OAWWWW
There's a passion and a magic in the classic Ghibli films that will likely never be captured by any other media ever again.
Castle In the Sky has always held such a special place in my heart; and I have always adored the soundtrack of the English Theatrical Release. Thank you so much for uploading this!
Same especially that I got to see it in theaters last year whole other experience meant the world
The original is the Best, has most direction by japanese directors
My grandma uses to have this Dvd at her house and we would watch it almost everyday when she picked us up from school! She also gave us Mac and chez and gummies.. My fav movie
Yup
I'm 30 years old. This is my childhood right here 🥺🥺🥺
Im 32 and same, thats my childhood right there
@@karthics4692 same and im 21
32, feel ya 100%. Watching these movies and listening to their soundtracks makes me think the world isn't as rotten as it seems. Nostalgia pure. I honestly believe people who kvked this as kids and also now are good people. So it seems not woke 😅
@@karthics4692 32 yo old too. This is my childhood so much. In my country, where nobody speaks Japanese or even English much, I learned English (and other languages) from TV, later when internet came to my country (mostly around 2003), I really started to watch Anime. Even today and I hope I will till death. Shame I never had friends or girlfriends who like it 😔 Anyway, ghibli in particular is this thing that seems so forgotten by the world. It's sad. If I ever have kids this will be mandatory 😅
There are some Anime movies and series that give off very similar vibes to ghibli, tho never the music or art style. Miyazaki in particular is very missed.
Fun fact: This is not the soundtrack heard in the original Japanese release. The Japanese version is much shorter (39 minutes) and is heavier on the 80s synthesizers. When Disney produced the English dub, they actually had Hisaishi compose a new score to appeal to a Western audience, including 90 minutes of fully symphonic music. Hisaishi has said that the rescore is a bit simplistic for his liking, but that he learned a lot. And while it runs counter to his preference for immersive, quiet scenes, Miyazaki himself reportedly liked the new score.
He did.
Did not know this! Thanks for the trivia!
I can't watch the english version because of the sountrack. French version retained the original one and that's how I first watched it. But to work and write ? I always come bac to the US version. It's sooo soothign and complete.
That's interesting, given that his compositions for later Ghibli films lean quite heavily on the same symphonic, high-drama approach (Mononoke, Hauru...). Maybe it started out as an exigency but ended up inspiring him?
@@Isewein Yes, it seems like he got a balance between the styles.
Maybe more budget helped ? I always adore each of his movie's soundtracks.
Brings back memories of when my father was still alive, I sat and watched this movie with him several times. Thank you for uploading :)
that is a nice way of celebrating your father memory🙏 our loved ones continues to live with us through those kind of simple moments 💚
Oh my God same ♡♡
My father gifted me this movie as a child. We used to watch it together and wonder. He's been gone for 17 years now. Needless to say this is my favorite movie.
I used to watch this movie over and over again back in 2012 - 2018.
this was the reason why I fell in love with creation, art, painting, drawing, building masks, designing large contraptions, making my own toys and mannequins, studied anatomy and psychology, and only recently started writing my stories I had in my head for years.
Every time I listen to its soundtrack, I can remember bits of it more clearly than my own memories of being a person. It took priority in my mind. (I have memory issues)
It made me a heavily curious teen and i hope to create something that has not only shaped me but also in a sense created me.
I absolutely love how complicated this music gets at times and how well composed it is
Four things that Japan has assimilated very well into their culture post-WWII; manufacturing, baseball, animation, and classical music.
@@HuntingTarg sad they had to face the past they did but glad to see their culture prosper
@@HuntingTarg they already had assimilated manufacturing before WW2 but yes
To those who are reading this message, if you are having a hard time, remember that you are not alone and never give up. Wishing you health, success, love and happiness! ❤❤
Thank you
Thank you ❤❤
Why on this vid though lol
Pazu’s fanfare is something else man it’s just soo good
Pazu's fanfare was played on the trumpet to signal mealtime at my old camp. I haven't been there for years. But I distinctly remember loving it being played because it brought back so many memories.
I just watched this movie for the second time after watching it as a little kid when I had no idea what was going on. What a beautiful, haunting film
Same for me, when I was a kid, the movie felt too complex and a bit long - I grew up a bit and now I'm glad I've kind of always known it. It somehow shaped my mind.
aah I just wanna live in a small cottage, grow fruits and veggies on a farm, and listen to this Studio Ghibli playlist while my cats are busy playing around the field
beautiful dream
Calm down Thanos
I'm 21 this is a childhood favorite I rediscovered back at the start of quarantine. since then I've rewatched several of the other studio ghibli movies i hadn't seen since I was 7, true bliss
Underrated film, love how it brought myth to life so well.
too true
Honestly as much as my favorites movies from Myazaki might be My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away (or even Nausicäa of the valley of the wind), Castle in the sky has Hisaishi's best score. A lot of the compositions stay in your mind in this movie, and it's not only piano (the robot theme and Pazu's fanfare are awesome. Main theme is beautiful too ofc).
Castle In The Sky was my favorite Ghibli film when I was a child. I'm now an engineer in robotics, I wonder where this comes from :P
The first anime I ever watched, absolutely beautiful…
This is the first Miyazaki san’s anime that I watched since I was a kid, and I fell in love with it immediately❤ Even now it continues to inspire me with its beautiful music by J. Hisaishi and the wonderful story created by Mr. Miyazaki. Thank you~~ 🫶
I remember my dad sent me this film when I was 5, in japanese. He was working in Japan back in these days. It became my favourite film ever since.
❤謝謝您,讓我曉得原來是我的……
We lived in Northern Japan, Aomori Prefecture 1991-1994, 1997-2002, 2009-2012. Home of my heart. We were fortunate to watch these movies, animals, popular music before they were even known in US. I love to watch them in Japanese with English subtitles bcz the Japanese language and vocalizations give a deeper meaning to it.
My Favourite Ghibli Film! So Happy I Found This🥰
Ich liebe den Film schon und jetzt kann ich jederzeit wieder die Musik hören.
Ich liebe es 😍🥰🥰🥰🥰☺️☺️👍👍👍
I know this movie has two different soundtracks but this one will always be my favorite of the two. Some of the tracks they rewrote feel more magical and whimsical. This will forever be my favorite Ghibli movie ❤
ジブリの音楽は言葉を超えて感情を伝えてくれるような気がします。心に寄り添ってくれるようで嬉しいです。
So many memories of watching this. Pazu was one of my favorite characters as a kid. Hes so courageous.
This soundtrack haunts me and I cry as soon as the main theme plays. Though I love it dearly, Castle in the Sky evokes such melancholy in me I really can't watch as often as I'd like. But rather, think of it nostalgically from time to time- I guess today is one of those days~
It's one of those movies you can step back to look at the whole thing and say "Yup, they didn't do anything wrong"
You know the music's good... when you literally imagine parts of the movie through the music alone.
Whenever I hear something nolstagic I get this “tingling” sensation all over my upper body. The Girl Who Fell From the Sky gives me the second most intense, only rivaled by The Imperial March.
This movie is the only reason I'm not afraid of heights
This is so beautiful!! One of my favorite ghibli movies :D Thank you so much @Matth Sanju
you are welcome !
@Della Konicek and why should you do that bruh stop these stupid ads
i know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Wells Hayden instablaster :)
@Trace Elias i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
21 years old and this movie was my childhood, tho I hate how the newest English versions of this movie have missing dialogue, small chatter but those small moments add so much more depth to the characters
This was the first real anime movie I watched. The Disney dub and the redone soundtrack go together perfectly.
Very pleasing to hear you say that. Disney's dub has had its share of detractors, but it also has its fans, and I'm glad to see that continuing.
I watched the new English release of Castle in the Sky recently and as much as I appreciated the original soundtrack, I really missed this version. I watched this movie so much as a kid and this version of the soundtrack has so much nostalgia!
such a nostalgic soundtrack..... Brings back so many memories when I used to sit on the couch rewatching it...
10:27 absolutely perfect, mesmerizing, incredible music.
Makes automatically our mind and spirit wander.
we look up at the sky, in the countryside, caressed by a little dash of wind in the hot summer afternoon, and there is this big white cloud. The one.
The Eternal Tree of Life, along with the scene it plays in, where Pazu and Sheeta explore Laputa is so atmospheric! I absolutely love it!
Did anyone else noticed that Laputa castle was, in fact, part of the world of Nausicaa?
i have listened to this for atleast
500 times now

There really are castles in our sky.
Absolute masterpiece with "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (the enchanted city)".
This is my favorite movie of all time. Thank you for this
This is one of the greatest movies of all time
Thank you very much. I have been looking for these tracks for a long time. When i searched on youtube, the result i received was just a bunch of "ambient","relaxing piano","BGM" trash. I had to scroll down more to find what i want and then i FOUND you.❤
I just remembered how much I loved this movie as a kid and came looking for its atmospheric music, the video is more recent than I thought it would be :D thank you for this!
this is the greatest of all time , i will never forget that when i first watched laputa
This is my favorite ghibli film.
THANK YOU FOR THIS REMASTERED VERSION!!!!!!
Most peaceful and beautiful song
I have and will always love this movie so much with my heart. A true masterpiece that is perfect as it is nothing else both Hayao Miyazaki and Joe Hisaishi created along with the others. Thank you for uploading this!
dude im not crying... you are
This music brings tears to my eyes. I start to remember my childhood when I watched Ghibli films. Each and every one of them has its own magic, great meaning. And the music especially. These melodies just make my heart perk up. Great films. ❤
Castle in the sky is so dear to me, I love it so muchhhh
Grazie per queste parole di conforto....ne abbiamo bisogno in questo periodo di tante guerre nel mondo...che ci fanno vivere nell' angoscia....😢
This is so beautiful
Just wonderful
i was 9 years old when i heard the music from Ghibli. I love it so much, the music, this movie, all Ghibli movies!
Literally everything about that beautiful timeless classical masterpiece just always reminds me of Final Fantasy a few years later, especially the soundtrack and the sound effects which often remind me of FFX/X-2 12 years later

Does anyone feel a type of calm energy when they listen to this soundtrack or is it just me?
It always makes me cry... ♡Very beautiful
Now i see where Mojang got the iron golems from
Песня "stones glowing in the darkness" словно олицетворяет скопления сверкающих камушек в темноте. То же самое можно сказать и про каждую песню. Так хорошо они написаны!
Maybe all of us have a castle in the sky from the past that we're looking for....
The sountrack is somehow very different than the one we have in Europe, I'm pretty sure this one's fully orchestral and even has more details and movements to it. I'm a bit jealous haha
When did he perform this ? In where in Paris ?
@@cryt9108 he didn't - as I've learned, this is the US version of the sountracl. The Japanese version retained a very short (30/40 minutes long) soutrack, leaving lots of scene in a very silent, meditation ambiance Miyazaki often gives. But for the US version, Joe Hisaishi was told to compose an orchestral version, to add much more because people felt the US public wouldn't react as well as the Japenese one with silent moments. The Japenese version is much more synth-heavy too !
Came from “PoDD Kana's Theme: Vanishing Dream ~ Lost Dream" :)
The main theme is pretty good and definitely sounds like it
Oh I got what I looking for~~
Hi great composer , thank you
Thanks.
WTTTTT FFFFFF is this
MASSTERPIECEST
mi heart...
SO NOSTALGIC
I've yet to see this but saw the soundtrack performed by an orchestra on vinyl and had to check it out. I was drawn in within the first few seconds so like it so far. Real time update: The album in question only has eight songs so that's a hard pass.
Thanks for a great listening experience, nonetheless.
Gracias
Wow... My best friend, Made an excellent video. I really liked it. Beauty is extraordinary. Thank you very much for the video.
Thank you for uploading this! And just a heads-up that there isn't a timestamp for "The Invasion of Goliath"
thanks i will correct that asap!
Done!
Castle in the sky will always have a place in my heart bec my youngest son used to sing this as a little boy and it stayed w me since, but he is not.. he’s changed as he grew to be an adult😢
Been looking for song #18 n finally found it 🥲🥲🥲
Dudes I should warn you that I'm afraid of height😞 the Castle in the sky above the ocean in the sky
I suppose it's my favourite movie ever. It gave me love to the sky
laputa, que buen tema
The background music when they approach the Dragon lair is missing and I couldn't find it all. It goes like,, tana-nana-tana-nana....
Sadly, taking out the best track in the OST kinda kills it. Thank you for the rest though.
Edit:
This comment was previously about not liking the other version of the soundtrack and while I think this one sounds better that doesn't mean it fits the movie. It's beautiful on it's own but it makes the tone of certain scenes different in unnecessary and bad ways and needlessly fills in silent moments with music.
That was actually how the original Japanese score was done, believe it or not. They used electronics back then.
@@Turnajon I ended up figuring that out later, also my opinion has actually changed a lot on this btw. I think that both soundtracks have good moments and it would be awesome if both were combined for the best possible viewing experience.
@@Turnajon I know its the rescored I figured this out a long time ago. Also I already replied to your other reply about this.
@@augustthenuz984 Oops. Sorry.

Joe pls perform this in full set in the concert again pls. you have done princess Mononoke and spirit away already and I’m still waiting for this piece to perform in live
This film has a great message that I didn't understand as a child. I thought Mushka was entitled to the legacy of his ancestors. Watching it as an adult I can see his true motivation is greed, and the belief he's superior to the groundlings and therefore has the right to terrorize them. He's a capitalist who puppeteers a state/army that isn't his own, to get what he wants, then stabs them in the back afterwards. Sheeta is also a Laputian, but she's integrated with the groundlings and is just trying to live in peace, and form a connection with the land/Earth. It wouldn't matter whether Laputia was Mushka's birth rite because of his special ancestry or not, he wanted its power because he saw himself as different and better than others. Just because your ancestors had something doesn't give you the right to use it to hurt others in the present. That Laputa also doubles as a metaphor for how nuclear bombs can be used to hold the world hostage is also brilliant and spot on. Johnathan Swift would have been proud of this adaptation of his work.
Thank you for making this video!! Could you do the same USA soundtrack with the other Ghibli movies too? Its so nostalgic and it would be great to have that with the other films as well! :)
Hello! Tbh i wasnt expecting so much views on this video. I would be glad to upload other ghibli soundtracks (it was orignally planned) but it could make the channel in danger because of copyright infrigement. Ill see what i can do
@@kaerustation Thank you for trying! Its no problem if you cant do it.

The picture is actually from the Ghibli Lupin III movie
The Castle of Cagliostro
One little musical carousel is leading me down an entire rabbit hole.
It's very obvious that Final Fantasy was cleary inspired by this movie...the music sounds like a FF game even...
もう、完全にありがたいでください。
There's a little left and I'll finish studying
Just curious, wasn't the USA soundtrack produced by Disney? For their international release copies? I could swear there was a more synth bases OST from japan before this one. No hate! Happily enjoying this while working :) and thank you for uploading!
I dont think so, you can see all the credits right here ("Studio Ghibli Records", "Composed/Arranged/Produced by Joe Hisaishi") : www.discogs.com/fr/release/642605-Joe-Hisaishi-Castle-In-The-Sky-Original-USA-Soundtrack.
Where do you got this rumor about disney producing this soundtrack? just curious. Anyway thanks for showing your appreciation for the upload, you are welcome :)
@@kaerustation They wrote an article about it, where joe describes rescoring the original sountrack to fit non-japanese audiences
@@iniglowee do you have a link to that? I'd love to read it
😳驚訝surprise !
對啊!怎麼還是吉卜力出品???!!!
真是讓人震驚的發現,得好好考証
@@kaerustation This video is the re orchestrated USA version asked for by Disney but composed and supervised by Hisaishi.
The original Japanese one is on a much smaller budget, has like 30 minutes of music, with small orchestras and a lot of synth music for budget reasons.
The US one is with a full symphonic orchestra, and much more music that filled moments in movies that were otherwise silent in the japanese version.
Sempre me aparece esse álbum, sendo que nem nunca dei um Like em nenhum vídeo nem fiz busca
theres a track im trying to find where they are in the storm in the english version i cant seem to find it anywhere
Is this Deja vu? I recently finished the movie but when I started to hear Prologue and Pazu's fanfare I think I already knew it a long time ago...
