I bought a Desmo off of Div at Motorcycle stuff early last year. Great helmet. A great guy to do business with. I agree with most of the comments on here and in the vid. They are slightly heavier but the functionality outweighs the imposition. The fighter jet helmet look appeals to me but not to some. The ratchet chin strap is awesome. So much better than that old double D-ring rubbish. The ability to cruise around town with an open face, especially in the warmer months, and to be able to simply switch to a full face with one hand instantly when you hit the freeway or the twisties is awesome. The ventilation on this helmet is good. I’m a heat pump, so I needed a helmet that had good ventilation and the Desmo fits the bill. It also has good airflow inside the visor to stop any fogging issues as well. The only thing I do find is that it does suffer from slightly increased wind noise due to the increased number of protrusions, cracks and gaps that air can whistle over at speed. It’s not a deal breaker. It’s absolutely fine around town and when i’m doing long sessions on freeways or twisties I tend to wear ear plugs anyway since my exhaust is not meek or mild but just something to be wary of. But I thoroughly recommend the Desmo.
They look absolutely massive when you wear them. I tried on a small, fitted well but it made my head look huge. Comical looking things. Wouldn’t dream of buying one.
Well, I actually was looking for the tinted visor for the Desmo, saw the video and I liked what I saw. Oh yeah, for those 1st timers with the helmets, the chin bar weighs something and I can guarantee that you can feel the weight at the back of your head when you flip it back. The Desmo is good because you can indeed use one hand to open the chin bar. I do that when I exit the highway back to main roads.
I've really liked the look of these helmets for years, in fact they are the only modular helmets I have ever liked. Thing that sucks is after researching for quite some time I missed a very important fact until I was almost at checkout- I live in the states. These don't carry a certification that allows us to legally wear them while riding. Pity I was gonna buy one for myself and one for the wife.
Yeah I saw these on the website and I wasn’t taken by them. But you raise some good points. I have wanted a modular helmet...so maybe...I’d go with the newer version too. Thanks mate
I've been using the V8 for 5 years or so. I believe it's been updated to handle wet weather riding a bit better with the visor lining. Also the latches on the side are now single action as apposed to a push and pull movement. The problem is, i think the newer V8's aren't being imported to Oz. I could be completely wrong because it's been a while since I've looked. Nice review my guy! 🙂
Just bought the V8. Really comfortable to wear, but still has enough firmness to keep your noggin safe. Much lighter than my HJI. The only thing I do not like, is the lack of chin curtain, and the chin strap should be set back a bit farther on the shell, or at a more sharper angle.
They look like great value. Might be getting one for my wife soon. Always a fan of a modular helmet. I used to have a Nolan and absolutely loved it. I find that the modular helmets are always slightly heavier than your typical full face helmet.
Never had much of an interest in modular helmets as they are always kinda ugly. These ones aren’t so bad though. I’m a fan of the fighter pilot look as I’m a big top gun fan

The old version looks more dope
One of my favorites of all I've had through the years, my friend gave me one years ago.

Good to know mate. I hope it loves up to your needs Andrew. All the best mate
@@ThrottleDownunder I think it is going to do the job nicely! :)
Hi, is there a difference in size between the two or are the shells the same?
I Love my Desmo.
Great comprehensive review mate.
Thanks Chewie
Nicely done Robbo, they definately have the fighter jet look to them 😁👍🏼
Thanks G 🤙🤙
Więc który byś wybrał?
Some great info there Rob. Love my modular helmet and this will give me something to consider when it time for the new one.
What one have you got? I'd like to consider getting one too
@@ThrottleDownunder I’ve got the HJC RPHA 90S, which I love. It’s got the piece for the Senna (I think) to slot straight into the back of the helmet.
@@TropicalRiderOz ah very nice
Anyone know the physical address for the Roof manufacturing plant in Vietnam? Customs won’t release my goods until I provide that.
Did you have it shipped to the US by chance? I’ve been contemplating getting one but don’t know the hassle of getting it through customs.
What about the lining. Is it removable for washing?
yes, the headliner and cheeks can be removed, replaced, or washed, and there are different sizes you can fit inside the helmet, for a perfect fit.

New top gun movie coming this year Easy 🤙🤙
@@ThrottleDownunder I know! I hope they do it well and it doesn't tarnish to original
@@EasyDoesitmoto agreed mate

Exactly. Why is it the “worst ever”?
