  • Hey guys! Todays I'm trying to make more cups at home for my small business! After a very disappointing and quiet start to the holiday season I decided to focus on growing my small online shop in other ways and decided to use this time to sublimate my first glass tumblers and skinny tumblers!

I think the frosted ones with white designs would be cool too bc they'd look normal when empty but have these pretty snowflakes appear when a colored drink goes in it. You might want to check if that happeens with the ones you have. If they do then it'd be a good point to market them on. Just like those magic cups from childhood that'd look plain but have images appear when a hot liquid is poured in it. They were quite popular, I don't see why your frosted tumblers won't sell. ❤

Hi. I've watched you for a while but haven't commented before. I do sublimation on all the things. It's addicting. I'm not finished with the video, yet, but I do my tumblers and glass libby cups for 75 sec at 380°. I rotate it 4 times. So a quarter turn each time. I also tape the top and bottom of the design if the background is colored for more of a finished look. Also i wrap whatever I'm pressing in printer paper, butcher paper or parchment paper. So if the design comes through the sublimation paper or won't leave any ink on your actual tumbler press and cause it to mess up another design. It comes out perfect! So good luck to your adventures. Your designs are amazing!! ❤

I have started yet, I have 3 boxes of skinny tumbler but my goal was to temporarily tape down one side of my design, wrap over the next (with a bleed line) then mark exacly where the paper touch, cut it then line the paper perfectly. I think it's fine if there's a section with just colour as long as it flows naturally.
I watched this video with my daughter last night and explained that my favorite part of your videos was your genuine excitement for everything. I often need that reminder. I was lucky to receive an inheritance in May and build my studio, I was SO excited. Then her dad said he was moving across the country (I have no family or friends here and we'd been together 19 years) my world crumbled, and the next day, I fell down the stairs out of distraction and overwhelm. My foot isn't healing properly. I find myself often sitting in my studio with equipment I've yet to use, overwhelmed and void of my initial excitement. I was getting ready for my first craft show when he announced I was becoming a single mom, which I canceled and haven't done a craft show yet. So I watch your videos to try to remember that feeling, that innocent joy for all the little things, it fuels so much creativity. So thank you for projecting so much joy and excitement every week even when you hit challenges, you're so happy to have this creative opportunity that you show up excited again the next day. Hopefully, my spark will return. In the meantime, this is my medicine. 😊

I might be imagining this but don't these kind of things always have a slight join line? I'm sure I've seen mass produced cups with the little dark line. Either way if I bought one and it had the line, I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it!

I think you're right ahah! They typically do but I also know making them seamless is possible as I have seen people do it! So I would really like to try and make them seamless if I can but I don't think a slight dark line is the end of the world either! I just want to make them as good as they can possibly be aha!🤭☺

I honestly think those skinny seam lines are totally fine! I definitely see that in mass-made ones too. Love the designs!

I dont know anything about sublimation, but I watched AMY CREATES channel, and she said she has cracked the code on how to make the Tumbler look seamless... 😊
I didn't know you could sublimate on glass . Beautiful work.!

those designs are so cute Abi!!! i used to struggle with the seams line myself, but i use hack that helps get rid of it, before you wrap and tape the tumbler place a piece of heat resistant tape along one edge, that way if you do have some overlap you won't get a bleed through or dark line 😊 i hope that is helpful!!!

they look good- it used to be just illustrator but I think photoshop creates seamless patterns now too. That should make it easier

I'm thinking, maybe you can fade the design on either side and then have them overlap slightly?

I’ve never bought a tumble in a store or from a small business that didn’t have the slight overlap on the seam. You are being way too critical imo. Compare your stuff to the actual standard for the productions, not to your perceived standard of perfection.
