- Jeff Mangum perform a solo rendition of "Two-Headed Boy" at a Neutral Milk Hotel gig. Originally from their 1998 album, "In the Aeroplane over the Sea". Recorded live @ Store Vega in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 7th, 2014.
Two-headed boy
All floating in glass
The sun it has passed, now it's blacker than black
I can hear as you tap on your jar
I am listening to hear where you are
I am listening to hear where you are
Two-headed boy
Put on Sunday shoes
And dance 'round the room to accordion keys
With the needle that sings in your heart
Catching signals that sound in the dark
Catching signals that sound in the dark
We will take off our clothes
And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine
And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside
Now your eyes ain't moving now, they just lay there in their climb
Two-headed boy
With pulleys and weights
Creating a radio play just for two
In the parlor with a moon across her face
And through the music he sweetly displays
Silver speakers that sparkle all day
Made for his lover who's floating
And choking with her hands across her face
And in the dark we will take off our clothes
And they'll be placing fingers through the notches in your spine
And when all is breaking everything that you could keep inside
Now your eyes ain't moving now, they just lay there in their climb
Two-headed boy
There's no reason to grieve
The world that you need is wrapped in gold silver sleeves
Left beneath Christmas trees in the snow
And I will take you and leave you alone
Watching spirals of white softly flow
Over your eyelids and all you did
Will wait until the point when you let go
He's such a great performer
Este chico es un maldito genio, todo el album es una joya. Ibero90.9 siempre con excelente musica.
Thanks Jeff for existing
Most phenomenal and emotional live show ive ever seen
So much soul
Thanks Jeff love you
Wow, thank you.
one beautiful man
Tuned down a whole step, it sounds like. Is that because of his voice?
Probably. Original performance is very screamy and hard to sing live... especially if you have to perform for over an hour. But it wasnt bad anyway...
Well, actually it seems to me he plays the song in G, just as in the original version.
@@vittula5538 nah fam that's in F
@@Wood3narms Really? Unless his guitar isn't with the standard tuning, he's playing the chords of G.
@@Th0tSlAyErIII It's tuned down. Just listen to it.
pt. 1 is my favourite
Used to be my favorite as well until I listed to part 2. Part 2 hits the soul
@@AgentSmith92011 it hits the soul like a needle in your heart
It took me a few listens all the way through too be honest but I actually really love that album.
Amazing
People always claim that the whole album is super easy to play, but to keep up the strumming pace whilst singing throughout the entirety of this song is actually quite difficult
holding those power chords on an acoustic guitar for 4 mins which that strumming pattern AND singing is brutal man
this song is brutal
absolutely not easy. simple, maybe, but the carpal tunnel will haunt my dreams for years to come
I just tried it and I couldn't even get halfway through
The people who say it's easy are fairly experienced guitar players with chops. This is nothing if you've played for a good amount of years. If your hand is hurting your probably holding and the guitar wrong in such a way that requires you to death grip all the chords. Press the guitar against your body with your stum hand more so that the leverage pushes the guitar into your chord hand, instead of putting all the pressure on just one hand gripping the bar chord
Wow.
"I miss the ole Jeff Mangum
Here in with flow Jeff Mangum

I hate the new Jeff Mangum

At that time I'd like to meet Jeff Mangum
See I invented Jeff Mangum
There wasn't any Jeff Mangum

is he just strumming up down up down when he goes fast
yes
from what i hear, he’s mostly only hitting the downstrokes except for accents
no, it's mostly downstrokes with the occasional accented upstroke as @greg said
He's strumming the same speed the whole song, the "fast parts" he's just playing the upstrokes.
damn
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sounds fast but I love it..
Video is slightly sped up to avoid the wrath of youtube copyright. play it on like .9 playback speed
Super optagelse! Uploader du også Pt. 2?
What kind of guitar is that?
its a violin lol
not sure but he only ever used two archtop guitars during live performances. there’s some website called like equiplist or something where you can check.
He plays two arch-tops. The main one that he doesn't play anymore but he played in old NMH was a Gibson ES-125. The one in this video is a Silvertone 619 archtop acoustic.
Grym kvalité! Har du mer?
and they'll be Play♠️Acing fingers through the Not♟Chess in your spine ;)

jay Garcia hahaha
Neutral Milk Hotel is just one guy?
Its a whole band :) this is just a solo acoustic song
@@pumpkin_the_snek okok I'm relieved...
Sounds like hes got better at singing
It does! It doesn’t sound like as much of a strain to hit those high notes anymore. But he’s also playing it in a lower key here.
Chords?
G C D then an a minor near the end of the chorus
G-B-G-B-G-B-C-G-C-D-C-G-C-G-C-D and then that repeats for the whole song i think
Bad as fuck. So good
