Kenneth Senstad yes actually it doesn’t hurt
For the kids here say they have and it didn’t hurt... I am so confused
Pitted. So pitted

Shaggy Rogers
Gavin Crowley thank you
thx
I love people like you who tell everyone when the reason of us watching the video happens
Gavin Crowley I
"As it happened."
Pretty hard to film it after the fact.
Say it with a Seder accent and it changes how you view it.
Those are insane waves.
1:45 is the part where the jetski almost hits the guy
If you want to see more of action at the place, check out our film library. We made a few doco on Tahiti, and the latest one is ENCODED the movie visit encodedthemovie.com // thanks for watching and supporting independent surf film making
thx
Remind me of when I jet skied off Niagra Falls. What a ride!
Nathan Abolade Are you calling me a liar? I'll take your bong away.
Nathan Abolade Rolling papers?
Nathan Abolade You didn't finish your sentence - just use your bong it's safer.
Edward Elliot You funny!
Nicola Figini But looks aren't everything!
I could watch this all day
There's such a drastic difference between where one wave begins to crash and a larger wave begins to crash. I understand the physics and all that but it's absolutely nuts the massive distance really is.
Those jet skis are HEAVY. Almost guaranteed he would've died or been paralyzed for life, if that lands on his head/neck/back.
It's amazing how far water safety is come since then and paddling surfing.
Those waves looked incredibly intense and dangerous.
When the guy was more further in it would have been as shallow as 5 inches
Yes, with the sharpest fire coral in the world that’s under an internet known surf spot. So damn beautiful
I didn't realize this place was so overcrowded.
Wow. Never saw this. Close one. Holy shit, that was a big, beautiful, heavy wave.
0:49 yo thats playing with the devil haha smart move by that dude
That dude even see the ski coming down on him? I'd be trippin. Damn I miss the ocean so much, those barrels are sweet.
WOW!!!! Sketch!! Good thing no one was hurt! Sweet video!
NIce bail off the ski that could of gone alot worse.
Did the jet ski survive?
+Dunnoahhha odds are no
He did
No, I’d say the jetski was killedb
lol why wouldnt the jet ski survive ? They are built to be very durable and if its turned off ... wont take on any water into the engine. Lots of guys submarine their jets ... not good for it but if youre rebuilding it every summer ... no worries haha.
The hull was fine since it looks like water impact only. Plus when he jumped off the engine turned off.
@@oneeyedrone4293 water damage probably ensued after the 6mtr drop onto the reef followed by a tonne of water. Just a theory.
I have always wondered if a jet ski ever got caught on one of those big waves.
Quit lying.
You've wondered other things as well.
@@ThisHandleFeatureIsStupidSorry for the late comment, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Productions? Nice camera work and editing dude.
I spoke to Dylan about this incident.. Reef was driving the ski for Raimana, the late Andy Irons was towed in on the next wave, the Dyl was on the following wave and was towed in by the late Brock Little. Yes, a very fucking famous day for surfing indeed.
Wave: I am the barrel
Jetski: Let me think about that
Wow! Great footage. That was a close call...
I don't get why Raimana let Reef drive? Raimana is meant to be all about safety and wont let anyone surf Teahupoo who hasn't proved themselves. But he let a guy who has never towed guys into a wave to drive him? Reef told him he didn't know what he was doing and both them almost got badly hurt or worse.
beautiful video
That’s a crazy setup how the waves break in the same spot and they’re that big. Just have boats chilling right beside it lol. N that was a close call with the jet ski 😮
how long would it take to learn to surf those waves! awsome!
@ 1:45
I'm not a surfer but am curious about something, how long on average would you say you'd have to hold your breath underwater to survive falling in one of these huge waves?
20-30 seconds
@@OBFDFireGroundFilms nonono, about 1-3 minutes depending on the size and where on the wave you wipeout.
@@thatonegrom9847 surely not that long waves dont go for that long normally
@@sender231 yeah, but maybe a little more than 30 seconds.
@@sender231 unless you are at a big wave spot
1:44 Skip to the good part...
4 minutes I'll never get back
Ummmm.... you didn't even have to go half way in to see the wreck...that's on you.
It's an infamous surfing mishap, Michael. Worth watching. And maybe a valuable lesson for some surfers/watermen.
two minutes then....
this was awesome dude wtf is wrong with u
@@yasharmj1717 obviously not a surfer or Waterman
That was HEAVY!
pretty sure thats reef McIntosh driving the ski. ive met him a couple times on oahu all i can say is he's a very down to earth soft spoken guy very friendly and approachable. super humble to just a good guy. knows and shows everyone aloha
Great film.
Dude!! I was sore for like a week!!
That is what I call a near miss, or hit. Dude's blessed it didn't go bad. But hey the surf was piping sweet!
I've known about Teahupo'o since 2002 and every time I watch footage of it I always find myself saying "Oh my god..." just because that kind of shit just ain't right man.
🎯
Damn those waves tho just damn
That jet ski driver was trying to get the best view haha
Stuff like this takes balls of steel to do. Seriously.
Un freakin real he duct it 1:46-1:49 or his head was coming off ! way to to keep your head in crazy situation !!!
beautifull
LMAO Man this had me in tears man, the dude just kept on surfing with a jet ski right above him Nutttssss!
Awesome sauce
1:49
Cool footage
Can anybody with good surfing experience tell me how dangerous is riding such big waves? And what do they once they caught in the tunnel / wave?
Well, if you haven't drowned yourself yet, I can fill you in. Big wave surfing can kill you. Even extremely fit, talented, experienced surfers & watermen have paddled out & never come back in. Add to that the size, speed, & wave, the bottom, depth the wave is breaking in, risk of sharks at some breaks, and crowds of inexperienced surfers (kooks) & it gets even more dangerous.
There are many safety tools available today & that didn't exist when I learned in the 70's. There are helmets, pads, co2 cartridge life vests, jet ski's, wetsuits - plus gloves, hoods & booties. But just because you have all that, it doesn't mean nothing can happen to you.
Paddling into waves & being towed into them are two completely different ways of riding the wave & even different size boards are used. Towing in just gives you more speed and places you onto the wave in spots without having to paddle for it and stand up.
I suggest learning to surf, at a sand bottom beach break, that isn't crowded at first. After you're comfortable going out, by yourself, and getting in safely you can try larger & larger waves. You will wipeout while learning, and that's an important part of the process. If you aren't laughing after a good wipeout, you are in over your head.
Tube riding is only one part of surfing. Changing your foot placement & weight distribution makes you go faster/slower and turn left & right. Every wave breaks differently, so you need to be able to estimate what the wave is about to do, while standing and riding. You choose a "line" that gets you safely to the end of the wave but you must adjust as the wave changes.
And even if you get all that down, and have a ton of experience, the best board, local knowledge, a great crew of friends out with you and you do everything right........well, sometimes Mother Nature reminds you she's in charge & wipes you out.
I wanted to surf since I was a little kid, At 16, I bought my first board & the first day I wiped out & caught 16 stitches in my face & eyelid. I asked the Doc, "When can I go back in the ocean??" I don't want to scare you away from surfing, I love it more than almost anything. It's a lifestyle, not just a sport. If you have access to the ocean, see if there is anyone there that can teach you how. A surf school, or lessons maybe. But leave the tow-in Tasmanian sickness to those with a little more experience. Most of all respect the ocean, beach, & your fellow surfers & you will have more fun.
Dude, the guy ducked the jet ski and still made the wave. Who was that?
Raimana Van Bastolaer, he's local to Teahupoo. That duck was fucking insane
Those are some monster 🌊 waves
Oh I so want to go there
Is this at Teahupoo?
Yes, it's in the description.
1:47 I don't belong in this video moment begins here
Wow that was close!
that's crazy. That ski was so close to hitting that guy surfing. Amazing!
Oh my Goooooood!
Jesus Christ he dodged it and made the barrel hdhasjhsdhgjsgff i could never oml
Looks like some Tubular action.
Pitted sooo pitted

Forrest Deardorff i
Forrest Deardorff thx
The real problem is not the near miss that is so spectacular (I mean that is a problem too)... but rather the surfer that collided with the jet ski a little while later...
Who produced that video???
The jet ski wanted in on the action
billabong boat was clean
Which place is this??
teahupoo,tahiti
Dang you guys are crazy!
Where in the world is this?
How big are these waves
pretty heavy stuff.
yup crazy...
Where is this?
Is the jet ski now a part of the reef? Nobody seemed to give a rip where that thing went.
"How the fuck did that happen?!" Um yeah, big wow, someone fell off a jet-ski in a fundamentally unstable situation. Very surprising how something *so outlandish* as that could happen. Surfers ≠ superhumans, believe it or not...
The person jumped off because it was going over the edge and he wouldda got fucked up if he held on
That was reef macintosh driving the ski. He said in an interview that he watched too long. He fucked up. Raimana and him r ok
Those waves though
That was Reef MacIntosh on the ski, hell of a surfer, but at the time of this session, hadn't had a lot of time in the seat...
Is this a Tony Bonython production?
Those Barrels are massive heavy and one wrong move and your gone
Looks like where they filmed Jurassic Park...
insane
Achievement unlocked :raimana did something wrong
Holy crapomoly .
From the people who brought you "Lawnmower Racing from the Dog Park."
acidents happen. you can see at the last minute he tried to hold on and steer it over the wave. he jumped at the very last second, so it wasnt that he just dumped it. the surfer did a good job a paying attention!
I'd passed by this video for the last couple of weeks assuring myself that clicking would be a mistake. So against my better judgement, I clicked. Not to say I told myself so but, I told myself so.
It isn't clickbait? 1:47
Big wave pullers have the the second biggest balls. Only outdone by big wave riders.
2:18 that voice crack tho
Interesting, are they found that loose jetski or poor thing is on the bottom of ocean since then?
+KrotowX The "bottom of ocean" is few inches below.
+Garry Iglesias My apologies, never been in that place. I hope that they was able to get out that jetski in one piece.
Master oogwa: there are no accidents
I was hoping to see that incident in a slow motion
You can do that with the settings icon.
Holly Shit that was close epic surfing those guys are so brave I applaud your achievements. Must feel so good to get blasted out of that
very close
That wall turned into a lip quick
Who was driving the ski?
i think it was reef mcintosh
shiit thas heavy!
At 1:50 you can see the jet ski rider in the middle of the wave going straight to the bottom, luckily he was wearing a life jacket otherwise he would have found him self as artificial reef
1:45 for the good stuff
Apparently Tahiti is mystical
Holy chit!!!!💥😎
