It was great writing with Delbert that day...he had this Morris Minor that was bad ass! And this band is kick ass! Jim Horn produced the record and I did get to play the session...great days!!!

Me too! I lived in Austin in the early eighties and went to concerts where Delbert and Stevie Ray was performing. Got hooked on his R&B sound. I have several of his albums. I am a huge fan.
Delbert still smokin after 60? years. He's always got playtime on my iPod.

How come I have never heard of this man during my so far 66 years on this earth? Holy cow man I am sure glad I did not die before I found him. He is just plain cool and that group of people playing with him gotta be among the best ever.

I know right?! First heard Delbert at the Willie Nelson Fourth of July Picnic in Dripping Springs, Texas in the 70s.
If you ever lived in Texas like me, you couldn't help but hear him.
First time I saw Delbert was in Macon Ga. in the 60's at Central City Park. There was an all day show featuring The Allman Bros. I knew then he would be a favorite of mine.
I love the keyboard man's method of height adjustment!

On one of the cruises I went on, Kevin, the keyboard player, played with so many different bands, he ended up with bandages on his fingers from blisters. Never slowed him down a minute- he'd just wrap more bandages on those piano playing fingers! He is awesome!

42 yrs.ago just had to see this East TX real deal when a local radio station brought him out to Santa Cruz CA.He taught John Lennon how to play harp in 1962 was the buzz.Then he mentioned local girl Emmy Lou Harris was doing his 2 more Bottles of Wine up the charts.One of my all time faves!

She plays sax like Bobby Keys did for the Stones. Fantastic!
I saw them January, 2020, and that is literally what I told her, that the Stones should have added her when Bobby died. But Delbert has her wrapped up! You are right on the money, she is a great player.
Opened for him at the palace in Waterbury Ct 11/13/18 and at the Xfinity Ballroom in Hartford Ct Last August. Our band Jam Factory isn't famous but he treated us so well! Great gut and a legend!

Huge Delbert fan. My only regret was to never see him with the Soul Sisters he employed on his recordings. That said, nobody rocks it like Delbert.
Was fortunate to work a small nightclub in Lubbock TX in the 70's and the owner brought in Delbert and Joe Ely together!!! it was awesome.

I think he retired after his 2nd heart attack about 2 years ago.I was so glad he won that Grammy in 2020.Been a fan since79.
