thanks Edd, appreciate the background I think a lot of reviewers assume us midpackers know our Reacts from our Zoom Xs. Not always convinced the reviewer does either. So appreciate the info, might be an idea for future vlogs i.e. explaining some of the technicalities and development history. Loving the channel
Glad these videos are interesting and useful. I do enjoy making them and exploring the past to further understand the future. Thanks for tuning in Karl! 😊👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
Good review Edd. Had a few pairs of Nike flynit with lunarlon foam midsole. Was good and responsive however I found the longevity was not as great as the later zoom X and react foams. The lunarlon foam was underfoot at the half marathon distance when I ran half marathon PB of 1:18:07 and then 3 months later broke that PB with 1:17:30. Now at 43 years old my sub 80 minute half marathon days may be behind me....... but never say never.
Great vid Ed! I just received a pair of pegasus 37s and will throw them in my weekly rotation starting tomorrow. I have never trained in the Pegasus line of shoes so we will see how they feel. Smashed the like button!
Hey Mike, glad your into the videos. Enjoy those Pegasus 37’s. Poor old brits having to wait for those! 😢 Keep running and thanks for tuning in 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
I respect Nike for their dominance in basketball and running. They are one of the greatest US corporations with worldwide brand power like Coca-Cola. I am a big fan of Steve Prefontaine, their 1st athlete. I love Kipchoge too. Current management has unfortunately politicized and enabled some of the worst aspects of a few of their athletes in the US and I’ve soured on the brand personally for many years. Fortunately, there are so many great shoe options nowadays (as seen here from you Edd) I don’t need to spend my money with Nike. Happy Running to all!
Ed, the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% has a composite plate that's suppose to be softer to add comfort for higher mileage. In the early years Neil Young played in a band fronted by Rick James called the Mynah Birds. The band disbanded when Rick James was arrested by the FBI for being AWOL from the navy. I discovered a band on youtube called Animal Urges. They remind me of a band from Chapel Hill, North Caralina named Flat Duo Jets except their lead singer " Dex" has more hair than the lead singer for Animal Urges. I saw FDJ perform in a record store in Miami Beach Florida. The White Stripes were influenced by them. I ordered the Sketchers Razor 3 Hyper In the new Boston color. Same green color w/gold trim as the Boston Celtics and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Hey there! I am missing playing music week in week out and seeing people dancing and having a blast. It will come back. There’s some early Neil Young stuff on the archives, really interesting instrumentals and pre buffalo Springfield stuff. Listening to that right now! Enjoy those new shoes and thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
I remember the early Lunar shoes, and the marketing of how it was a NASA foam that was 30% lighter than traditional foams and more responsive... did many a run in the Nike Lunar One (something like that) circa 2012-2013
Right move to React foam by Nike. I just loved my trusty Epic React 1 it's midsole still surprises me still with some 'bounce' even after 1,300 km in them.
Lunar lob is the most underrated cushioning ever. The issue is that lunarlon not to be confused with lunar has to sit in a special bed, which is why you lunarlon shoes look the way they do. I’ve triEd react over and over and it doesn’t hold a candle to lunarlon. Can’t speak on zoom x but lunarlon is the nearest cushioning to boost. Boost is the best and lunarlon 2nd
It’s slipping down to the more daily type shoes. Though it’s a shame they can’t come up with some more ecologically friendly midsoles. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Agree with others. The Zoom Fly Flyknit is my favorite training shoe. Still take out the insole and run in a Men's 8.5 instead of 9. You can get pairs on Poshmark for $30? Thirty bucks for React with a CF plate? It's better some $200+ shoes. Looking at you Brooks Hyperion Elite
Hi there, thanks for this nice explanation 👍. I am still running zoom fly first generation for tempo session. I needed something like 150 miles to really appreciate them. Now I love them ! I was wondering if the 3rd version was similar and i can’t even order them as it is difficult to get them in France. I am also looking for long to very long session shoes. I just order a pair of HOKA Clifton 6. i have also Pegasus Turbo 2. I loved the first one but the 2nd edition does not work for me. Too much problem with my toes when i run over an hour. I also want to get a carbon plate shoe but i don’t know where to go, so many of them ! Thanks again for your video and see soon on tour channel. Take care 🙂👍
For me the lunarlon running shoes outlasted the react shoes. Always wondered why Nike discontinued lunarlon. Greendale is my current Neil running listen. It’s like one long song. Lasts about 10 miles
‘Glad you pointed out the bridge between basketball and running shoes... as well as the fact most of these technologies aren’t new. Nike finds new ways to utilize them. Smart. It is odd Nike is praised for putting react in every shoe while adidas is panned for doing the same with BOOST. By the way, I had my second run in the SL20 today. It fits like the Solar Glide, but runs like an adios5. The “stacked” LIGHTSTRIKE is well executed. It’s still light’n’snappy but more forgiving under foot. I couldn’t resist also copping the SL7200 lifestyle shoe. Man, it is minimal... with all LIGHSTRIKE midsole and nylon upper. ‘Glad \\\ is bringing back the heritage models. ✌🏾🖤🏃🏽♂️
Im interested that people seem to be liking the sl20 more than the adios 5 at the moment. Very interesting. I like react but i do not think it works in all their shoes. I wont be touching the miler. It doesn't look good and few good reviews. Thanks for tuning in, it is much appreciated. 👍😊🏃♂️
Yeah... I don’t know from where all the SL20 interest sprang. I grew tired of all the aPro setbacks. I watched some clips from adidas regarding the current range. It was suggested, by adidas staff, the all LS shoes are a direct response to those who don’t like BOOST. They specifically said the SL20 is meant as a possible training companion to the B9 and aPro. The recommended distance 5k-15k. ✌🏾🖤🏃🏽♂️
I preferred Lunar. I still have and run in several pairs of Lunarglides, including a couple of pairs of version 2. I love them. I got several pairs of the Epic React, and I simply am not thrilled with how they feel compared to Lunar.
I had lunarlon in my Nike Free RN and Nike Free Distance. Wasn’t bad, however it wore down really quickly. I have a feeling React is abit heavier though.
Kevin Scott agree on the weight of react... still love the implementation on the turbo 2... but not into the big Swiss cheese slab on the infinity runs and epic reacts
I loved lunarglides until the 7s (I bought 4 pairs of 7s and two pairs of 6s), and then they ruined them with the 8s. Taken me a while to find similar but the infinity runs really are coming into their own now!
Dude Mr hat 👒 to the back one will we have a Nike Trubo 3 this year?? Also on the music side,Do you have hip hop playlist!! Hat to the back!! Lol 😆 lol
@@EDDBUD If I remember correctly, there was actually a video clip of a Nike designer talking about the Zoom Fly having a React core around the time of the release. I don't think it's a typo if the Nike designer said it to the public.
A tremendous album isnt it? Great guitar work on there and a superb pump organ version of like a hurricane! What more can a man want? Thanks for watching, it is much appreciated. Stay safe 😊👍🏃♂️
Hey Ben. GoPro 7 but it’s showing it’s age. No decent stabilisation at 120fps. I use a telescopic pole from insta 360 which is good for defending myself against squirrels too. Thanks for tuning in 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️

Great video Edd, very interesting. The zoomfly Flyknit is my favourite shoe thus far. Very excited for your review on the peg 37 !
You and me both! Taking ages to come, hopefully will have them in hand soon. Stay sage Eric 👍🏃♂️
Very fun and informative knowing how react was implemented
Thanks for tuning in Luis. It’s much appreciated. Stay safe 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️

This video is one month older than my running journey's beginning in life!
Good job Eddie! Keep it up, fun to watch. I am a running shoe maniac like you.

Was cushlon or lunarlon in the zoom fly?
I think you would find it interesting to know that Nike has recently reused lunarlon in the Nike renew run shoe.

Still have and wear the Lunarepic 2. They're at that sweet spot of softness and responsiveness which I hope stays before they bottom out.

About the react core on the zoom fly. Apparently it was a typo on the description of the shoe on Nike website. It is only Lunarlon on the zoom fly.
Oh interesting. A weird typo though. Thanks for commenting. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️

These Nike shoes start to look like basketball shoes :D
The technologies are almost the same now in both shoes. Especially the Lebron 17 and alphafly. Very similar. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Zoomfly Flynit is still one of my all time favorite shoes! It's not as light as the Vaporfly but it's nowhere near as expensive though 👍

Isn’t the foam used in all the Pegasus shoes Cushlon, not Lunarlon? No disrespect, just something I noticed. Love your vids, keep up the good work!
Cushion recently but Lunarlon before. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hi Edd, was just wondering how you get some of your moving video action when out and about running?
Hey Ben. GoPro 7 but it’s showing it’s age. No decent stabilisation at 120fps. I use a telescopic pole from insta 360 which is good for defending myself against squirrels too.
Thanks for tuning in 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Edd, have you any experience of the alleged React foam reacting to cold temperatures? I’ve read reports of it freezing and becoming a slab of rubber.
Hmmm, you have given me an idea!
;)
Mrs Eddbud needs to clear the freezer. :)
EDDBUD I remember reading it on the solereview website when the original Epic React came out (2018) but can’t say I ever noticed it.
Are the Pegasus 36 good for long runs
I see no reason why you can’t do some lower paces long runs in those. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
Hi, In Zoom foam, there are air cavities with vertical fibers or is it just foam everywhere? And what is the difference between zoom and zoomx inside?
There are many types of zoom air.
Some are a pocket, some a unit and some the tensile air similar to the larger pods on the alphafly.
When i sawed the peg 35 up you could see it was a similar tech but much smaller and thinner unit.
Thanks for tuning in. Stay safe 👍😊🏃♂️
@@EDDBUD Thank you for the explanations. Thanks stay safe too :)
Zoom Fly they just used too much React and the weight distribution was wrong
Yes the balance was off, a little less weight would have hit the spot. Thanks for watching and stay safe 👍🏼😊🏃🏻♂️
