THANK YOU, Larkin's Lair. It is because of good-willed people like you who actually post youtube how-to vids that the rest of us "home mechanics" are able to make things work. You saved me a few hundred dollars today. Bless you!
Thanks. My 2005 starter is not working, it has lasted almost 17 years. Nice. You've convinced me not to do this on my own and will take it to my mechanic. I used to do my own work, but just don't want to bother anymore. Thanks again.
Lucky for you. My 2012 has 70k and my starter needs replacing already. Have to tap it every time to start. Thanks for the video. Looks like a doable job even though not much space
This video was incredibly helpful. Also had to laugh at "Where else would the 10mm be other than missing?" line. Those important sockets always seem to grow legs.
I am glad it helped! I lost sockets before I had kids, now I have a 2 year old that puts those things everywhere! I found a small socket wrench in my snow blower shoot last winter.
The 4 cylinder process is different on my 2015 since it’s much higher and on top of the oil filter. I took off the passenger wheel & wheel well liner, and it was easily accessible from there!
Just a tip, most people who are gonna try to do it themselves aren’t usually familiar with the flat pin connector and the you shower the nut on the harness.
Great video ,but I found that the removal of the 14 mm bolt above the starter holding the heat shield is not required. Just removing the two 10 mm heat shield bolts is sufficient . Then remove the starter wire nut and unplug the connector and last thing take out the two 14 mm starter bolts and starter can be removed easily. Can be done in 30 minutes start to finish
Unfortunately I took my channel in a different direction. I would recommend you find a different video because I don't think I will get around to making a better one on this topic. Good Luck!

I hope it goes (or went) well for you. I am a hard core DIYer. You can save SO much money.

Good to know, and glad you got it figured out.

Good tip!
Did you find it easier to remove the starter by pulling it out towards the front or the rear of the vehicle? Thanks
This guy was telling the truth.. I finished mines in 30 min. Just follow this 🤙🏻😎 Mahalo from Oahu!
How
Front or back i can't get that heat shield off?
Perfect video. Gonna be doing this soon and will be using this video as guide.
I can’t take out the bolts.. tried hitting it with a hammer and no luck… any ideas
Get a bigger breaker bar. If you don't have AT LEAST a 24" breaker bar in your garage then I don't know what to tell you.
How did you get that top bolt off?
Lots of four letter words + time.
Help, i can not get that heat shield off.
Try searching a few other videos and using a few of your favorite four letter words. Good luck!
Nice job!
💪
I love how safe that jack is 🫣
10mm missing lol - so true
