Thanks for the tip. The gasket is pretty deep and hard to pull out, plus the thin threads on top get mouldy so quickly, that it must be a design flaw and I'm never buying anything ninja again. The product manual does not ask you to remove the gasket when cleaning the blade assembly so I'd bet most people's are filthy without them knowing it. Ninja probably realised it's dangerous to ask consumers to use a butter knife to pry the gasket out, plus it could damage the gasket, and therefore recommend never cleaning it properly instead. Ninja also don't officially sell replacement gaskets and want you to re-buy the whole blade assembly, which is such a waste.
I wrap new floss around the gasket each time I clean it (let the ends hang out). The lid easily screws on to the blender with the floss in place. You just pull on the floss ends and the gasket comes out undamaged!
Here’s the problem - if you use any tool not provided by Ninja and you damage the gasket, you invalidate your warranty. There is 100% no way that Ninja isn’t aware of this major design oversight. They haven’t bothered to fix it. In contrast, I have a Vitamix with an easily removable gasket for this very reason - it was thoughtfully designed. The Ninja blender was not.

Thanks! I fashioned a paperclip into a similar shape using a pair of pliers, and it worked with some fiddling! Now I'll use the floss technique another commentor mentioned to take it out in the future
Great idea, I didnt even know it was there until I noticed the sticky sour yogurt smell. Too bad it couldnt just be taken apart to get access to the gasket.

Thank you for this video. I have gotten violently I'll twice from mold I could not see on this thing and I finally figured it out! Such a terrible design.
You're not supposed to remove the gasket ever according to Nutribullet. (Our gasket just fell out one day). But I agree it should come with one and be cleanable. These things seem to get black mold growth in them no matter how well you take care of them. Totally insane. And then they say you're supposed to replace the entire lid unit every 6 months with the new gasket that comes already inside the new lid and blade assembly. Absolutely not.
@@Ibuddy66 garbage design forces you to either consume mold every time you blend a drink or keep giving them money despite already buying their product
I use a curved grapefruit knife, being careful to keep the blade flat against the outside of the lid's recessed groove, turning the lid. In the same way that the dental pick lifts the gasket, the curved grapefruit knife doesn't damage the gasket & eases it up & out of the groove. You may have a grapefruit knife handy, or find more practical uses for it.
Can it be used without the rubber ring? I bought a replacement blade and put the ring in, tried to twist it onto the ninja cup, but it wouldn't screw on. Any suggestions?

Thank you for this video. I bought mine off of a coworkers garage sale a few months back. Decided to start using it now. And mama always taught me to clean all things that are gonna touch my food. So i was not happy about what I found. Luckily I also have a dental pick just lying around. Now I feel less weird about it! Haha!!!
THANK YOU!!!! I just bought one a few days ago, and noticed that it smelled sour at the gasket and I haven't been able to figure out a way to get it out! The Nutribullet is much better in this respect, although I'm afraid of it exploding, so I bought the Ninja after the Nutribullet.
What are people using their blender for that gets the gasket nasty? I've been using my old one for months without thinking about it and just checked and there isn't a smell or any visible mold. I was checking reviews for the new one I got and so many people have this issue and I don't get it.

I had a set of plastic dental pics at home. Broke 3 of them. Never did get the gasket out. I wonder if they glue them in now? Edit: I finally got it out with a butter knife. What a crap design.
According to Nutribullet you're not supposed to EVER remove the gasket from the lid. I see why now.... Because they get filled with black mold in there!!! Yuck!!!!
Joe Fleenor I have a issue with my ninja, I bought a new gasket and when I try to put inside of the blade base, the glass doesn’t fit because lost the length that is now occupied for the gasket, I don’t know if you understand me. what do you think? thanks for your time.
I had a dental pick lying around the house. And as stated in the video you can buy them for a few dollars on line or at the local hardware store. Also I said this is the best method I found. It works for me. When you find a way that works for you with something that is lying around your house please let me know.
A butter knife also works decently. It takes about 30 seconds to wiggle it around a few spots and extract and pop the gasket out to clean the gasket seating area / well. Makes it easier if the gasket well area is a little wet Also don't forget to clean the gasket seating area / well, where the gasket mates and seals too, there's ridges in the inner body wall there that get gunkified I found the following brush on Amzn that works well BSMstone Tiny Cleaning Brush-Mini Multi-Functional Crevice Cleaning Brush, Water Bottle Cleaning Tools for Bottle Cup,Nursing Bottle Cup-1Pack…

I'm glad that works for you.
Brilliant idea!
removing the gasket is fine; how do you put the gasket back in the lid, when its new, or after cleaning the gasket?
Smart idea!
Thank you I will try this!! The gasket drives me bonkers
Thank you, ninja should come up with this tool added to pick and probably pay you for it

Thanks so much. Bought some picks off Amazon. Cleaned the gunk out now I can use it again
I open a paper clip on one side and with plyers I made a small ell shaped tool. Works great

How to get the thing back in though!!!!! Mine won't go back in without going all sqew wiff
THANK YOU! That thing was so hard to get out. I didn't have a dental pick, but I had a clay tool that's similar and it works great!
Thank you for this video. I have gotten violently I'll twice from mold I could not see on this thing and I finally figured it out! Such a terrible design.
Omg bless your heart sir, I had no idea that thing could come out 🙏🏻 thank you so much!
Right?! I wish I had seen this video before damaging my gasket. 🤦♀️
apparently it’s important to keep it clean
@@julescolorado what type of damaged ?
This should come with a tool to remove the blade for cleaning, like my Vitamix does

Where can we purchase additional gaskets?
We use a butter knife and works perfectly fine for over 3 years

This is the dumbest thing ever. Why would they sell this without a tool
How do I put this thing back on??

Could you please post a link to this dental pick? I didn't find this exact shape.
I literally never knew there was a gasket in it. I've used it every day for 5 years.

I Got 2 Blades Recently !
You Got To Keep Them Gaskets Clean Indeed. I Got The Original Blades Fairly Reasonable.
Thanks very helpful! I used an opened paper clip!
Thanks, this came out while blending and been trying to figure out what it was. I'll pop it back in pronto Toronto. Cheers!
how do you put the gasket back in the lid, when its new, or after cleaning the gasket?
can i use a more gentle tool like a toothpick? im just worried the pointy metal of dental pick might damage the gasket.
It didn't hurt our gasket. And a toothpick isn't strong enough.
Thank you I am going to try this
Brilliant! Thanks!
Was able to remove it with some tweezers very easily 👍
You saved me 😅
I never removed gasket until one time they are all molded. gross!! now I have to clean it every time.

I cannot find how to REassemble

YEAH and that gunk and junk will make you either mildly sick possibly or even kill you - food poisoning - food poisoning yourself if your not careful
How do you reinsert that gasket??
It just slipped right back in for me.
Thank for this video. Lol
It has to be cleaned after using it...
It's badly designed. I found it gradually starts leaking rust.
I used old tweezers
Thanks

The only thing I can think of is that you now have two gaskets in the cap. Make sure there is only one.
I used a picklock tool, that works fine. Order at ebay for a buck
That's a good idea.
Easy to remove. Impossible to reinstall.
That's a dental probe lol
