If anyone wants my collection of unhinged / dumb emojis here they are on Google Drive: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LSrgk0qzFYUJypUAOkvP_GTr94PlKctK?usp=sharing Several of them I made myself in photoshop, others I found. You can add them as a sticker in iOS by viewing them in Photos and long pressing on them, it should automatically extract it out, then you can hit "Add Sticker".
I get what you mean by your phrasing, that there's no direct mention of Apple Intelligence here, but I'm pretty darned sure that math notes feature is powered by their "AI" stuff behind-the-scenes. But the user-facing experience hides all that crap from you, just type, it's intended to just work as expected (but we'll have to see how that pans out once real people start using it).
Hi Joe, as an Android user for more than a decade (I think I've only touched an iPhone once), what do you think will be the first thing that will shock, amaze, or surprise me when I start using an iPhone/iOS?
@@block_place1232 a lot of those things absolutely do not matter to the end user though, I'm a big supporter of FOSS but it doesn't make a difference to me whether the phone OS I use is open source or not (especially considering all the big manufacturers are not using stock android anyway). I don't jailbreak and I don't use custom launchers, and sideloading is even starting to become much easier (albeit the EU is having to force them into it lol). I'll probably still stick with my android for a while but if iOS keeps advancing at this rate, it might be worth looking into
I should probably mention that it's not "full" RCS support, we still do not have support for the encryption protocols we have between Android users. Although it sounds like Google is working on a solution for that...
This is exactly the video I needed today! One thing I've noticed is that legacy widgets are no longer supported. I used the Google home and kasa widgets multiple times a day to control devices in my home.
Actually Android has had a lot of these features for quite a while: - Pause recording - Wi-Fi / Hotspot QR codes - 'Apps' section in settings - Those lock screen colours - Power button when you pull the status bar - T9 dialling - Searching dial history - Android users can already group existing photo albums in a single group (yes, they're called groups) - Android users can 'filter' their photos so only screenshots are shown by actually tapping on the Screenshots album - Rich Communication Service (RCS) - 'Backspace' button in the calculator app together with calculation history and the converter option (only currency conversion is missing)
You can’t mention T9 dialing without a Linus!!!! (Half expected him to be the example contact, he’s been ranting about this not being a thing on WAN show for years)
I was hesitant about iOS 18 because some of the major changes were donkey, But thank god you made this video because I actually love these little changes! 😅
Are these really 😅 F in chat for iOS users who was suffering till now Like T9, video recording pause, backspace in calculator, search bar for recent calls... They are so logical that even many old phone had these features
Is there a way to move widgets for example a 2x2 clock widget to be in the center and an app on both sides because it snaps to either the left or right and every 2 lines like it did before unless they haven't changed that?
The thing with Apple and iOS is they just wait for people to integrate things into android then finally after a while they integrate it into iPhones and iOS
Anyone else still having issues with HDMI out dongles? I still use my iPhone 11 ProMax and up until ios18 it seemed to be removed all together. Now this morning when I tried it after upgrading it worked for about 10 seconds then stopped. Now this morning signal out not even charging.
idk y im surprised by this considering its apple we talkin about but how did it take them this long to add such a basic feature as pausing a video while recording
A few years ago, your video about the LG G6 convinced me to buy it. And it was worth it. Now, I think I'm going to use an iPhone for the first time because of you (Though Samsung will still be my main phone)
Here's my collection on Google Drive: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LSrgk0qzFYUJypUAOkvP_GTr94PlKctK?usp=sharing Several of them I made myself in photoshop, others I found.
yea apple tends to HIDE ALOT of things. Like the voice records in their customer support , your call is not being recorded for your benefit just theirs.
QR network password share is a really useful feature! Why did apple not do this earlier, I'm a android user, I use it all the time! Only reason Im watching is my dad using iOS
They need to overhaul and simplify settings. There is just too much crap on screen and it's impossible to find anything. If it weren't for the search function, absolutely nothing could be found.

@@TheNuttGuysame, especially given apple intelligence doesn’t exist on ios 18
You forgot the inverted commas around Intelligence.
That math notes feature is pretty cool actually

My iphone 17 too
same with my iphone SE 1
The calculator changes are cool.
2:18 So glad to see a fellow Apollo sideloader
Legendary ThioJoe video
YES, this is an amazing video highlighting those awesome QOL features and actually explaining them properly. Thanks!
You can now pause the recording
Android users in the corner: Oh we didn't knew that
Today I learned that iPhone didn't have T9 for phone calls 😅
This is a more useful video than other UA-cam creator videos.
Hi Joe, as an Android user for more than a decade (I think I've only touched an iPhone once), what do you think will be the first thing that will shock, amaze, or surprise me when I start using an iPhone/iOS?
Hm I’d have to think about it cuz i’ve used it so long 🤔
The best thing about Apple is that their features actually work reliably, they aren’t gimmicky like a lot of android features
@@ThioJoe 🙂👍🏻 okay
no bugs - no adware - no virus
Literally everything.
As a long time Android user, I'm starting to run out of arguments for why it's better than iOS 😭😭 might need to switch over sometime soon...
root, open source, jailbreaks easier, custom phone launchers, apks i could go on for hours

@@block_place1232 soon all of those will be MUCH harder to do on android 15🫤 google is shooting themselves in the foot with the upcoming changes

I've just figured out I can make shortcuts for kasa scenes and put them in the control centre, so that will do for now
9:16 pretty sure this has been around since stickers have been around.
The best video about iOS 18 features, and I watched like 10 of them at this point. Good work!
Wow! Thank you son much
Can you share the 5g lte toggle shortcuts pls they made it harder to create this update. Thanks 🙏
Great video! Learned a few things despite being on the beta for a couple months now.
ThioJoe iPhone 16 pro or should I wait for S25 ultra?
Please make a video about WinUi 3 Gallery ( Available in Ms Store)

Nice finds.
Any idea why I don’t have messages in Car Play since iOS 18?
You think you might consider also doing these videos for new Android versions? 🤔
I haven't used android as a daily driver in ages but I'll consider it
When will we be able to turn off all alarms at once ? Without using a shortcut or other workaround
Math Notes also detects handwriting and adapts to it.

I think he’s confusing pausing on Apple to lagging and freezing on Android. And yes, stuttering is a feature of Android for MANY years.

this made me realize how much iOS is behind (it's not entirely behind though)
Scary.
The add to wallet feature could easily be used by bad actors.
Would you hand over a card to an iPhone based card reader?

Calculator update is fire(im on android)
they should make slow charger graph lines green, and fast charger lines orange/red to encourage charging the way that is best for battery health
