Fun fact Jim Hedrick hatchery manager of West Virginia actually came up with the idea the first year he wanted to stock every place with just golds once but the Tourism and The DNR wanted it to become a family oriented event now it’s a crown jewel fishing event in the eastern United States
Im headed up in the morning to camp and fish the williams river for these beauitful gold trout. Ive caught a gold trout from spruce knob lake befoe but this is my first time fishing a river/stream for trout so im very very excited
@@TeamPautzke I haven't personally seen how they do it, but they tag some of the goldens with codes that you can enter for prizes like lifetime WV fishing licenses, state park gift cards, and nights in state lodges!

In California,those are known as Lightning Trout. Not Golden. That's by far the Biggest one I've ever seen
