    This is definitely an interesting point, because tbh...novices when using a DAW often forget to use some variability even if only a few milliseconds in order to get that sort of natural drummer sound. The worlds best drummers and other musicians can definitely play like robots...they choose not to though. On purpose.
    Jimi Hendrix(and the people he worked with) is perhaps one of the best examples. His timing, tempo, rhythm, groove, use of reverse delay and many other techniques was absolutely amazing. He used time itself like a separate sine wave or how in EDM you would perhaps use LFO modulations of envelopes, tempo, and filters (or effects).
    If you see even his studio recordings beatmapped, the tempo wbbs and flows up and down subtly, yet is always in the pocket with the drums and other instruments. He was probably a difficult guitarist to play along with, yet with a good drummer: he was legendary

    Ghost notes is what MAKES groove! I love listening to hand percussion like tabla, conga, cajon, etc and hearing how they just keep that groove going even if you can't HEAR it exactly🙌🔥✌️
    This video was incredible! That midi integration with the controller🔥

      To this day, some of the best drummers I have ever heard...can literally play buckets, pots and pans, and whatever else; and still create something that sounds amazing.
      PVC pipes and flip flops still sound awesome too if you cut the pipes to the correct lengths for perfect notes and chords.
      Sometimes I play the body of an acoustic guitar like a hand drum, and it can sound kinda awesome, especially if mic'd up.

      Thank you @els1f even sometimes after years of listening, you can still discover new grooves you didn't think were there at first
      @py_a_thon send over some of those grooves to me, I'd love to stick em on the black box

    Little bit of envelope attack time on your synth or sample VCAs helps things lean back off the grid in a strict 16th quantised situation.

    • @AnalogKitchen
      @AnalogKitchen  6 місяців тому

      And adds another element of control too! A slightly more natural sounding groove as envelopes feel more authentic imho! Thanks for your comment!

    Great video thanks. Good to see you use the DFAM. Have you looked into getting the DFAM thing yet ( or some other companion module that enables MIDI control, reset etc)? It adds a lot of additional functionality to the DFAM 👍

      @@AnalogKitchen I’ve been thinking of a DFAM since watching the vid.
      I’m thinking of selling some of the stuff I own already and replacing with one now.
      The way it works and sounds just seems so Techno! ;)
