I walked the dogs past there yesterday and this was outside so I think it had just come in. Had a look around it and it is absolute perfection and a stunning looking car.
DEREK! There's a fact even YOU didn't know! When Jean Daninos became head of Facel Vega, they had been doing bodies for BENTLEY. He thought , rightly, they should be making their OWN cars, so he styled these himself! Genius, or what!
Stirling Moss was a big fan of these cars for their road manners and handling.
I really miss their tv show. I was addicted to it for some years.
What beautiful cars they made then, talented creative designers. Now, probably due to restrictive legislation, all that manufacturers can come up with are more generic, and ever larger, SUVs.
When us older folk say that things were better in the 60s and 70s, well here's some evidence.
It's unreal what comes in here. Was not expecting that.
Please cameraman video the car not Derek, its the car we want to see
Saw a few of these some years ago at a classic car show in Brighton. Apparently the club had been invited over for the show and quite a few of them made the trip.
Special car. The lad only managed to get the word 'lovely' into the review once, 'lovely dashboard' .....but nonetheless he managed to shoehorn it in. Nice work!
Now that is a bit special!
It’s just beautiful in the flesh - what a classy, tasteful car.
The man that started the company designed the car
Derek was honest enough - unusually - to admit he knows nothing about these beautiful, yet flawed, cars. For a brief but more informative review it’s worth looking-up Quentin Wilson driving a HK500. Not sure this is where, had I been the owner, I’d have chosen to sell something like this. Horses for courses.
Designer was Jean Daninos -- Chassis Designer Lance Macklin, wiki says so :-)
Sorry prefer an Alvis TE 21 Convertible myself
Strange how the door glass just over laps the rear quarter light without a rubber (there all like it)
A fantastic looking car
What a stunning looking car
A fabulous car .
Facel Vega fact: Dashboard isn't wood, it's painted steel....! Beautiful cars, especially Facel II.
The Facel II sometimes presented as the most beautiful French car of the post-war period. And I'm not far from believing it
Wow one of my cars when I win the euro, I'd want borrani wheels on it though
Very, very nice.
Great car. Deserves to be worth £140,000
Beautiful looking car and an interior to die for but having read road reports on them they do not perform as good as they look. Not so much its 0 to 60 etc but road holding is very poor. One famous person who owned one from new in the 60's was no other than Ringo Star he had an HK500.
Ringo had a Facel II, not an HK500. Saw it at a classic car show a few years back when it was up for sale. The Facel II is the one to have if you can afford one. Anyone who was anyone back in the 60s had one.
Funny how Brit's can't say that name...
Why don't you buy it Derek. I'm sure you can afford it
Drive like a right old camel. Look truly amazing but not a good driver at all.
French car with a yank motor..
