The construction to help boats through different levels is called "Sluss" in Swedish and "Lock" in English. Kalles used to be called Kalles Kaviar, but the name had to be changed when we entered the EU due to rules, it didn't contain enough Roe. It goes very well with Egg. Every time since I was a kid, I start to look for Jätten Vist (The Giant Vist) as soon as I get to that road along Vättern. A statue of it is placed by Huskvarna. The Giant thought the lake was too large to step over, so he threw a boulder into the middle, creating the island Visingsö. It was always the absolute best thing on a road trip from Stockholm to the west coast. That was before the internet of course.
The way you film and post, I see no difference if it's a rainy day or a sunny day. I only see how beautiful our Sweden is. You guys are really good at filming at the right moment. You are doing Sweden a really great service through your film clips. Sorry for the mosquitoes =)

Cool, I am from the City of Jönköping, or just to the West of it towards Bankeryd in a place called Trånghalla. I have a house on the banks overlooking the lake, with a bridge, sauna etc down below at the water levels. I think you have caught some amazing pictures around the lake. In July 2021 I decided without any pre-planning that I should go around the lake and this 50% on foot. The lake is 300km around it so said and done the next day, 13 July 2021 I put on 18kg and started to walk. I booked along the road at some hostels in Hjo, Karlsborg, Tiveden, as well as some hotel and airbnb. I was back in my place on the South West edge of Lake Vättern on 24 July, 9 days later (had stayed 2 night in Hjo though) and by the I had done 171km by foot. The lake is big and beautiful! I am happy that you are enjoying Sweden. Please come back! Cheers!

Yes Sweden is very tourist friendly even though we might not be a huge tourist destination. When you were at Gränna you should have stoped at one of the candycain factories, its the origin of the candycain 🙂 See you turned south again, but if you ever end up a bit further north near a town called Eskilstuna you might want to take a break, the biggest motorhome/caravan dealership in the country is located next to that town. Besides a large store with a lot of gear you might want or need and of course you can buy LPG too. They also have free parking with acces to water and place to empty gray water and such. And for the fun of it you can of course peek at all the new motorhomes and dream a little 😊
This is the correct way to discover Sweden! Nature, small roads, random renaissance castles. I live about an hour from Omberg, and have visited most of the places you showed. It's the oldest tree in the world even. But it's located in a very remote area, and the tree itself is extremely unimpressive and so not worth the effort to get there.
If it is glazed it is normally powdered sugar with a few drops of water making up the glaze. ;) Happy to see you enjoying Swedish food items and much more. Göta Kanal actually run through Sweden from Stockholm on the east coast to Gothenburg on the west coast through all three largest lakes of Sweden. Max width of a boat passing is about 11 meters (which is information I got a few years back) but it cost a bundle to go through it all the way.
I can image about the Gota Kanal, really interesting... we never knew about it until we were looking up the area around Vattern and then looked at the canals on the map going from lake to lake to coast. Amazing ! And yeah we're loving the Swedish food and nature ☺️
You can stay anywere you want for 24 houers in Sweden as long as you dont block traffic or are i someones garden. You can even put up a tent if you want, ps. love your vlog.

When you are out and about in the forests and tall grass, make sure to check yourself when you get home. Ticks are common in Sweden. Also check the dog. Last year 594 people got TBE (Tick-borne encephalitis) in Sweden, so its not very common to get sick. But its nasty when you do.

That sign was actually misspelled at the end. It should have been "annan". Instead it was "anna" which is a girls name in Sweden. So hearing you read it was even more funny than it sounded for you :) You could see that someone had tried to correct it... Also. Swedish has some similarities with German as they are both germanic languages. Some words are even the same.
@@TravelTalesVlogs If your happy with the spray then good for you. However i have tried many different sprays and non of them really work for me, atleast not as good as the Thermacell. Enjoy your wildlife exploration!
The stuff you put on that baguette with prawns is that expensive, because that is the one they normally makes in that store and its way better quality. There are more cheeper similar stuff with prawns and they cost 3:d of what you paid. Its called "skagenröra" and when you look at that, you can find a lot of different types where some have jam or chicken...
Looks like you ate a Kardemumma-bulle. (cardamom bun) Way inferior of the all mighty Cinnamon bun. Also everything got so much more expensive after covid. Lots of things are 20-60% more nowdays. By the way, those steps on the observation tower are great during winter.
Someone had scratched out the last N on that sign at the viewpoint at Gränna. So technically it didn't say "someone could get hurt" but "Anna could get hurt". Some top quality swedish humor there. 😁
Norway up next ! Although we passed from the west of Sweden and it looks amazing. We initially wanted to go to Smogen so will have to come back for sure 😊
She says "oh my God, it's so wild.." in a park like forest with zero underbrush 😂. You really need to go to northern scandinavia if you want REAL forests that goes on forever with at best animal paths where no man have walked for years and years. That is the true experience of Sweden ❤ (but don't forget the mosquito and gnat spray, they can be vicious in the north!)
You really ought to stay in Sweden until fall. Then you would see more wildlife. The moose will mate, which means you would see some horny moose bulls searching for the cows. You would see bears hunting elks, deers and moose to fatten up before hibernation. Just stay (if your caravan can keep you warm) and wait and see. Great nature experiences compared to summertime. Love your channel btw❤️
Thanks so much glad you're enjoying the vids ❤️ yeah that would be nice, don't think we will be here in Autumn but definitely a great suggestion because we for sure want to come back again !
With regards of the Swedish language, do a UA-cam search on "Swedish" and "pitch accent" to get an explanation of the pronounciation. For me, you sound a bit more Norwegian. 😉
Someone have messed with that sign... Förbjudet att kasta föremål, fara för ANDRA! Anna is a common Swedish female name🤣 If you translate the English words. And i think that's a better way to say what they mean also in Swedish. Förbjudet att kasta saker, någon kan skada sig. And you can see that if you trow a stone there it can be bad!!!
It does not help that Coop a few years back almost halved their inventory either and got way more expensive. Hemköp and WIllys are still the best stores (imo) but they are not really in smaller towns.
Its not prawns, its shrimps! We eaven have a saying, "Glida på en räkmacka", = slide on a shrimp sandvich.. kinda getting without any effort! Shrimps are expensive, prawns are cheap.. only served at Asian or Medeterian resturantes! Next time at a local shop or caffe.. buy a "Räkmacka"!
@@TravelTalesVlogs I forgot to give a description of this delicasy; "Räksmörgås: Swedish Shrimp Sandwich and more" ua-cam.com/video/z_6oH9AetbA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DanAnna
No, om in Omberg has nothing to do with orm (snake). It's from the Old Norse ama meaning fog. So fog mountain. Omberg is also the home of the giant Queen Omma from many old stories.
@@TravelTalesVlogs i understand why, we have 6 months of insects so yhey pack all years activities to half the time and all the lakes and other wet areas mean pla es for mosquitoes and other to hatch
That sign at the lookout point made no sense what so ever. Looks like it is missing a letter but i can not for the life of me get it to match anything that the translation say in English. Anna is a name and not a word. And no letter i can think of make Anna+letter a word. Your accent is closer to Norwegian than Swedish.
There Is absolutely nothing to be scared about sleeping out in the forests of Sweden. I have been sleeping in a sleepingbag in so many different places, with no tent, nothing. But sometimes it have been quite awkward when I havent gone so very far away front some hikingtrail to wake up to some tourists walking almost over me to be able to continue 🥹.. . But there Is nothing to be scared about, because the people out in the forests are just like you guys, normal non criminal people. Criminals afe in the cities, and they dont go out for a hikeä. Thats also why you can see that places dont get vandalised and people have this mindset in the Northern countries "You must always leave the place in as good condition as you found it"

@@TravelTalesVlogs Boil eggs, slice the egg and put it on a sandwich then put kaviar on top of it.
You should have bought Polkagris sweats from Gränna, because that place is famous of these sweet... Its also a cosy little place.
Will look them up !
She is hungry/tired and you show a low battery indicator. Ten seconds after the food she is singing and dancing to her fika. Someone must be sensitive to low blood sugar!
And I love that your dog is totally indifferent to all the kisses. That means it is very used to being kissed and loved. My dogs usually sighs like they try to say "Again? You kissed me just minutes ago already!" whenever i kiss them.
Yeah she is definitely spoilt ! ☺️
Hey, am a bit late in watching your video but at least it is still Sunday 😂.
Am pleased to see that your adorable little dog 🐕🐕🐕 Holly is looking much better.
Wow stunning views and places where you are, I enjoyed your video very much.
Thank you for taking me places that I can never go.
Update
I am rather ill, I have to have my gallbladder removed but there's a 12 month waiting list, am also not allowed fried foods, coffee or tea because of the caffeine.
And no dairy foods.
But hey it's the summer 🌞⛱️🌞⛱️
I really love 💕 this time of year and this year as gone by soooo quickly.
I cannot wait to see you both of your next adventure.
Love you guys
Take care 😘 X X X
💋's for Holly X X X
Thank you Sue glad you enjoyed watching the video !
Best wishes from us all and hope they fit you in asap ❤️
Loved the vlog, especially the aerial footage. One thing that puzzles me is why don’t bloggers use dedicated video cameras, but prefer dslrs?
Thanks Terence managed to get some lovely shots around this beautiful area ❤️ Not sure but so many different options to record vids
That sign was actually misspelled at the end. It should have been "annan". Instead it was "anna" which is a girls name in Sweden. So hearing you read it was even more funny than it sounded for you :)
You could see that someone had tried to correct it...
Also. Swedish has some similarities with German as they are both germanic languages. Some words are even the same.
Oh it must have come off 😂 Yeah and we also found out a couple of words the same as Maltese too 🤯
You should try and get an Thermacell to repell the mosquitoes.
Thank you - the spray is a lifesaver tbh already ☺️
@@TravelTalesVlogs If your happy with the spray then good for you. However i have tried many different sprays and non of them really work for me, atleast not as good as the Thermacell. Enjoy your wildlife exploration!
nice editing
Thank you so much ❤️
Terriers have such energy. Dont know how she can live in a van....
Yeah she is energetic at times, luckily we have a massive garden wherever we go 🙂
The stuff you put on that baguette with prawns is that expensive, because that is the one they normally makes in that store and its way better quality. There are more cheeper similar stuff with prawns and they cost 3:d of what you paid. Its called "skagenröra" and when you look at that, you can find a lot of different types where some have jam or chicken...
Thank you for all the info ❤️
Your Sweden videos have an amazing developement, compared to the danish ones.
Thank you, Sweden has indeed been interesting 🙂
Looks like you ate a Kardemumma-bulle. (cardamom bun) Way inferior of the all mighty Cinnamon bun. Also everything got so much more expensive after covid. Lots of things are 20-60% more nowdays. By the way, those steps on the observation tower are great during winter.
Yeah it was tasty !! ☺️
Try the Kalles Kaviar on a eggsandwich😉
Making me hungry now
To me it looked like a Cardemum bun, but it was hard to tell
Pretty tasty either way 🙂
Sweden might be one of the most underrated countries in Europe.
We loved it there ❤️
You sound like a surprised finnish guy that speaks swedish.
Haha got me ! 😲 🇫🇮
Someone had scratched out the last N on that sign at the viewpoint at Gränna. So technically it didn't say "someone could get hurt" but "Anna could get hurt".
Some top quality swedish humor there. 😁
That's epic 😅
Are you going to the most beautiful place in Sweden? The west coast ;)
It’s sounds good Bromölla 😊 Nice and calm vid 👍🏻
Thank you ❤️
You really ought to stay in Sweden until fall.
Oh no well I tried my best 😂
Do you buy your groceries at ICA btw, because they are butt expensive?
Yeah we used ICA a few times for sure !
Hey Kent thanks for your comment ☺️ yeah it seems someone tampered with it !
The biggest store ICA is unfortunately pushing other brands away to sell their own garbage. So the customers choice is getting limited.
I see, we've been using ICA quite a lot as they seem to have everything and also tend to have bigger parking lots too !
@@TravelTalesVlogs if you want to buy cheeper goods try Willys or Lidl.
It does not help that Coop a few years back almost halved their inventory either and got way more expensive.
Hemköp and WIllys are still the best stores (imo) but they are not really in smaller towns.
YOU ACCENT WAS MORE ITALIAN :D
Definitely makes sense 😀
Not bad, but Swedish has both long and short vowels. You are using only short vowels.
Looks like a tasty summer treat ! 😀
@@TravelTalesVlogs I forgot to give a description of this delicasy;
"Räksmörgås: Swedish Shrimp Sandwich and more"

Looking for elves?
Hope there are no snakes here! haha the name of the place is Orm (snake) berget (mountain)
That sounds like a snake hub ☺️
No, om in Omberg has nothing to do with orm (snake). It's from the Old Norse ama meaning fog. So fog mountain.
Omberg is also the home of the giant Queen Omma from many old stories.
bug repellant is more or less necessary to enjoy Swedish nature, without you will become an involuntary blood donor.
Yeah we're using it more than deodorant in Sweden 🤣
@@TravelTalesVlogs i understand why, we have 6 months of insects so yhey pack all years activities to half the time and all the lakes and other wet areas mean pla es for mosquitoes and other to hatch
That sign at the lookout point made no sense what so ever. Looks like it is missing a letter but i can not for the life of me get it to match anything that the translation say in English.
Anna is a name and not a word. And no letter i can think of make Anna+letter a word.
Your accent is closer to Norwegian than Swedish.
Thank you 🙂
In the forrest no on can her your wife scream!
Stop complaining at everything woman
There Is absolutely nothing to be scared about sleeping out in the forests of Sweden. I have been sleeping in a sleepingbag in so many different places, with no tent, nothing.
But sometimes it have been quite awkward when I havent gone so very far away front some hikingtrail to wake up to some tourists walking almost over me to be able to continue 🥹.. . But there Is nothing to be scared about, because the people out in the forests are just like you guys, normal non criminal people. Criminals afe in the cities, and they dont go out for a hikeä. Thats also why you can see that places dont get vandalised and people have this mindset in the Northern countries
"You must always leave the place in as good condition as you found it"
Yeah this is pretty much the same in most places and why we love it. Sometimes the further away from people the safer it is 🙂
You missed the famous big fine runestone, Rökstenen/the Rök runestone. You should get to it next time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%B6k_runestone
Thank you for your suggestion 😊 we passed not far from there, looks really cool. Definitely one for next time !
