Living in Florida, long term storage of root vegetables is a bit tricky. However, we can preserve our harvest by canning. In this video we go over how we preserve 100s of pounds of potato harvest in our kitchen.

We're a small family farm in the Florida Panhandle. After relocating back home from the Middle East we wanted to build up the most self- sufficient lifestyle possible with our kids, in order to grow as much of our own food as possible. Through raising livestock, tending to a garden, preserving food through canning and fermenting, learning about local fauna for medicinals and wild edibles, we are hoping to encourage others to do as much as possible for themselves through re-learning some of the forgotten "old" skills.

Thank you for sharing this video. Good to see you. Hope all is well with you and the family. Take care ❤
All is well
Nice land you got
Thank you
Could you build an above ground super insulated room to use like a root cellar?
It would need to be air conditioned
Thanks for sharing. Sounds interesting. Never heard of that. Some of the potatoes are looking very green. Is this type specific or are they already overriped?
I planted Austrian Creacent and French Fingerling this year. They did great
@@HiddenOaksHomestead Thanks for the info. I never planted potatoes on my own but will start so next year. Therefore I already bought some mortar buckets(?). Sadly I only have a 1800 square feed garden and not so much space. Very famous potatoes in Germany are Bamberger Hoernle, they are small but seem to be very tasty. I also like to try them in one or two of the buckets. Luckily I have a 200 year old cellar to store them.
I'm looking for employment. I could help in the kitchen.. what you think... great video... like always flawless...
How's the build coming?
@@HiddenOaksHomestead almost there. Painting now.. windows and doors are in. 2,500 square feet home in 4 months between two guys is pretty impressive don't you think?
I've always wanted to asked u about ur counter top. Is it wood? Rock? Concrete?
Dry canning potatoes is safe. It’s not recommended because the NCHFP has not tested it. Therefore, they cannot recommend.
I havent tried and tested
