    Just so you know you can clip that branch and plant it and it'll grow roots and take off. They grow great off of cuttings and will give you fruit the same year.

    I am a third generation Pakistani American, i have had a privilege to visit in Mulberry orchard in Pakistan, they also had yellowish green kind with intoxicating aroma and they were sweeter than Honey. Without exaggeration, i have never tasted anything more flavorful than this fruit.

    Just chop the branch and stick it in the ground... it will establish on its own

    Did you get the airlayer to root? Im doing 2 cuttings right now on my Pakistani mulberry. It is a Prolific grower and the other mulberry cuttings I did grew easily without any care so I'm hoping the Pakistani does the same. I bought mine from eBay and it was 3" tall and by end of summer it grew to 3'. My goal is to propogate 100 of them and grow them at my farm in Dallas. Just started this experiment so hoping it works. Let me know if yours worked

    We call it "Shahtoot" in Urdu. One of my favorite fruits. As the tree grows taller, it bears more fruit than one could pick in a day. 😛

      i am glad its gaining some popularity now. what an amazing fruit. you were lucky to have it in your homeland. just tried it today. something very special about its flavor, sweet like honey, not tart like blackberries, which i love, very satisfying. i would say this is a romantic fruit, engendering love and happiness.

    This is an awesome video! I'm so excited! I picked up a Pakistan mulberry on ebay, but I'm keeping it in the container until it goes dormant in the Fall. Just too hot right now. I would love to see another video about propagation for this tree. Please update if you have any success with air layering or cuttings!

      I may try the green wood, the hard wood has been very stubborn to root.

      I am from Pakistan (Abbottabad). I have planted a few branches some three year back. Most of them were failed. However one is success. Now (23-Mar-18) I have a lot of unripe berries on the tree of about 18 feet height. I gave sunlight to the tiny plant by mirror reflection in the first year. Also kept it guarded from frosting by a shed of straws. May send you pics taken today, if requested (gzawan@gmail.com).

    • @gzawan
      @gzawan 6 років тому

      In the ground. It was the last days of Jan-15 when I did it. Now there is a lot of fruit on it. I am excited to send you the pictures!

    What's the root system like? Can you grow this next to your house? Will it ruin the foundation?

  • @firecloud77
    @firecloud77 Рік тому

    Your Burnt Ridge Pakistan Mulberry tree is grafted onto rootstock. So, even if you were successful airlayering it, or cloning it, I assume the clone would not be as vigorous as the parent tree.

    Great video and greetings from Australia. I got the version that has white long fruit called the King White Pakistan Mulbery. It dropped its fruit last year as it was still a small tree. Im looking forward to tasting some this October now that it better established.

    Hello! Brother, what is the difference between Big Black Shatoot and Big White Shatoot? I want the black variety, but often the market sells the white variety by falsely labeling it. Can you please tell me how to differentiate between the two?

    Fyi they root easy from cutting. Make sure it's the diameter of a pencil or larger. Start early spring, cut and stick right in the soil. No rooting hormone or anything. I've taken 2 from mine and both took. Strip all foliage from cuttings also.

    One might try soft wood cuttings. simply cut six shoots about 8 inches long remove all but 2 leaves and stand in water until roots develop. I've not tried it with this tree but it's worth a try.
