Something similar happened to me. My new laptop was trying to have me disable S mode in a way that did not work properly or at all, for that matter. The tutorial showed me to set Microsoft Edge as the default browser and went on to say that this would allow me to download anything that I wanted to. (Third party apps etc.) Needless to say, this did not work at all. I then tried figuring out the issue myself and had no luck. Next, I searched on UA-cam, found this video and minutes later I had S mode completely disabled.
Yay! That took less than 2 minutes to do and more importantly it worked flawlessly! Thanks for making this informative video for all of us Win 11 users who were once stuck in s-mode. 😉
Are you sure someone didn't take your PC out of s-mode previously? Just a thought. Do a restart and make sure you are signed into your Microsoft account then go through the steps in this video again. If that doesn't work I would try searching for another instruction video on the subject (post your issue as a question in the comment section like you did here and/or Google the issue you are having. Hopefully you have found your way out of s-mode by now. Best of luck.

Anyway, now I can download whatever I want to. Thanks, man. Also, I like how you used OBS Studio as an example of something one may be attempting to download/install. That was literally the second program that I installed after I switched out of S mode. Thanks again.

My "learn more" icon stayed in the search bar, which was crazy. It printed a huge "Switch out of S mode" statement on the regular page, with no way to access it. Very frustrating. But I did spot it in the search bar. Thank you so much - I was about to lose my sh**

I think S mode mostly just forces people to use only Microsoft verified apps and Microsoft software. Even the tutorial that came into play, after I tried downloading something just tried having me set Microsoft Edge as the default browser. This did not work at all. Whelp looking at the comments this helped me determine a purchase decision on avoiding the Windows S Mode. Looks like a 50/50 chance it becomes a success/burden attempting this approach.

the s mode is only for security measures and it just enables you to download apps from the microsoft store. I don't think it will slow down your performance. :)

I keep getting a message to Try Again when I click GET
I ended up calling Microsoft and they walked me thru downloading windows again and it worked.

Does switching out of S mode makes you update a new version of windows 10 or it just works right away when you switch out?
I know that you did not ask me but it shouldn't force you to update anything and the effect is permanent also, it takes effect right away.
