Lot of great classic golden and silver age classics in this batch of books. Plus, you can't go wrong with a Matt Baker book. And Lou Fine had a very distinct drawing style, as you pointed out. I love works by artists like that, like Bill Everett, Bernard Krigstein, etc.
I can’t get CGC to turn around any of my books (many sitting rotting in their too humid unprotected sh!thole warehouse for >6 months) so I am always glad to see someone gets non-moderns back at some point.
The smartest thing anyone can do is get books subbed by big dealers. They always always always get better grades (CGC gives dealers & auction houses higher/softer grading).
Matt Baker wasn't the first black comic book artist (some say it might have been E. C. Stoner, or possibly Adolph Barreaux, who was mixed race), and it's highly debated whether or not he was gay (his family, recently, I believe his nephew, claims he was not). I believe The Comic Book Historians have a couple podcasts on the subject.
He was not the 1st black artist but by far the oldest well known. As far as gay, his family has denied that forever because they think it will be bad for his fame & their name.
I like the House of Secrets #92. I’d like to have a Incredible Hulk #181 but there’s absolutely no way I’ll ever be able to afford one. Hope you and your family have a good Thanksgiving Dave.
3:50. Resend a comic because you dont like the grade? So is it gonna heal over time? Or did you just accidentally prove that grading is bullshit & at best a rough estimate & not the exact science CGC claims? Y'all do understand that sending a book twice & getting different grades completely invalidates the entire concept of grading right?
Hardly alone anymore. Not after the 9.9 scandal, the employee switcheroo scandal, & enough slabs now available that people can often look at the same books with same grades & clearly see for themselves that the conditions are different... Said the following repeatedly & it never gets answered. If grading is such an exact science, then someone please explain how they supposedly CAN measure at a .2 scale difference for books between 1.0-2.0 & 9.0-9.8, (oh sorry, 9.9 now lol.) but everything in between is limited to a .5 scale??? GRADING IS BULLSHIT. Just because a buncha people fell for the grift doesn't change that.
That Cap 3 is incredible!
So glad you’re back and posting. I was looking for a video for the past 5 days😢
Thanks for the added Matt Baker info! His women really are sublime. 🔥👍
Those are beautiful, Dave! ⚡💥🎉
Thanks again for sharing. Could'nt imagine handling all these great books ever getting old.

*_Did CGC choose to not write "Bondage cover" because it's kids tied up?_*

Nice ASM 14 👊🏼🔥
Really gotta reel it back in with the side rants. Especially when you've explained something three times over and over again
What do you charge to press and clean ?

David how will CGC’s new turnaround times affect you?
Why didn’t you use your dad’s grading service?
Dave. Emailed you about the cap 3. Please respond 👍🏻

You talk as if you're a lone genius swimming in a sea of idiots.

So which comic was worth 50k again?
