You really have to research your potential purchase in detail, right down to which engine. The C1 is a very reliable car but I wouldn't touch most other French cars with a bargepole. Similarly with VW, the old 1.9TDI is bulletproof if properly serviced but they have produced other engines that are not as robust.
A lot of VW these days are utter horse crap. They have done so much cost out on critical components, I'm surprised they last more than two years at light use!

It's funny, I always say Ford. People swear by them or at them, no inbetween. I'm in the latter camp for Ford, never had a good one. I now say VAG are my German Ford. I've never had a VAG group product that wasn't problematic. Mercedes all the way if going German for me.

Barchetta looked awesome, get it advertised before the weather totally closes in, tyre will have flats on it being stood all this time, square wheels bud. Ultra low miles is OK but it brings it's own problems.

part exchange is crucial for me. I dont want to deal with insuring a 2nd vehicle temporarily for huge amounts of money. and to deal with selling the car privately. A dealer who wont take part ex would just be a deal breaker for many customers. I'm not even asking for top money or privatge sale price. Just give me a little bit more than webuyanycar price.

With these type of p exs bud I just start off at a bit higher than scrap, don't think in what can I get for it done up, I took 2 in last week, an 08 accord 495, flipped for 850 and a rav 57 plate, 300 quid as head had gone, flipped for 450 as spares, any more and your just buying business, rough ones trade out or just semi retail with a basic clean, got to be to the right sort of person tho, keep your minter for full on retail, I'd get rid of bipper and polo with just a basic clean and level check. Tbh I'm reluctant to take p ex as on cheaper cars it's bound to be a shed, more or less definite tbh.
Turn up to ‘do a deal’ and bring a Px to view with the idea of getting their best deal - and the car is an absolute skip. Not even made the effort to half clean the mud out of it or put a hose over it. It’s all in the optics … crikey … not a great negotiation tactic. Trade that one out and don’t waste the time.
I would be embarrassed to drop a car off with the inside looking that dirty. This would be a red flag on an owner having taken care of the vehicle in general.
I'll only really take a p ex in on a cheap car if its just above scrap price, 4 to 500 quid, I don't want my profit tied up in a rough one that I've got to spend money on and it's still a rough one, wbac are even lower than scrap these days, so at say 500 your doing your customers a favour, tbh I'd rather sell my cars cheaper than end up loads of totally knackered p exs, lots of really rough cars about these days, some nightmare the customer s bought off Facebook the other week and found it's a dog.

We had bippers at work and they were a lot better vans than people think . They easily go over 150.000 miles with very little hassle . We have ford's now and they are a nightmare

I dont mind the little Bippers to be honest - we've had them at work painted in red and they are very nippy, they kind of drive a bit like a Fiat Panda so they're surprisingly fun. They're not without their issues although where I work they do tend to kead hard lives being thrashed getting to a 1pm special delivery when the clock is at 12.58pm 🫣

I couldn't drive anything called a Bipper. Didn't get this in Australia. Stellantis doesn't do well over here. Awful support from them.
I worked at euro car parts for 2 yrs and i was in charge of all maintenance and the sycro in gearbox had to be replaced after 20k miles on 8 out of 10
We ran Bipper vans at my old company....all of them needed gearbox repairs very regularly! Absolutely crap!
