What a beautiful video, very well done and quite satisfying. The Peugeot 407 is my favorite car, I plan to purchase one soon. Another subscriber and congratulations on the video! 😁👍🏼
To all 407 drivers: How is your general experience with this car? I´ve had mine for 3 months now (17 years old, 190.000 km) and it already broke down twice. The first time the alternator and the battery broke and the second time the shift cable snapped. Currently waiting for the breakdown service to deliver it to a workshop near my home town. Oh yeah and the servo pump is leaking some oil. So my experience with that car hasnt been that great so far..
Acutally it is all down to the service and let's be honest you can't really expect anything from a 17 year old, 190,000km car. Maybe the previous owner knew how the state of the car is and that's why he sold it. When it goes into the workshop here are things you should check on ALL cars usally every time they get serviced (once a year). -Loadcheck the alternator to see if it's still giving the expected power or if it's starting to go down. -check how good the battery is. -check the starter if it's engaging still fine or if somethings off. -check if the clutch makes odd noises -check if all gears are egaging just fine (doesn't matter if it's manual or automatic). -check if the A/C compressor still engages or if it's making odd noises -check if the throttle position sensor is not carboned up -check for rust pracically everywhere. (or if it's a diesel get the DPF, and EGR Valve checked and see if the injectors are leaking). -check if the turbo is still engaging From my experiene these 407 are no worse than a VW Passat from that time so they are ok cars not super reliable but O.K. If you are interested in some easy checks yourself watch ChrisFix or Scotty Kilmer on UA-cam they do know a lot about cars and what to look out for. They live in the U.S. of course so they don't know much about modern Peugeots but the old models in the U.S. were super reliable. One of my best friends is driving a 2011 Ford Fiesta 150.000km. The previous owner was in a wreck with it and the heated windscreen just works on the driver side, the passenger power windows don't work either. I myself had a horrible car a 2008 Mercedes A-Class A180 CDI, was falling apart at 160.000km, because from my experience that's when these A-Classes go downhill. I also stranded twice because my alternator was failing threw off the belt and my battery stopped charging, I got a warning sign but that car already gave me other warning signs that weren't real problems so I ignored it and stranded the next day. Then exacly 1 year later my A/C Compressor busted shot metal all over the place and ripped the belt of the alternator again, the sychro rings in my manual 6-speed transmission were worn out and it cracked everytime I shifted from 2-3 and also some annoying problems, my seat was ripped, the leather of the steering wheel feel off, the heated seats stopped working on the passenger side, the parking sensors front and back had a fault when they just came on at random occasions.. Back when I was 18 just way to expensive for a person still doing an apprenticeship. Then I had 1997 Honda Civic that never let me down but had a rust problem Anyway what I'm trying so say is: If you don't know (which isn't a bad thing as long as it doesn't annoy you, so if it does educate yourself) get your workshop to get your car checked out if anything is about to come up. Nearly 200.000km is a lot of Kilometers for some cars and decide if it's worth keeping. If you still like the car wherether it is the Sedan, Station Wagon or Coupé version of it, get a new one that is checked to the inside out or get a car that is knows to be reliable and I'm not talking about an old BMW or Mercedes; get a Honda or Toyota but there goes the same saying don't buy something that's not checked!
@@chriskonte1909 @Chriskonte wow thank you for your very detailed answer My problem ist that i am a student and i don't have a lot of money to spend on a car. I got the car for 1.500€ off eBay and considering the current unusully high prices for cars (at least where i come from) this was still a pretty good deal for a working car. I only took a short test drive where everything seemed fine, checked the engine oil which looked alright and i also looked under it and it has barely any rust considering the age. The 5+ pre owners and the sketchy service book made me overthink buying the car for a moment but on the other hand it had just gotten a new clutch, all new brakes and tires and fresh TÜV (Google If you don't know what that is because I think thats a Germany only thing). I knew from the beginning that eventually something would break especially considering I currently drive it 500 km every two weeks. The problem which made the car break down last time was actually just a snapped gear cable. I had to wait for 2 weeks until my autombile club brought the car back home for free since i was 250 km away. Lucklily my dad and i can fix some simple things on our cars and we managed to swap out both cables for only 60€. Have been driving another 500 km since without any problems and the motor and gear box are actually running pretty smooth. The gears tend to go in a little hard sometimes but im thinking about getting the transmission oil changed this April. I am planning to drive it until September this year when i'll have a steady income and hopefully enough money for something newer and most importantly less French.🤣
@@erdbeerschosch2839 Hello dear, I bought a 407 2.0 16v 140hp (160000 kms) since 6 months and it's fine (OKAY-ish), some minor things to repair or change but nothing major, what you have mentionned are very ordinary consumables which last around 150K -250K kms (depending on very random factors) , they do not say anything about the car reliability, I understand that you're a student and it's a bit of struggle to maintain a car (I lived with that too) but that's how it is to buy a second hand car with over 150k kms... remember, new cars cost no less that 25k-30k euros for a stupid small car nowadays...

Have mine for 15 years now. HDI FAP 2.2 170 HP with Chip Tuning to 225 HP. Never let me down despite regular faulty alarms on the obd. 1200 km with 60 l diesel. Not bad for an old car. That kind of sustainability will an electric drive never achive !
@Amar Omanovic Hello Amar ! It all depends on how you drive. Said drive of 1200 km on 60 l was on the german autobahn. Not too fast but not too slow also. It took me 4 h to drive 500 km to bavaria on the czech border. Outside temperature was cold, - 10 °C. So on a warmer day fuel consumption could haven been even better. Also to consider is good fuel quality and regular oil changes. I also add Ceratec by LiquiMolly to the engine oil after every change with an intervall of 15.000 km. And i am sure tuning by RaceChip helped a little, but not too much. On a regular basis - driving to work - the car needs rarely more than 6.2 l. I can even drive my 2010 Ford Ranger 3.2l TDi 156 Hp with Tuning to 200 Hp with less than 7 l on the Autobahn without being an obstacle to other drivers. Diesel rules !!!
@Amar Omanovic That is exactly the point. But considering that, i think your fuel consumption is quite okay. The prices are rising sky- high everywhere and that is the real problem. No technology and no fuel saving driving technique can counter this madness.
