I remember when I was in my teens in the late 90s and early 2000s, THIS is how I thought about politics. I always thought "the government is going to save us". I always thought "that candidate is bad because the news said so". And I also had those little child-like thoughts like "why doesn't the government just give everyone a million dollars so that we can end poverty" lol. As for myself, I'm on the same health insurance as everyone else in Canada; if I need to go for a hospital visit, I just need to present the triage nurse my health card. If I need pills, my doctor gives the pharmacy the green light and they document it on my card. Others aren't so lucky on the medication aspect as they -do- need to pay for the prescription regardless if it's for an infection or for life kinda thing.
