  • A lot has happened in Germany's recent history. From a collection of independent states, German became a unified country in 1871, was divided by the Allied Powers in the aftermath of WWII, and then finally, after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Germany became the country that it is today.

Actually there will be no Korean unification, as it is neither in the interest of Crazy Kim, nor of South Korea.
In the early 2000s South Korea sent a delegation to Germany to consult about best practices and learn from their experiences how to best handle such a unification. After they heard about the costs and how long it would take, they came to the conclusion, that a unification was financially impossible for Korea. (the situation W-/E-Germany was economically far, far more favorable than the situation in S-/N-Korea is).

It might be time for you to start reading some literature then. There are a lot of small errors in this video which are probably made because of oversimplification. Also there is a clear tone against early Germany as well as 'western enemies'. An example would be his argumentation on the unification between Austria and Germany with the Treaty of Versailles in mind. Even though this treaty has been commonly acknowledged as a mistake.
I'd advise you to read about that subject in A History of Western Society by McKay. That book has a clear preference for western European and American ideologies, like this video. And it does still acknowledge a lot of things that should've been, but weren't by this video.

East Germany was kind of crazy as a country, but North Korea is a whole different league of insanity. And it existed now for almost twice as long as East Germany did. The situations are not very similar and if Korea were to be unified the transition would be much rougher and easily take half a century or more before things get to normal.

Of course, I wasn't around to see any of this, but I remember seeing the picture of Berlin at 14:14 (the streetlights, where on the Western side they're more cost- and energy-efficient) almost ten years ago, when I was maybe eight or nine. I couldn't believe the difference and my parents had to explain the entire Cold War/USSR/division of Germany. That was the first time I remember openly crying because I thought the world was a horrible place (then the teenage years happened...) and I specifically remember asking "Why do the same people hate each other so much?" That brought on the racism discussion...

@12:08, that's one of my earliest memories! I came into the lounge room talking while Dad was watching the news and, as usual, the little lad yacking while the news was on got a hushing. But that night, the way he hushed me was different. Even as just a wee boy I somehow knew that something important must have been going on. I turned to see the television set and there were all these people gathered at a very dirty wall. I didn't know why. But I knew that for that many people to turn up, there must have been something special happening.

Liechtenstein is a tiny territory of half a dozen villiages and one town.
More important : Germany isnt "reunited" since 1990.
At least not from the classic point of view what is Germany which included Austria, South Tyrol and Luxemburg.
There is a united Kleindeutschland (Core Germany - of the 4 occupation areas of WW2 allies) but n o t a reunited Nation!
To believe in reunification , there was and still is a constant brainwash after World War 2 by the media and political parties.

How so? It's almost imposible at this point. We know that East Germany was much poorer than West Germany, but they still were germans, and germans are smart people. So the differences were there, but the communists germans at least had some sort of a productive economy, and that lasted roughly 30 years.
But korean problem is so much worse. South Korea is a globalist first world country with one of the best economies in the world while North Korea is the most oppresive dictatorship of the modern world. They're not even industrialize at an acceptable level, and most of the population don't even know or can't use some of the western world commodities like smartphones, internet, etc. Not only that, but they were separated for more than one generation (30 y.), almost two. And while the South is in 2019, the North is still in the 1960's.
I think South Koreans don't like the idea of a reunification because it would be catastrophic to their economy. Imagine that, from one day to another you have more than ten million refugees in your country. That's the situation were NK reunites with SK.

7:50 "Germany loses some of their territory"
SOME of their territory? Germany lost more territory after WW2 than they did after WW1. Besides, these territories were populated mostly by Germans (unlike those that had been lost after the Treaty of Versailles, which were inhabited mostly by minorities, especially Poles) and they had been politically and demographically German for centuries; they hadn't just been conquered during Hitler's rule. To deal with this situation, the Allies simply decided to massively expel several million Germans that had been living there for generations and repopulate these territories with Poles (since these areas were mostly given to Poland, with the exception of the Kaliningrad Oblast, which was given to Russia) expelled from former eastern Polish territories annexed by the USSR. So these areas really served as a compensation to Poland for all the Polish regions that the USSR had decided to annex for themselves.
This resulted in one of the largest population transfers in modern history.

İ think 2nd Reich had a better military than 3rd Reich compare their time.İn 1914 Germany had no competent rivals in quality and quantity of the heavy artillery and machine guns and they had huge stockpiles of artillery rounds for the war and world’s second largest naval force but in 1939 even French Army had more artillery pieces and tanks than Wehrmacht and they lacking on stockpiles of rounds.

I'm from Italy but despite rivalry I have to admit Germans always been one of the greatest countries ever existed! You lost not one but two World Wars, you've been divided since less than 30 years ago and still today you're the most successful country in Europe and one of the top economies in the world. That's just impressive, a mentality that my country should just learn and apply but unfortunately it doesn't happen.
Greetings and respect to Deutschland from an Italian guy.

Dat History lad Our future will be much brighter than yours, because we are accepting the reality of Globalization and go with it instead of trying to roll back the world and the ideological landscape to 1900. Ethnic Germans are far from being a minority, even less so with Cultural Germans.
Many Immigrants embrace German Culture and Society, and proudly call themselves Germans, rightfully so. Just because they have a different Skin Color or Religion doesn't mean that they cant be german.
In 50 years we will have profited from this, and a the nations trying to fight globalization will hurtfully see that these efforts are not only futile, but also unethical. Not to say "Racist".
