for tougher grime. While you haven't had issues with the regular version harming your hands or feet, it's always a good idea to take precautions and use gloves. Thank you for sharing your positive experiences with Greased Lightning!
Subscribed! I’ve been catching up on your videos after finding you when i moved into an old, stale, smoked-in rental home. Thank you SO much for all your help. Even when I’m not cleaning, just listening and learning from you lifts me up and makes me feel good. Thank you so much! 💛
My husband uses for the cars, never thought to try oil the bathroom! We have a texture on our tub floor which is very difficult to get clean so I can’t wait to try this!
This product us great to use in the laundry to treat clothing that has gone through the dryer with crayons. I believe I also soaked some clothing that was harder to remove in a solution as well. It has been a few years....
This is the best product and I'm so happy you brought it to the forefront. After being in many rentals that needed a thorough scrubbing this is the only thing that did it without causing a stress
+AMY K Hooray! There are so many great products on the market. It’s awesome when you find one and then stick with it. I’m so glad this is that product for you. Thank you for watching. 😍
I'm a huge fan Angela, but a new one. From watching your previous posts I can tell you favour products that have the least impact on our environment but this product, for all it does, it has a relatively detrimental impact on the quality of water in our lakes and streams.. Even the advice to rinse the spray bottle well be fore adding it to your recyclables doesn't make sense. First, it flushes whatever residue remains into the water supply, second, to what end, as most of our recycling is sent to landfills regardless because the cost of recycling is greater than the cost of landfills. I love your tips, they've changed the way I clean and the time you take to discuss products, their dangers and proper use are invaluable to me. You above anyone, might be able to devise a cleaning method using less harmful ingredients. I have complete faith,.
+Apo Fatrim Hey thanks for your feedback. It’s important to recognize that strong chemicals do have a place in cleaning heavy duty jobs. After a surface or appliance is clean you can maintain it with a less detrimental product. It’s good to know what the heavy duty products are in the event that you ever have to use them. Thanks for watching. 👍
I just found your web page because we no longer have a cleaning lady. My wife is disabled so I am our new cleaning guy! I have always used greased lightning on the fiber glass on my motor home, and it does an awesome job. I haven't been able to get the bottom of our showers clean and I don't know why I didn't think about using GL before. Thanks for your video!
Front Door Housekeeping has been using Grease Lightening for 2 years as bleach products are too strong. Thanks for the video! Great way to bring in the SDS info!
Wish we had special drains in our society to dispose of chemicals since this stuff makes it to our water sources. Great video and channel, especially the paper organization video. Thank you.
Yes, to what you said. Many cleaners are now moving to steamers and other ways to use less chemicals when cleaning. You're correct about the waterways and our earth is suffering from it. Thanks for the reminder.
@@AskAngelaBrown I got a steamer today, after your convincing comment and watching some videos of how effective steamers are. =) I currently use a wet mop with wringer and dirty water catch bucket.
Could you do a video on cleaning grease off of kitchen cabinets..walls and the vent how to clean it moved into my 1st place and I hate cooking and stuff getting on walls ugh
Congratulations on your big move. I'm so excited for you! Do you know about Krud Kutter? It's sold as a concentrate and is AMAZING for the type of thing you are talking about. amzn.to/3fQqssa you can find it at Home Depot and it does wonders for greasy areas like vents, cabinets and walls.
As an RN, I so appreciate you giving the MSDS information!!!! Not only why and how to use it. Too many people have burned their lungs in commercial cleaning enterprises with NO PPE used or even told how to use it! Does this remove soap scum? Not really concerned with mold but that yucky soap scum! Worst job in the house, IMO. YES, Worse than toilets! Thank you!
Toni Stark If you want to get rid of everything in your shower just buy Spray Nine and a brush with a long handle. It is a shockingly effective APC, almost as strong as Super Clean, but also will sanitize/disinfect/deodorize/mold-inhibit/etc Hose down your shower (when it's dry) with Spray Nine, let it dwell 3 minutes, and then brush. Pretty much any gunk or scum will just melt off with no effort. Don't get it in your eyes. Keep your bathroom vent fan on or window open while using it. Respirator not needed.
@@Jasruler Thank YOU! Where can I find this Spray Nine? IT sounds wonderful!!! I wanted to use the vinegar, dawn soap concoction but my husband can't stand the smell of vinegar ! No matter how well ventilated the room or house is, he can smell vinegar a mile away so I am stuck! None of these scrubbing bubble type bathroom cleaning products do ANYTHING so what a waste. Please let me know where I can find Spray Nine and I will sure give it a try. Thank you so much for responding. I think you may just have the answer
Toni Stark Home Depot or Wal-Mart will have Spray Nine. I suggest you get a gallon of it -- it's cheap and you're gonna love it so skip the single serving bottles. Again, you'll want a reasonably bristley brush on a long handle to work with. If you go to home depot get a Zep spray bottle. Yellow head, blue handle. They're excellent for high volume spraying. I also cannot stand vinegar smell, it is unbearable to me. Plus, anyone who honestly thinks a homemade "natural" mixture will cut gunk, grease, scum, mold, crud, etc and sanitize, disinfect... AND deodorize... AND rinse clean... (the list goes on) as well as something that chemical engineers cooked up in a well funded lab is tragically wrong. I trust science over hippies. 😜
Toni Stark oh, and if you have like absolutely relentless shower buildup, get yourself a tube of Bartenders Friend powder and a buncha sponges/scrub pads. First you'll let the spray nine dwell to soften up the gunk, then give it a hot rinse of water, shake the Bartenders Friend all the hell over the place, and work your scrubber pads like you're doing chest compressions. For real, use that palm on knuckles upper body + triceps thrust motion you'll decimate the scum then just a light spritz of Spray Nine to tidy up and boom shower is like new and smells lightly of pine. With Barkeeps Friend and spray nine in the same space: it's got oxalic acid and abrasive particulates. N95 Respirator and ANSI Z87+ eyepro recommended, but I'm kinda a PPE fanatic.
@@Jasruler Thank you again for getting back to me so fast! I bet Lowe's has it also if Home Depot stocks it. Of course, Wallyworld, how did I miss that stuff there? LOL Oh yes, I need a high volume spray bottle not those that barely spray and your hand is killing you from "pulling the trigger" so many times! As an RN, I too, trust science more than hippies :) Off to Home Depot and/or WalMart I go to get this! Again, thank you so very much!
I think you'll find that the "secret ingredient" is most likely ammonia, which can be used on its own as a cleaner and is common in cleaning products. I've personally used it to clean jewellery, including gold and diamonds to bring back ìts brand new look, although not suitable for pearls, opals and such like.
Interesting.... I love Greased Lighting for many cleaning projects, but never thought to try it on tubs or tiles. Thanks. I'll have to try that in coming days.
Thank you Angela for using polite and cute words like “Icky” or “Muketty”…it’s so kind of you! If you used the terminology of what it actually is, I truly am so sensitive, I wouldn’t be able to watch😅 I do have a cleaning question for you too: What should I use to clean oak banisters and handrails? Murphy’s doesn’t do the job. I have 3 sons that, may or may not be (🙄) washing their hands (😬) on a regular, or an as needed basis, like they should (plus their friends). Can I use Krud kutter? Or do you think that will that be too toxic for them? They are 15, 12 and 7💗
I used it on laundry grease spots. A soccer uniform. Had to let it sit for a bit. Applied twice. Let it sit longer the second time. Then laundered it. Saved the uniform. I put it thru two rinses.
I just use a mix of distilled vinegar and dawn dish soap and spray away in my shower and let it sit a few minutes and scrub away and it works wonders!!
Jelly Bean does that work on cleaning the tiles that surround the tub? Mine is so dulled and feels like scum from I guess splashing of water and the soap used while showering.
I've been using Greased Lightning for years, it's really good stuff but the fumes can be a little harsh. Also Lowe's carries a degreaser by Zep that is just as good.
I caught my husband trying to go out the door in a white athletic team poli that was filthy with stains. I love laundry stains and have my favorite methods to clean a variety of stains. THAT shirt has refused to yield! I sprayed it and a few other Ruined shirts with Greased Lightning. We will see if the last resort works. Otherwise, in the BIN! No Joy in those shirts with stains ;)
Thanks for the tip. I checked at Lowe's and there are several different types of Zep Degreasers available. Can you please tell which one you are using. Thanks
This is my favorite cleaner. I use it for almost everything. I clean the bathrooms, kitchen, floors (not wood), carpet spots, laundry stains and lots of other things. I’ve used it for years. My little one drew on the walls of our new house with a red Sharpie and it took that off. It says not to use on paint, but I did anyway. It was either going to clean it or we were going to have to paint anyway. We did not have to paint. A few years later, she drew with crayons on the ceiling of my two-week old new van. It took that off too. Good thing for her. She’s an adult now, but she still hears about that van.😄
Hi Angela, I just discovered your channel and love it! I've been binge watching and am learning so much! Thanks for such a quality channel and content. Sincerely, Mrs. Mr. E
Oh wow, that is so nice of you to say. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support and for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. I appreciate you. :-)
Love Greased Lightening! Use it in my kitchen, on my tile floors, on doors that come in from garage, baseboards.... my husband keeps one in the garage, too!
When you remodel, think about reducing the grout in your next design. Narrow grout and caulk seams that are finished flush with the surface are much less prone to mold and easier to clean.
Hello Ms. Brown and thanks for your knowledge. Just wondering what you would use to clean little black dots that look like mold that are forming on the ceiling above the shower/bathtub? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a great day!!!
This product was used by my landlord when I lived in California back in 2005. He did not warn before he used it in our apartment complex (6unit continuous multi-unit building). He used this product on the screws of the air ducts to the entire building. He sprayed it down EVERYONE'S AC vents on the roof and any air ducts that had screws in all the units. He did this while we were at work. Most of us worked during the day... since we were in the Mojave desert 90% of us kept all our windows closed and AC on cause it was June and it gets to be 100+ degrees daily. Needless to say 2 people went to the hospital for respiratory distress due to the fumes that built up and the rest of us had head aches, dizziness, and nausea. My ex and I at the time didn't know everyone's unit had the same fumes so we asked our neighbors we thought it was a gas leak or gas spill that was how strong it was...and found out we all had the same strange smell with the same symptoms. 1 of the tenants that went to the hospital was 6 months pregnant... when we tried to approach the landlord he skipped town. 4 of the 6 of us pursued a lawyer collectively due to the chemical exposure. But due to our lack of funds and it may be possible that because we (all 4 of us)were all brown or darker we only got granted the ability to leave our lease without penalty.. i hate that he skipped town then 2 weeks later posted a note on our doors about using the grease lightning on the ventilation system... It was awful... he still was able to rent to other people once we moved out. We notified the fire department too just incase any new tenants tried to live there...I'm just thankful I moved out of there before he used any other chemicals on the ventilation system...
Oh no, what a bizarre story. I've never heard anything like it. How does one use Greased Lightning on the ventilation system? I can't even imagine how that would work or why someone would do that. I'm glad to hear you are okay.
Great informative video. Have it on order on Amazon. I have been using "wet and forget" which is great for spraying on my shower tiles after I get out of the shower, leaving on overnight but sometimes it takes 2 applications.
I use 50/50 of dawn dish soap and white vinegar in a spray bottle for soap scum spray the whole shower and tub down let it sit for a couple of hours wipe down with wet wash rag make sure you ventilate it's kind of strong.
omg you always help me find great things. Thank you! I bought a 1980's house ugh. I am completely renovating but parts are disgusting. Plus I have about 37 animals. lol
I just subscribed, I love this channel Angela! I clean homes for an extra income, I do suffer from rheumatoid arthritis osteoaritis as well as mixed connective tissue disease so I greatly appreciate others sharing useful and helpful cleaning info & tips. 👍 Since your talking about cleaning products that have a higher toxicity rate, I do have a question about storage for us home cleaners..... primarily because of where I live and that I store most of my cleaning items in my truck. Ok so I realize that precautions need to be takin as far as keeping cleaners upright within a vehicle so not to spill. For me personally I keep a large tote with many chemical based items within it and my two storage caddy's with everyday cleaning items next to it, question I have is since I live in Florida and the heat index as you know is ridiculous, "is it safe to store such items as Grease Lightning within my tote box on a daily? Ever so often on a super hot day, I think about the safety hazards of some of my items. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much! I greatly appreciate your channel☺️👍✌️💕
Specifically for Greased Lightning, here is a link to the sds: www.physics.purdue.edu/primelab/safety/MSDS/SDS/Greased%20Lightning%20Super%20Strength%20Cleaner.pdf Section 7 has the storage recommendations, keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. You may need to supply ice packs to keep items cool and store in a special container. If you have time to stop back at your main hub (office) you could switch out the supplies in between jobs. For more cleaning product recommendations please seek out the specific safety data sheets.
I use vinegar & baking soda to clean my shower, Tip. Dry helpful, little scared to try it. But I will try it. I like when you ay leaving the world a cleaner place.
Same ingredient as Awesome cleaner, which has no info on the bottle and no longer lists it on the safety sheet. I just got rid of it, and after seeing this video, learning it requires goggles, mask, and gives, I’m so glad I did.
The LA Totally Awesome product gave me pause as the safety data sheets were always a bit sketchy and terribly vague. Unfortunately, I can't recommend any product that doesn't give me enough safety information me to make an educated decision for me, my workers, and my clients.
Mold itself is a trigger that let's us know there is too much moisture in the air. This could mean that the bathroom fan is not being used properly, or that there is not enough ventilation in the bathroom. And is the mold isolated to the bathtub/shower only? If yes, consider getting a dark spray bottle (These are my favorite because of the industrial size and spray nozzle, and light blocking capabilities - paid link amzn.to/3Fz1Ulx) and fill it with Hydrogen Peroxide. Leave the spray bottle in your shower and after each shower, spray the moldy areas with 3% hydrogen peroxide (this is the stuff you buy in any drugstore, or you can buy it in the gallon amzn.to/46OlKF8 - paid link) This will help the mold decompose and keep it at bay. NOTE: Remember to open a window, or use the bathroom fan during and after showers to ventilate the bathroom properly.
I like your energy and the way you explain things and your videos are very helpful. Have you thought about franchising your cleaning business, your process is very well thought out.
Thank you so much for your kind words, maybe one day! From your mouth to God's ear. Thanks for taking the time to write this comment, I appreciate it! 🤗
Greased lightning has unlimited uses. Be sure to wear a mask if you are in an enclosed room and ventilate if possible. This can be purchased in gallon jugs and 5 gallon containers to refill the spray bottles.
Hi Kathleen! Do you have a ceramic top electric stove? If so, here is a video I made: ua-cam.com/video/Z9EGjIFaMwo/v-deo.html According to the Greased Lightning website you can use it on stovetops too: greased-lightning.com/kitchen/
What tools do you recommend for cleaning bath tubs in the shower ? Do I need to use a new sponge at each house I’m cleaning or is there a better alternative? Starting a residential cleaning business and I want to limit the amount of tools I carry and overhead cost on disposable sponges and scourers
Congratulations on starting your cleaning business! Yes, you want to avoid cross-contamination by not sharing sponges between houses. Depending on how much it is used you may need to replace it anywhere from 1-3 uses. Sanitize and dry the sponge after your cleaning and then keep it in a labeled ziplock bag with the customer’s name and date. Don’t forget dusters, microfiber clothes and cleaning products for your cleaning caddy. Check out my videos for more helpful tips. Keep me posted on how the business is going. 🤗
So, Greased Lightening is safe to use on the dark shower frame? Thank you for this informative video. I've been afraid to clean my dark (bronze shower frame and threshold for fear cleaner would discolor the finish. I'm so glad I spent the last 4 hours looking at ways to clean my shower frame and black molded grout...I'm glad I finally found your videos. Yay! Almost forgot! What type of gloves are you wearing for protection?
Hi Rhonda, the Greased Lightning is a degreaser, so it shouldn't eat away or tarnish the bronze-coated hardware in your shower. Also, the gloves are most likely nitrile. (Paid Link amzn.to/3FaM9Cq) It's about all I wear.
Angela, I recently found your page and loving all the great cleaning tips. My question is about ceiling fans…I’ve seen posts how to clean the dust with a pillow case which is fine…but what about grease and grime buildup due to years of not being cleaned? Would greased lightning be an option? I have one in my kitchen and dining room which are probably 6’ apart from each other. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sharon
Hi Sharon, thanks for the kind words and for watching the show. The trick with a greasy ceiling fan is you'll need a ladder. Be careful when you climb on it and keep situational awareness about you. Yes, you can use greased lightening but put it on a paper towel and wipe the blades. Don't spray it directly on the ceiling fan. It may take off the finish if it is sprayed directly on the blades (depending on the finish.) It will probably streak and will need to be cleaned several times. The pillow case method works if you are super skilled - many people break the blades using this method. The key is to be very careful keeping the fan and your body stable while cleaning it.
@@AskAngelaBrown thanks so much for your expertise! Have been doing a major house declutter thanks to Clutterbug , The Minimal Mom and A Former Slob Comes Clean…a good cleaning is next for kitchen cabs and soffits including those ceiling fans! I’ll be tuning in for more household cleaning tips for sure! FYI- someone on FB said the new Dawn PiwerWash cleaner is great for cleaning ovens and no fumes…my self cleaning oven doesn’t work anymore…the door won’t lock…oh well…I tried it and it worked beautifully! Thanks again!
@@AskAngelaBrown Angela, I’m wondering if I told you that that bathroom, with the mold problem, doesn’t have a window. We are a bit afraid of bringing in a mold expert right now. Repair people in the past, said it’s probably because there isn’t a window. Hubby is now leaving the exhaust fan on about 20+ minutes. He is aware of the mold problems now. He is a very focused person. When he showers, he is only focused on that.
Angela, have a newer glass top stove with some unsightly scorched gunk marks at burner area. Regular cleaners won’t remove. And don’t want to harm glass. Would you recommend Greased Lightning?
Hi Tom, Greased lightning is a degreaser and won't do much for scorched gunk marks. I recommend in it's place Ceramabryte amzn.to/3eWby3L and a razor blade. Here is a video I made on how to do it ua-cam.com/video/Z9EGjIFaMwo/v-deo.html.
I have used Spray Nine cleaner that worked wonders - however, I used it to clean exterior gutters - and it stripped the color off the gutters. And so, although it has worked wonders, it is powerful to strip paint off. So I have been hesitant to use it. I've used it to get muck off the bottom of the shower - and bam - just let it sit for a few minutes and wiped up with paper towel and it worked very well. However, I am unsure to use it on showers and if it can strip the color off of things. Have you had experience with Spray Nine? Would love to know what I can use it on with peace of mind - since it works so well. Just scared I'm gonna strip the color off something in a customer's home - so don't really use it. Would love to hear your experience with this cleaner if you have used it. Also, I would like to thank you for your videos and how helpful you have been to me!!
If you're just cleaning your own bathroom, clorox gel cleaner with bleach (or any kind of bleach gel) works. The gel cling to the mold so it doesn't evaporate or run off do you can literally just apply it to the grout and leave it. No scrubbing required. I did this to my 1960s bathroom (no air vents) after I bought my house and the previous owners let mold grow everywhere around the shower
Since it is long lasting and reactive to aquatic life, I hope people who use it to clean their cars are careful about the run off? When that water runs into the storm drains, where does it go? Yikes!
I moved into corporate housing temporarily and was astonished at the condition in which the bathroom was handed over. The shower walls have at least five vertical grout lines filled with mold. I tried hydrogen peroxide, Barkeeper’s Friend, Clorox Clinging Gel Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Clorox foam bathroom cleaner, Kaboom foam bathroom cleaner with Oxi, StarBrite Mold and Mildew stain remover and nothing worked. I’m disappointed to report that this product didn’t work either. I even left it on overnight. Are there any other recommendations? I’m off to try Mold Armor next.
Hi Angela Brown, thanks for your lessons and videos I learn a lot from them. I subscribed to your channel.. I follow you... I am planning to start a cleaning company.. So.. You are teaching me a lot. Thanks once again
Hi Joseph, Welcome to the wonderful world of house cleaning. I'm super excited about your new journey. Please keep me posted. I'm here in your corner, cheering your name and clapping for you as you go by.
@@AskAngelaBrown wow, I am so rejuvenated, thanks for the Courage ,am looking forward to enjoying it.. Just know I love cleaning and I love a clean environment. Thank you 👏👏
I’ve used this in the past, and it does work. Does it clean anything significantly better than Krud Kutter? Is the increased toxicity worth it? I’m still loving Krud Kutter since I saw your recommendation, and it’s still meeting every challenge. :)
They are both degreasers and they both work well. If you like one better than the other stick with that one. Of the two Krud Kutter is my favorite (it is Safer Choice certified and designed for the environment.)
Thanks so much for this video! I wish I had bought this before buying Weiman gas range and degreaser product. I don't like using a product for just one thing, but I didn't know what to buy. You said that we shouldn't use Greased Lightening on wood cabinets. But how can I remove the greasy gunk from the cabinets above the gas range? Yes, I should be using the range vent more, but what do I do now. Thank you very much!
You have to be careful using a degreaser on wood cabinets because while it will remove the grease, it is possible that it will break down the finish or varnish on the wood - assuming the wood has been sealed. Make sure you read the label before using and that if using it on cabinets you test in an inconpicuous area first. And if you do use it on wood you may have to adjust the dwell time, leaving it on only long enough to remove the grease. You may have better luck with a mild dish doap like Dawn or Fairy.
Greased Lightning is a degreaser and caulking is usually (I'm assuming we're talking showers) is a silicone. So if it's soap scum on the caulking, yes it will work.
@@AskAngelaBrown I am referring to mold in the caulking. I have tried everything that i can think of and what others suggest. Do i need to remove all the caulking and put new in or what?
I have the same question as Phyllis Tisler. I have used a lot of the Greased Lightening and the Oxo brushes...letting it sit and scrubbing. It fades a bit but is still there after several attempts. What I'm working on is the silicone seal around the corners of my shower. Is there a better product for silicone? Thank you!
@@AskAngelaBrown Yes, I think the silicone is stained with the mold. The shower was build 20 years ago and cleaned but not often enough. The silicone probably needs to be removed and re-applied. But it's not getting worse in the meantime because now I'm at least cleaning it frequently like I should :-)
When it comes to "which product is better?", in any situation the answer lies in the surface type and the type of soil you are trying to remove. Greased Lightning is a degreaser (Alkaline) and Vinegar is an acid. Which type of soil are you cleaning?

Thank you Angela, this review saved me thousands of dollars!
I moved into this house the bottom of my shower has extremely fine grid pattern also like window screen. It was discolored and looked filthy. I tried soft scrub with bleach and a stiff brush. No change. I tried bar keepers- no change. CLR- no change. Pure bleach- no change/ bleach and enough water no cover, soak overnight- no change. Zero products used made any change to the bottom of my shower. I figured when we bought the house the prior owner must have scrubbed off the finish and it was the primer showing through (there’s a chip so I know it’s black under the white tub)
Fast forward 18 YEARS!!!!!
I was shocked the contractor walked away from a job but now I’m so thankful he did
Thank you Angela for this review
Omg...that's awesome!! Kudos to you for doing an amazing job and saving money!! 🙌🙌
Thanks!!
Me too!
Nobody ever taught me how to clean a shower before. I have a terrible problem with mold in the grout and even bleach didn't seem to fix it. I'll try this product next, and with what I've learned from you I think I will have good success! Thank you for helping me learn!
You're welcome! Thank you for sharing your story and thank you for watching the video. 😊
Yes i have use grease lightning i love it i removed all the packed on grease on my freinds kitchen cabinet to be painted they can out beautiful.
Thanks so much for commenting on the video. Glad you like the product as much as I do! 👍

I've been using GL for 19 yrs and it is my " go to" . I absolutely love it for laundry stains as well as cleaning .
It's a great product and does wonders in the shower, laundry, patio furniture, kids toys, swimming pools... Thanks for sharing my enthusiasm. :-)
Here's a tip:
To reduce the overall amount of mold and how fast it builds up, after using the shower/tub, leave the shower curtain/door open and leave the light on in the bathroom until the shower dries (hour or so).
@@AskAngelaBrown Our family makes it a habit to wipe down the walls with a designated towel. Keeps the mildew at bay and shines the tile as well!
I use a floor fan after cleaning the shower. Leave the shower door open and the fan blowing facing into the shower until every nook and cranny is completely dry.
I also use the tool for wiping down glass doors and floor of the shower (the same thing that’s used for windows)
This looks wonderful but I'm partially disabled and could never bend over use the brush and s rub like you do because you are young. Thank you

Definitely give it a try. I never thought to try it on laundry. Thanks for the tip!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
I have used it and love it. Very powerful for lots of stuff. My favorite cleaning product when I was cleaning houses.

I've only used the engine degreaser, and it works! I had no idea they made a household cleaner. Thanks for the review and the demo on how you use it
Sure, thanks for watching and taking the time to drop me a line. It's great to have you here.
Have used this product on greasy things like grills and tools, but never would have thought it would work for mold & mildew. A revelation for me - thank you!
Thank you. I have this same tile. Now I feel way more confident this is what I need and it will handle the job.
Glad it was helpful! 🤗🙂
You are my new favorite! My shower is terrible and I didn’t know how to tackle it. Thanks for the “work smarter not harder” information.
Thanks so much for watching the video and keep me posted on how the shower turns out. 👍
Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching the video.🙂
I've used Greased Lightning in the past to get automotive grease off my husband's clothes. It works well! 👍🏻
Oh nice! I'm going to try it out on clothes!! Thanks for sharing this tip!
I have never used Greased Lightning, but will definitely try it since watching this video. Thanks Angela!!

My mom kept this in our house, initially as a pre-wash degreaser for my dad’s work pants, then we started using us for ALL kinds of stuff. When I left home I used in my homes and vehicles. It just works! It definitely demands we respect it. Ventilation is very important.
Glad it works for you!👍
I have had this under my cabinet, bought for the car. I'm heading into the shower now to give it a try! Thanks for the review.

Thanks. Hopefully we are all a little safer. :-)
It is a shockingly effective APC, almost as strong as Super Clean, but also will sanitize/disinfect/deodorize/mold-inhibit/etc
Hose down your shower (when it's dry) with Spray Nine, let it dwell 3 minutes, and then brush.
None of these scrubbing bubble type bathroom cleaning products do
ANYTHING so what a waste.
Thanks for the tips! I hadn't thought to use it for jewelry or diamonds. Nice to know. 👍

They are 15, 12 and 7💗
Oh no, I wonder what is being left on the banister? Also, is the wood sealed? 👍
I used it on laundry grease spots. A soccer uniform. Had to let it sit for a bit. Applied twice. Let it sit longer the second time. Then laundered it. Saved the uniform. I put it thru two rinses.
That’s great! Thanks for sharing : )
Glenda Menger it should work
Vinegar actually kills mold! Bleach just kills the surface and, in effect, prunes back and strengthens it.
@@glendamenger5730 Baking soda and lemon juice cts thru it! Apply, let sit for a few minutes...boom.
Peroxide will also kill mold.

Hahaha! Great to hear that! Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome feedback😊

That's mold. Very common. Treat it naturally or with recommended chemicals, then paint over it.
Here’s what I found on the internet: www.thespruce.com/how-to-remove-mold-from-bathroom-ceilings-5207453
If you cannot find Greased Lightning, you can use Mean Green instead. Both do the job great.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Great informative video. Have it on order on Amazon. I have been using "wet and forget" which is great for spraying on my shower tiles after I get out of the shower, leaving on overnight but sometimes it takes 2 applications.

Does grease Lightening get off soap scum and mineral deposits, too?
I use 50/50 of dawn dish soap and white vinegar in a spray bottle for soap scum spray the whole shower and tub down let it sit for a couple of hours wipe down with wet wash rag make sure you ventilate it's kind of strong.

Since your talking about cleaning products that have a higher toxicity rate, I do have a question about storage for us home cleaners..... primarily because of where I live and that I store most of my cleaning items in my truck.
Specifically for Greased Lightning, here is a link to the sds: www.physics.purdue.edu/primelab/safety/MSDS/SDS/Greased%20Lightning%20Super%20Strength%20Cleaner.pdf
Section 7 has the storage recommendations, keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.

Good point about rinsing the bottle before recycling it

What product or products works the best for showers with black mold and mildew? I haven't found anything yet that removes those things.

Thank you Angela browning needed to learn how to clean my tiles .
You’re welcome, I'm happy to help! Thanks for watching! 😊
@@AskAngelaBrown You welcome.
@@sharonmckendrick4431 Thanks for those websites, Going to check them out. I am 64 and need to pare down and learn to appreciate cleaning!
Thanks Angela. ICan’t find your message about our mold on our soapdish, but I want you to know that we appreciate your reply. We will check into it
You're welcome! And thank you for taking the time to write this comment, I appreciate it! 🤗
I have used this off and on for years. We are from Georgia and I remember when it came to stores. Thanks for your reviews.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!🙂👍
Greased lightning is my go to cleaner!!! I buy it by the industrial 5 gal jug!
Oh wow...it's great! Thanks for sharing your product feedback.
Just found your channel and I think it's great. Thank you! Question for you on the Greased Lightening, does it work on soap scum too???
Yes, it is a degreaser and cuts right through it.
Thanks for suggesting this product for me to check out.
I'm impressed. Thanks for sharing Angela.
Yay! I am so glad you liked the show. 👍
Can someone who has not had multiple back surgeries come to my house and do this? I am already unable to stand up straight just watching.
Oh no! I am so sorry about your back. When a house cleaner comes to do a walkthrough, show them the bathroom so they can give an accurate estimate.
Oh wow! Thanks for the sharing the tip!
Definitely adding this to my arsenal at work
Thant's great, thanks for watching!
Since it is long lasting and reactive to aquatic life, I hope people who use it to clean their cars are careful about the run off? When that water runs into the storm drains, where does it go? Yikes!
It's a spray, so looks like it's used to spray and wipe cars, no rinsing needed.
All videos very Nice. Thank you Angela.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to drop me a line. It's great to have you here. 👍
I love Greased Lightning... And every time I use it, I 🎶 Go Greased Lightning burning up the quarter mile🎵🎵🎵. And I'm done in no time 👍😛

That’s my question, too. How do these compare?
I just ran across you channel. You have alot of great information. Will the Greased Lighting work on the caulking?
Greased Lightning is a degreaser and caulking is usually (I'm assuming we're talking showers) is a silicone. So if it's soap scum on the caulking, yes it will work.
@@AskAngelaBrown I am referring to mold in the caulking. I have tried everything that i can think of and what others suggest. Do i need to remove all the caulking and put new in or what?
Wow you have a wealth of cleaning knowledge ! Just subscribed, thank you ! 👍🏻
Thanks for subbing! And thank you for taking the time to write this comment, I appreciate it! 🤗
Thank you so much for this video. Is this the same cleaner used in the video bathroom maintenance? Thanks again.
no, she used comet
Here is the video where I use Comet: ua-cam.com/video/ZX-dnNtIvwU/v-deo.html
I have the same question as Phyllis Tisler. I have used a lot of the Greased Lightening and the Oxo brushes...letting it sit and scrubbing. It fades a bit but is still there after several attempts. What I'm working on is the silicone seal around the corners of my shower. Is there a better product for silicone? Thank you!
Is the silicone just dirty? Is it infected with mold? Is it aged and cracking or peeling?
@@AskAngelaBrown Yes, I think the silicone is stained with the mold. The shower was build 20 years ago and cleaned but not often enough. The silicone probably needs to be removed and re-applied. But it's not getting worse in the meantime because now I'm at least cleaning it frequently like I should :-)
For cleaning a shower would you say this product is better than the dawn vinegar baking soda concoction?
When it comes to "which product is better?", in any situation the answer lies in the surface type and the type of soil you are trying to remove. Greased Lightning is a degreaser (Alkaline) and Vinegar is an acid. Which type of soil are you cleaning?
Cleaning a tile shower both floor and wall. Thanks for answering!
Thank you for showing how to clean it.
You’re welcome, thanks for watching! 😊
