Over the last couple days after seeing this talk on UA-cam, something has been gnawing at me to listen. I am thankful I did. This talk brought tears to my eyes. Bob, in my opinion, truly describes the reality and truth of the 11th step. I am beyond words. I am 25 yrs sober and I identify with doing it wrong for over 20 years. I appreciate Bob's honesty in the of sharing his experience. So much hit home for me. Thank you so much!
In my prayers, when I get specific it is in Thanks. I thank HIM, I think HIM some more. I really appreciate thinking about the "Lord's Prayer" in another perspective. I love this speaker. 😁 Viva LV sobriety!
I really enjoy listening to Bob even though im from a different 12 step fellowship. I do however disagree with his opinion on asking God to give me something. Even the serenity prayer is asking God to grant me serenity courage and wisdom. There are many scriptures in christianity which he often quotes from that suggest that we ask god for more than just his will.
We do ask for forgiveness it's straight Big Book. Godly sorrow is very useful to others and myself... Big Book clearly directed us that we ask for ourselves only if others will be helped... such as you indicated in the serenity prayer. "God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen. "
@@tkervinph we trust its working, because as Step 11 says, "it really does".. get your Big Book and we'll demonstrate this, I aim to help if you want...
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ". Colossians 2:8 Jesus said... you must worship in spirit and truth John 4:24 Jesus also said ...."people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. " (Mark 7:6-7)

And how's that working out for you?
