Broken Tooth However, you know the Daredevil version did not use one single take. It instead used "clever" pans to black in order to give the illusion that it was a single take. That's the thing both Oldboys did so well; both of their scenes had a huge, continuous action scene that was simple enough that you could see there were no cuts during the action. Now, Daredevil Season 2 sort of learned from the first season and it is much more smooth instead of the obvious pans to black.
This is why I love this scene. It makes me truly believe that this 1 guy can take down all the people in that place because I saw it with my own eyes the way it was done.
During the scene where Matt tortures the Russian for information, Claire is dressed in white and covered in light, making her look like an angel/Good Samaritan, whereas Matt is dressed in black and covered in shadow, making him the devil. But when Claire tells Matt to stab the Russian in the trigeminal nerve, she steps into the shadows, reflecting how she's being influenced by the devil, and entering the world of cruelty. Just one example of the show's subtlety, which is one of the many, many reasons why it's the best live-action superhero show ever made.
15:46 the spinning kick is quite...weird, but it makes sense. He flips to get momentum on his foot, shifts as much of his weight as he can onto that impact point, and then hits the guy in what seems like his middle back. A hit like that in that spot would wind someone no doubt, which seemed to be the only effect considering it wasn't an instant KO move or something.
I absolutely love in the hallway fight how you can tell how exhausted everyone is getting down to how the kicks and punches are getting sloppy. Doug and Rob Walker explained there are moments where both parties are down and neither one wants to be the first one to get back up because they want to get that extra second of breath if they can It's so bloody real
I just wish some of the MCU heroes would do some down-to-earth, street level stuff. I love what the MCU has done, but every now and then, you gotta stay on the ground, and look out for the little guys. Which is why I think a Spider-Man/Daredevil crossover would be perfect! (with this version of the character, because Charlie Cox is perfect.)
Currently watching all the reactions in order of timeline to get ready to watch the next few seasons I've missed as both a way of entertainment from Blind Wave, and a fast recap. My favorite thing about the fight scene at the end is, whether it was or wasn't, the way the camera moved and zoomed allowed for it to be able to be cut here and there if needed. Also, loved that they didn't pan into the room since it was a very smart way of being able to switch between stunt double and actor very easily. It was very beautiful, well choreographed, and had so much practicality. I'm still in awe with that scene with my second time seeing it.
Just started a long overdue rewatch of Daredevil. Had to align it with some BW reactions. Can’t get over how young Calvin and Aaron look just 6 years ago!! And so begins the magical era of the amazing one-shot. LMAO- Aaron with the needles. 💉
Well you gotta think of all the possibilities that could've happen if he did that. I just think he put the kid's safety first and by doing so he needed to make sure all the bad guys were down, take him out safely with no problem of anybody getting in the way
1. At that point, matt was probably mighty pissed at the russians. 2. Those motherfuckers would notice that the kid was missing and would search everywhere probably hurting more people in the process. (Or grab another kid) 3. Admit it, you liked that scene :)
Why was this even a discussion? There were open doors. One glance at the wrong moment and Matt would have to fight at extreme disadvantage, protecting the kid.
Something i like is how daredevil when he punches they just get back up like they would in real life but in other super hero movies or the MCU when the hero punches they just fall down dead
They just made it look like oneshot really well. Anytime there's no people in the shot (13:56, 14:23, 14:56, 15:34, 16:08 ) is a cut. wondering if the episodes name (Cut man) is pun.
Fight scene actually looks like 2 or 3 shots, but edited to look like one. At one point the screen went black, that's a cut. A shot of an empty room with no people, that's maybe a cut. And camera was hung from the ceiling.
Then they pretended to use a camera trick. Why zoom so close to a door, making it look all black if you're not going to cut? Unless they wanted to troll me...
Yeah but Vladimir was badass. I hated them at first but the show has a way of humanizing the bad guys. They're bad guys but Vladimir and Anatoly had redeeming qualities. The show has Yakuzas, Triads, Irish gangs and Fisk and the biker gangs are American. Also historically accurate. In the 1980s and 90s NY was home to the Russian mafia specifically Brighton Beach.
@@stalk8r I know this is 5 years ago but it’s hilarious how you comment has a outlet ZERO real likes. Imagine actually having to buy likes on a UA-cam comment. Sad.

I'm going to get a lot of hate for saying this but whatever, when I first seen the corridor scene I felt it was weak, don't get me wrong the one shot take is incredible, I have never seen anything that impressive done with cameras other than Game of thrones season 7 episode 4 ''The Spoils of War'' with Bronn. Anyway I understand that Daredevil was injured but I feel like the show runners could have made him a bit stronger to fully show how stunning Daredevil can really be, I also feel like Charlie Cox could have done better with that one hit where he jumped off the wall and did a small spin and punched the Russian behind him because it looked like he slipped and screwed him up a little bit. Also please don't say ''Oh your not a true fan blah blah blah'' because I really am, the rain fight in episode 1 ''Into The Ring'' was amazing, the choreography was spectacular and I look forward to more fight scenes just like that one.
The point is hes exhausted and fatigued and injured. Hes not gonna be doing flips and kung fu shit becauee this show is realistic and someone in that shape wouldn't be doing amazing choreography. And it's amazing that an action scene portrays fatigue and guys not going down in one hit.
What I like about the hallway scene is that the guys keep getting back up, Daredevil is good about that. It isn't like he just one-shots them all.
That single, long tracking shot of the final fight... that's like Emmy Award worthy shit.
Ever seen Oldboy (or the remake)?
daredevil did it better imo..cause you feel every hit in it....and uses multiple axis rather than just panning from left to right...
Broken Tooth However, you know the Daredevil version did not use one single take. It instead used "clever" pans to black in order to give the illusion that it was a single take. and he looks like crap doing it. you can nearly feel the pain and exhaustion he has which grounds the whole thing more in reality.
I had forgotten what Calvin's chin looked like.
prefer the beard
I don't think I've ever seen Calvin without his Taliban beard.

Thanks Shane, I didn't know what Cut Man meant, so I guess Claire is the Cut Man then, huh, nice.
For this episode, young Matt was his dad's cut man. But Claire would be the cut man for the show in general, it's true.
Matt's real superpower is the ability to disarm a crook and throw that same weapon in their face.
