  • This video explain the pile foundation in detail.
There are two main types of foundation, these are the shallow and deep foundation. The depth of foundation decides the type of foundation. In the case of a deep foundation, the depth of foundation is high. Pile foundation is under the category of deep foundation. When the ratio of depth to breadth is greater than 3, then it fulfills the criteria of pile foundation. The material used in pile can be concrete, steel, wood. The pile foundation used to support the superstructure load and transfer by either end bearing or skin friction phenomenon. There are some reasons due to which pile foundation is necessary to construct, some of them are stated below:
    1. Top soil has poor bearing capacity.
    2. When the groundwater table is high.
    3. Heavy and non-uniform loads from structure.
    4. Other types of foundations are not feasible.
    5. When there is canal or deep drainage system near the structure.
    6. When there is a possibility of scouring.

Hello sir your way of teaching is Excellent. I learn too many thing from you and you make me a real civil engineer. I make notes with the help of your videos and then I show my friends I WhatsApp my friends these notes they became happy and they respect me. Sar in one video you told us that There are 3 Types of Piles. End bearing piles friction piles and end bearing come friction piles. But in this video you show only two types of Piles End bearing piles and second friction files not third one. Why Sir

#Deepak Yes you are right. There are three types, but these two are the mostly used types of pile, that's why I mentioned only these two.
