- Miko Peled is the son of a decorated Israeli general. His grandfather was one of 37 Israelis who signed Israel’s declaration of independence.
His mother came from a wealthy family of “blue-blooded” Zionists, yet even though she has lived her whole life in support of Israel, she would lament to her son about the unfortunate ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Jerusalem in 1948.
Peled had his doubts about Israel’s occupation ever since its actions in Lebanon in 1982, but his eyes were fully opened after he did a tour of the occupied territories in the early 2000s. It was then clear to him that Israel was involved in what is now an “eight decades-long ethnic cleansing and genocide” of Palestinians.
Peled believes that Israel will stop at nothing if given the opportunity to completely ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank; it’s just a matter of when and how.
The only thing that will stop Israel, he believes, is if the international community forces it to, by imposing "sanctions immediately".

There are no "terrorists" in Gaza.
If Israel thinks it has a right to defend itself, why did it take six hours to respond to Hamas attack? It Israel want to get the hostages back, alive, why are they bombing the loacations were the hostages are expected to be held? Israel funded Hamas and helped Hamas get elected as a rival to the secular Palestinians. Israel benefits more from Hamas than the Palestinians, Palestinians are being scapegoated for Israel and Hamas war crimes. Activists need to put emphasis on Israel funding Hamas. The West and Israel get away with funding all sorts of Islamic extremist groups then scapegoat average Muslims for the backlash that results from it. The US, West, and Israel are the creators of AlQaeda, ISIS, etc and average Muslims get scapegoated for their war crimes. Israel collaborates with alQaeda and ISIS in Syria. Osama Ben Laden was a CIA asset and Hamas is an Isreali asset. What is so incredibly scary is that Isreal has gotten away with spreading lies (Atrocity libel) against the Palestinians. Western governments and mainstream media go along with Israeli lies such as 40 beheaded babies, mass rapes, babies in ovens. baby being cut out of woman's womb, etc. Investigatiative journalist Max Blumenthal (of Greyzone website) is one of many who have debunked the Atrocity libels against Palestinians. Jewish extremists have shown themslive to just as genocidal and bigoted as Christian extremists.

The only thing you can kind of bring in as a counter argument, is the involvement of civilians. Under international law, civilians are a big no-no. I don't think that, but IANAL, under international law, taking people hostage is treated differently from killing them. So one could argue that, by taking hostages, Hamas violated international law. Though, obviously, the severity of that pales in comparison to what Israel did, both to their own caught in the cross-fire, and the Palestinians in the months since.

If you want to understand more about zionism and how it works, it is important to see it as a political religion in Voegelin's sense. That is, as an ideology with religious-like traits. It is the last surviving of the 20th century political religions (communism, nationalsocialism, etc).
So Miko Peled is an apostate, who struggled to free himself from this closed and demanding belief system, just like Ilan Pappe, Avraham Burg, etc. In essence it's the same story as the struggle to leave the Mormon church, or another high-demand cult.

As a student, teacher and practitioner in area of human behaviour and nuisances I see the reasoning behind the hypervigilance on part of many Jews which stem from holocaust and other pogroms. Over last many decades this hypervigilance had been systematically introjected to many Jews and Zionists which had now taken the form of obsession and high sense of entitlement. Unfortunately this is now so deep rooted in the ruling elite generation. They see the younger generation raised without such traits and fears as uninformed and child like. In today’s world there are so many solutions to end this conflict but one needs to be brave and open minded. The solutions range from the UN peace army or another 3rd party provides security in Gaza and US make sure no major harm is done to Israel side. This obsession of the whole world is against Israel has to be dismantled to reach any solution. Reality is that no slogans from any faction can create genocide on Jews or anyone else without any significant means and the biggest holder of those means is US.

On the point of voting for change: most politicians openly support Israel, most are shoehorned into supporting Israel and those that are openly critical of Israel are ousted from candidacy. Supporting Israel is also an enforced policy in many USA states if the candidate or business owner earns over a certain amount, I forget if it was ~$10,000 or ~$100,000.
