I like how seamless the transition from Asa to Yoru is now, it feels more like a split personality rather than a different person, which shows that they are much more in tune with each other.
It’s like Yoru is becoming a part of her but that can’t be a path for her character unless Asa will be a full on horsemen like Nayuta and Fami not being the war fiend anymore.

And their apartment house is clearly not in the best of shape.
Also, Denji got a reality check when confronting his identity as Chainsaw Man and the consequences of that by losing Nayuta.
So its safe to say he will no longer be trying to reveal his identity and act a fool, especially since not only was he under threat of Public Safety but now Chainsaw Man is largely hated.

I care a lot about Denji, and I also care a lot about Asa. Denji had just woken up and he only cares about Nayuta right now. Denji is broken, he has nothing, he doesn’t even want to be chainsaw man anymore. I want to see my hero aimlessly rummage through rubble of the only thing he had, while only thinking about the only person he has. Denji already defeated one of the strongest Devils (Makima). Why do you want Part 2 to be the same? He’s living in a post Part 1 world, dealing with how the world treats him and chainsaw man. Just appreciate these chapters for what they are. Denji figuring himself out alone

I agree wholeheartedly. Part one was great, loved everything that was happening - but the pacing was a bit too fast in certain areas for my personal tastes - really vibing with part 2 rn and the slower pace

I'll be honest, even though this chapter also nothing to advance the plot, per say, I find adorable that the first thing Denji ask when back to life is where is Nayuta. SHe is his family and he just wants her to be safe... also him pointing out Asa is weird for at one moment breaking his nuts and then caring for him (also love everyone else just following behind, even my man Katana Man).
Also, I'm gonna state a small worry here that Nayuta isn't dead, BUT Public Safety is trying to make her a new Makima. One they have better control ever and aid them and recovering control over over others. And I feel Yoshida will play a big part in either getting Nayuta out and joining team Denji or still believing PS are doing the greater good, and to this I only have to say: Kishibe, where are you! We NEED you at this point!

I do feel bad for the Control Devil here. If Nayuta really is dead, then magine getting reincarnated like, twice in the span of a year. That being said, I really like how Dennis and Asa's relationship has really started to take off, as she appears to actually sympathize with him. Excited to see where it's heading.

I definitely agree with you here. This is kinda hard to explain, but I also I feel like Chainsaw Man lost the "threatning" moments that it had in part 1. In almost all of the arcs in part 1 (especially after the katana man arc) you would feel like there would be so many things at stake (including the death of so many characters). Now I almost feel like things are happening for the sake of happening, like : "Since the creation of the devil detention center, no one has over broken in; it would take a war to compromise this facility's safety" (something like that), and then they just break in with 0 consequences to them or the story :(
PS: Just started watching tower of god because you recommended it in one of your streams and I am loving it
Well they weren't rlly wrong about that devil detention center tho quanxi would have clapped all of them in a second but there weren't any other devil hunters except that one guy with eye patch so I think there's a reason why it was like that which makes sense too like the world is in chaos don't forget that ppl are still turning into CSM so most of the hunters are busy in that ig

I think this chapter, while not much plot moving happening during it. For me, it gave some great moments pf Denji getting to process what actually happend after he chose his identity of Chainsaw Man over Nayuta.
He made a huge and character defining decision during those chapters and of course he would not fight immediatly after finally being freed and being able to search for Nayuta.
The trajectory we will be heading in will be based on the consequences of Denjis decision and the Prison break arc was just a stepping stone arc for that.
And the reason the prison was hyped up in the first place was it being a place where Fujimoto can show the development of Asa after reintroducing her after the events of the Falling Devil and Chainsaw Man chruch arcs.
Yorus new power-up needed to be introduced in an organic way and Famis abilites aswell.
Katana Man is getting a lot more development
This character focus is what Part 2 is slowing down its pace for, not making the big plot of the Nostradamus phrophecy the main focus for an arc focused on the character moments in the Chainsaw Man church arc.
Yeah i can understand the complaint. Although, i personally really enjoy the fact that we don't know where we're going. It makes me extremely involved in the experience since it usually surprises me and the fact that it takes its time... Is a really good idea for the incoming completed experience imo (but it's more a matter of faith than anything).
I also appreciate these little side quests, it adds substance but the weekly/biweekly-triweekly formula makes it tougher to digest. Any of you shouldn't hesitate to take a break if you feel burnt out, confused or tired. You're supposed to have a good time 👌🏾

Fami is definitely one of my favorite characters so far. When Asa asked her to say something to get Denji out of his negative mood her response was: "Maybe he's hungry." A response I expected from her and yet it was funny to see. Denji is definitely being dragged along and it does feel like the main stuff is being sidelined for other side quests. I can understand the frustration.
Idk this was one of my fav chapter, denji expressing how he's had enough with being csm and how he has lost everything, asa showing slight care for denji, katana being chad as usual, fami being fami this chapter was great character based chapter i would say

Yo dj miles, u realize character development is something in a story right…? I understand being upset w the release schedule, for that I suggest you take a break. But to claim this chapter was a “nothing burger?” That’s insane. You can’t be upset that the story is slowing down to build tension, and to make us wonder what’s next. Part 1 was the same exact way chapter to chapter, it’s just that less people read it that way. I’m sure you binged it as well
Part 2 does have more character development than part 1, but the feeling of uncertainty is always there. Not knowing what’s next, feeling lost. Fujimoto really knows how to play w expectations, it’s a strong suit of his
i seen ppl complaining about filler on the shonen jump comments today but it felt like a good segway chapter to me. but also seeing denji wake up and instantly be like NAYUTA is huge character development, we got our funny moments but theres a looming sadness lurking behind the memes. seeing denji start to pick up rubble to either look for nayuto or the dogs to "prove" if their dead or not.. ouch.
these past few chapters have given me peak chainsaw man humor im here for the silly short chapters

I get that frustration with the slow burn but personally I don’t mind getting a bit of time to see character development especially with Asta and Denji as they haven’t really interacted in the story much despite being the two main characters.
I think it’s the bi weekly to weekly schedule that really makes it feel frustrating keeping up with it week to week and these chapters will likely be much better on re-read

Personally I gotta disagree, now don’t get me wrong I can get why people have been disappointed with the recent state of the manga but, for me I’ve been loving the slow paced less action packed chainsaw man. Honestly I think it’s best that if you don’t like how it is right now then wait until a good amount of chapters come out and then binge it, cause yeah the schedule has taken a toll on the Story and how people feel the pacing. In other words after this long ass rant, Let Fujimoto Cook.
The week to week grind is especially tough and personally I think its toll has waned on me to blow up on this chapter. In Fujimoto, we trust.
Yeah this is definitely a kind of story that your going to dislike as it's being released but love on a reread when everything's there. The story is good, but having to wait a week or 2 for a chapter like 167... (peak csm lol, but actually does have importance somehow?) Same problem people have with the webtoon tower of god, arcs last forever so while it's getting released it's a nightmare but it's peak when it's all there

My biggest hope is that Meowy isn’t dead. We didn’t see her for the entire part (at least I don’t remember seeing her). So to then suddenly say ”remember the cat we didn’t show? Yeah she still exists and now she’s dead“ is kinda awkward. I’m waiting for Kishibe to come out of the shadows holding Meowy up and comforting Denji or something like that.

I think it might be a difference in expectations, but I liked this chapter and where it's going. Because as far as I'm concerned, I expect the Nostradamus prophecy to be entirely in Act 3, and Act 2 is gonna end with Asa turning Denji into a weapon. So the focus on Asa and Denji's relationship *is* the most crucial thing to focus on - it's the lead up to Denji's death.
I agree with you Miles about not knowing where the fuck the story is going, and I don’t say it a subversive way, I mean like, there is absolutely no substance to hold onto and every time something interesting happens it’s cut short with no answer, the plot shifts to something completely unrelated, or we are given a very unsatisfying answer to the issue. It feels like there is so much Fujimoto wants to say but he ultimately doesn’t say anything. I have not been enjoying the story the past couple of months.

My current theory about Kishibe he’s dead and was dying towards the end of part 1. That’s why he gave Nayuta to Denji and it’s part of the reason why Quanxi is in PS and why she looks so depressed (Everyone she knows is dead but it’s probably mostly the dead girlfiends)
Getting into more speculative territory, his dying wish was for Quanxi to stay in PS and protect Denji/Chainsaw Man or at least be the person who’s on Denji’s side in PS.
In part one it’s very much hinted that Kishibe is getting too old for this shit and is starting to slow down and doesn’t have a lot to offer in terms of his Devil contracts. What we saw wasn’t peak Kishibe but rather an old man past his prime who can still kick all the youngsters asses. He’s powerful but he’s only human and time will eventually wear him down.
If kishibe is alive, he’s most likely getting killed off to raise the stakes. His character is in the perfect position to fit that role. So Fujimoto may just say he died to cut out the narrative middle man and have that role go to someone else.
Or he may bring him back just to kill him off. That would be funny.
I kinda like this way of writing and it will be cool if denji meet reze in sushi restaurant or something like that

Chainsaw Man, for me, has generally been about these random little comedic excursions with huge stakes and insane action peppered in. This is par for the course with what I’d expect from Fujimoto at this point. Part 1 is still looking superior by comparison, but I’m very much along for the ride in Part 2. 👌

The amount of countless death in csm is so insane, and how people live like its normal multiplies it more. The Nostradamus itself is already a world ending event for them, and only the Public Safety organization takes it seriously. Is there something I missed for how people just seem to "not care"?, doesnt even makes sense since when people got killed by the Gun Devil, the remaining family members decides to become a devil hunter out of spite or sense of revenge for it. Is there something I missed for humans just being casual in this universe??

My assumption, killing off the death devil, , him being with Asa or Reze, reuniting with his little figure Nayuta, and potentially encountering the blood devil to be his buddy again. Thats how I see it….
Edit: I know I’m coping but if i remember right about some devils have their memories from previous lives as beams remembers the chainsaw man, then the gun devil that was the gun fiend (Aki) could try to be friends with Denji as well despite the gun devil not being a follower but could have some of Aki’s memories

I also feel cheated, by this chapter. The only thing out chapter of revelance is that Asa truly feels for Denji. She feels his pain. And sushi stunt really missed the mark. Could the corpse of the chainsaw person be foreshadowing? Could a devil be manipulating perception?

I think it’s because you’re reading it on a weekly basis rather than reading through an already finished part.
Fujimoto is taking time to build his characters and it won’t feel slow when it’s all done.

I as well feel that the recent chapters are lack lusterd all this build up just for nothing I was excited for the prison break ark because I thought it would be the same as the assassination ark and I really thought that we night see pichita pop out from how he was talking with denji I really thought that by the time fami team arrived they'd see pochita there or something similar but no all we got is two chapters of yapping and barely any interesting aspects and I really really really hate how denji is being portrayed I feel Iike every little the development he has the author takes it away from his interaction with fumiko especially after the bait of him not falling for it and now him ignoring nayota for food 🫤👍 ik his kinda lost and shit but for someone who first hand experienced the bad that comes from being manipulated or losing the closest ppl to you you'd think you'll see denji acting differently when he faces the same situations again and tbh where tf is Yoshida what's even his role at this part i feel like his a troll or some shit like this

Mostly, I think Denji went from loving to battle without any reason to fight with the objective of protecting Nayuta. But since he can't find her, he thinks that he doesn't need to fight anymore for nothing. Denji goes down into depression
I have a feeling that a while after part 1 of Chainsaw Man gets completely adapted to the anime, it’s just gonna fall off in general. The plot of part 1 is superior to the plot of part 2 imo.

I’d still like to see part 2 adapted because it’s gonna give me nostalgia. I waited every 1-2 weeks for a new chapter and seeing them animated is gonna be satisfying.
Nostradamus profecy is the sidequest. The main quest is Asa and Denji conecting over the loss of a family member.
This is not structured as a tipical anime/manga were cool shit happens just cause but rather a series that is created by a weird person that tries to welcome you into their pov.
Some people will get it and some will not.

I completely agree with you DJ miles. Everyone says to trust in Fujimoto and his writing style but CSM part 2 has been too frustrating for too long! I’m very confused about the direction of the story right now. It just kinda feels all over the place. It’s tough man, I feel you.
I think it will all be clear when its all said and done but for now this hurts.
For the longest time, I’ve felt like Fujimoto meant to finish Chainsaw Man with part 1 and now Jump has a gun to his head forcing him to pump out more content, whatever it takes, just keep writing

Hey, im from your live stream earlier, first up i want to apologise for my admonishing responses or them even coming across as importunate. I just reread the last chapters to fresh up my memory and now try talk about this from a more detached perspective. Me, not taking into account your perspective too. From a general standpoint, you definitely reasoned a valid concern, partly the prison break arc, the unanswered questions piling up with each chapter and it getting frustrating, recurring motives of the characters and plot that seems lost in the sauce and the side quests kind of approach of the story. Thought i have different reasonings, i still failed to respect your take the first time and wanted to correct this mistake with this comment. I hope i didn‘t upset you to much and at the end of the day, just like you already pointed out in the stream it’s still just a manga made for our own enjoyment. Wish you the best, looking forward to your next reviews for csm chapters anyway, because where would this world be if everything was intended perfect no? 😅

Honestly we are just given the appetizer. I felt the build up will be slow because as soon as the craziness starts up again. It won't slow down, a lot of deaths with chaos in full swing. I am glad the author took things a little slow. If he delivers on wow what's going on? I felt these two weeks worth of waiting will be worth it. Not only that, I also felt this upcoming fight will cause panic triggering the Death Devil's arrival to a degree. They could go from everyone versus Denji to working together against a much worst threat.
This arc could be just the start of something bigger. THe people acting casually on the street DESPITE what just happened is a huge concern for something Fujimoto probably has cooking

I don't think it is tough right now to be a CSM fan. It is a tough time to be a CSM fan who likes plot progression and/or engaging fights though.
I enjoyed the chapter for what it was, but Fujimoto is seemingly on side quest after side quest without ever really firmly establishing the main plot.
Asa/Yoru remains - by far - the best thing Part 2 has going for it.

Ngl I feel the frustration despite chainsaw man pacing part 2 is fasts pace slow burn but with over arching plot/theme. Fujimoto is writing as he goes which is fine but I really wish manga scheduling was better to give him to write and draw to quality of part 1 or early part 2 arc. Theres soooo many plots and everyone so casual. Where is public safety? We know they bums and frauds but BE FOR REAL! Katana man Denji two horsemen and highschool territorsts shouldn’t be walking around. Makima never let this happen 😤

I can tell the last year has been very frustrating for you for Chainsaw man. Almost none of your theories ever come true even though most of them are very reasonable and would make sense.
The series hasnt had a solid cohesiveness in a LONG TIME but personally i love the chaos.
This obviously hasnt been good content for creators to use for videos, but its good content to just turn my brain off and read.

I think this manga is not meant to be read weekly. I feel like it you be much better and more enjoyable to wait until part 2 ends and then read everything at once. I know it’s impossible bcs we all (including me) want to know what happens but yeah, reading a chapter every week has not been that good so far.

I think there is one character that perfectly represents how much of a messy nothing burger part 2 is and that character is Nayuta. As Makima's reincarnation and Denji's sister she had a lot of potential like how powerful is she, what is her character and personality, how will Denji raise her and can he prevent her from becoming Makima 2.0 etc. What we got instead is a character that barely has any screentime, is only whining and complaining and there for comic relief and quick gags and might have died off screen with a cheap flashback accompanying it to trick us into carring. I remember how hyped i was to see Nayuta go full on Makima on Yoru in chapter 120 only for that to turn out to be comic relief and being resolved in 1 chapter and Asa's and Yoru's memories being erased on top of that so that the chapter basically got soft retconned and basically didn't happen. It perfectly shows the wasted potential and nothing story arcs that make up part 2 and as a fan it's pretty rough to witness.
And we don't even know what happened to Fakesaw Man, the leader that was on TV and that whole plot.

I've always been far more interested in the character relationships and drama of Chainsaw man then the action. I found the past two chapters really funny and interesting and stuff like that but looking back on it the prison break Arc definitely could have used a little bit of fat in the fight scenes. Because from the reader's perspective they basically just spent 15 minutes going finding chainsaw man and then leaving

Hmm so Death is king of terror yet we see people walking by corpse like it’s nothing. Even though death is a primal devil could it possibly be weaken like War because the people are just numb to it. They accepted death is inevitable therefore doesn’t fear it 🤔
Chapter was too short and it felt like it a few pages were missing with how abruptly it ended. I just wish the chapters were just doubled, idc if i had to wait for 3 or 4 weeks for chapters to stsrt having atleast 20-24 pages

For me, it's been a nothing burger for the past 10 chapters. Csm arcs rn fall off and fall on for me. The church arc was fire, I just wish they did more with Barem and denji being chainsaw man for longer to maybe fight him. But this prison break arc is pretty boring 😭
Stuff def has happened in the last 10 chapters but the fatigue of the importance of it has yet to come.
