The old fashioned way was to use a tractor with a sickle bar, or use a flymo. My favorite mower of all time is the Hustler 6400.

That hustler looks pretty sweet. You definitely need something good on slope around a pond!

@@IndyFarmLife If you can find one you can mow 30 degree slopes with ease. The cab tilts and the 6 wheels make it less likely to get stuck.

There is a 4th option. Excavator with a flail mulcher. Why spend
20,000 on a mower for your pond when you could spend 70,000 🙃
