  • This is a video of another passion of mine. This Video is of a walk around, take off, cruise, and landing of a jet. The views are awesome and going 600 mph doesn't suck either. I hope you enjoy the video.

This will always be a DC-9 to me. Always. New engines, new systems, but the heart of the DC-9.

Can you tell me why MD-88/MD-90 pilots can't fly the 717 and vice versa? The 717 has more automated systems, but seems to be the same basic thing. (PS While you're at it can you tell me why 757, 767-300 pilots can switch back and forth and 767-400 cannot? thanks.)

@@TheCannonofMohammed there are difference courses of 20 and 40 hours to transition between models but it is indeed the same basic Type "A6WE" as is the MD-90 which requires even more hours. But Boeing was the first to cal it a common training, not to be confused with a common type rating,as the models were vastly different.

Wish we had gone forward with 717-300, or as we called it MD-95-50. PS. descending into LAX is always like the muck, basically like being under the hood.

He had a perfect landing plus when we left Orlando we had turbulence but the 717 hand l.j e it pretty well after we climbed out of the dirty air storms were brewing from Georgia

I just read on the Airfleets page that this particular plane is stored and will be scrapped soon. This plane has flown for several airlines. Most of the 717s in Delta's fleet are leased from Southwest. I do agree with the comment that the CEO seems to have a thing for Airbus.

Heavens! What’s the deal with that runway on takeoff? It sounded like a railroad! Awesome aircraft and really cool video. Thank you.

The Fo let the nose wheel run over the flush centerline lights during takeoff. You can tell as he rotated the noise when away. No harm to the aircraft, just noisy. Thanks a lot for the like.

Ya! It sounded like a steam locomotive gathering speed! Flew on 717s a few times. Quick acceleration and climb!

they secretly love it, but not PC to say since new CEO wants to be all Scarebuss.

@@gendaminoru3195 I mean even he seems to love the 717?
The A220 will undoubtedly be the new 717 sometime in the future but I doubt Delta would change course on them.

717 will be cheaper to maintain and the cost basis will be less - Boeing cut them a great deal on the 717 from AirTran/Southwest.. I love the airplane since I was involved in design and have lots of simulator time in the airplane and some actual

Genda Minoru oh wow that’s really cool. Fantastic plane just really at the wrong time.
Not sure why but Boeing gives off the impression it wasn’t a plane they cared too much about because it wasn’t their design and they’d rather their heavier and less ideal 737-600 had done better.

@@pinksnowbirdie2938 Had a certain salesman not been bobbing up and down in a fishing boat in the Caribbean when SAS called to place the 100 airplane order, McDonnell Douglas would not have sold out to Boeing in 1997. Just ask Harry Stonecipher [not well liked among Dougloids] There was also interest in an MD-95-50 [aka 717-300] from three large operators. We should convince Delta to buy up all the 717's avail right now. It would save them a lot of money and give them a common fleet type for the short haul to mid-market. Delta turned record profit margins keeping the old DC-9-50s and MD-88s around for years past their competitors, and they bought up all the MD-90s in the world that were usable which help yield the most profitable couple years ever until this virus hit. But this is now the last Douglas play for them to make.
