What a combination of athleticism & artistry! Because we fondly speak of Tai & Randy you know they were one of the best during their era. Just pure magic.
Although their throws were not very high or far, the slow part of their program was beautiful. The spread eagle they did together was just wonderful. You won't see something like that in today's pair skating. Tai also had beautiful air positions and she looked so beautiful. It is a shame that when I first think of them what I remember was the fact that they had to drop out of the 1980 Olympics due to Randy's groin injury. After this skate I remember what exciting and elegant pair skaters they were.
I have always loved them. Their basic elegance and great posture are amazing. It is incredible to me that there was only a 5 inch difference in height and 25 pound difference in weight with Randy 5 foot 9 145 pounds and Tai 5 foot 4 and 120 pounds. They had a mutual strength on the ice.
Watching the pull Arabians shows the tremendous strength Tai had! She was the essence of strength and grace. Nobody in pairs skating does the pull Arabians these days. Just magnificent! 💕
This is so awesome. Although the jumps may be harder now and the scoring different, your special connection remains unique on the ice. Thank you for so many thrills in front of tv!
I really think it was very effective the way they re-organized some of their elements for the Worlds. The revised version was significantly more effectrive in highlighting their strengths.

I adored them and I just love the smile on Tai's lovely face.

Simpatico !
their artistry, line and flow is something pair skaters can still aspire to 30 plus years later....
Tiffany Chin, who was also coached by John Nicks, used some of the same music that Tai and Randy did in her short and long programs in the 1980s.
I didnt recognize too many changes, all I saw were the omission of the axels
