Not every set will get an aftershow, but I like talking about where sets can go with small EQ. Get a Medusa on sale, small EQ, enjoy life.

I have that hard TRN case and its quite small on the inside. It's not "thick upgrade cable" friendly.
TRN does seem to be going all over the place lately with its tuning. They are not really developing a house brand sound. They are also not labelling/describing what each model is being tuned to in detail, so its good that sincere and skilled reviewers (like you) are here to help out. 🙏🏽👍🏽
I bought the TRN Conch and kept it for the amazing accessories.
TRN used to have a house sound and it sounds like Medusa..TRN V series sets sound closer to Medusa than Conch. But your point is valid, they are all over the map on MT, ST, and now sea life series. Planars? even weirder. So yeah, I get a couple TRN sets if I am lucky and watch others to see where TRN wanders in their sound signatures. Medusa was an outlier, they reached out to me and I wanted to hear it.

Eh, QC problems and TRN are old friends. I saw the same, and I think if you look at the reviews on Aliexpress, you see the same. I don't know if these are all visual problems or sound also. In any case, no need to jump in over fomo, Medusa is going to be around for a while as they sort out any build problems if there are problems.
I am curious about the st7 .
I looked at the graph and pass. I do have a friend who bought it and tried it for a few minutes, That was enough. TRN tends to cater to their domestic market with some sets and those tunings are harder to fit with Western music styles.
I just got mine today.
As Paul mentioned the graph does have a wonky peak at 2k and then the treble drops off.
It doesn't sound like anything else I have listened to being extremely mid focused.
For the price, unique tuning and a welcome change when I want to hear something different.
I have an st7. It's... ok, nothing special. I bought it hoping there would be good bass, 2DD in this IEM. At least it was cheap.

It’s not as bad actually, quite ‘full’ sounding, nice fat bass. Fit is very good.
Nice comparison with the Delci! Is the Medusa's bass as good as the Delci's?
What is the shell material? How is the fit?
The EQ Aftershow is helpful in visualizing the retuning possibilities!
I am going to say the shell is resin-ish, slightly different than older TRN material. I also think that is why they are having issues keeping the seam clean. Something going on there, but mine looks great. The balance is different, take Delci and boost the treble 2-3db. What was a warm and smooth set has more contribution from the upper and that is closer to Medusa. If you care more about bass, that is Delci even if the bass shelves are close. The balance will make them sound quite different.

Really appreciate The Aftershow segment. I really feel you can get so much mileage out of simple adjustments, especially from lower mid-range and mid bass.
Yes, the sets with a reasonable driver and a tuning not far from your preference, it takes a few minutes to improve the sound to you or get rid of that one area that doesn't sound right. Also trying to keep it simple, small strategic changes rather than 10 PEQ filters generated from AutoEQ.

Do you think the TRN cable is a good enough purchase to accompany the KZ/CCA earphones?

The advantage of sea serpent is the modular connectors. If you buy a dongle with 3.5mm and 4.4mm, you have a cable that is ready to go with either. Its a nice cable for the price and we saw the same ideas with TRN Conch. The IEM goes on sale and it is just over the price of the cable alone. Sea Serpent is fine as a cable, no need to buy a more expensive one unless you like the look of another.
I feel like you can tame the treble if you use dunu s&s eartips that have big bore diameter (maybe the new sancai ones too)
Yes, I haven't figured out how to address that but exactly what I said to someone earlier. If you look at the small changes in EQ, think about what tip would do that for you. You are 100% correct, but I don't mess with many tips, so I move sliders.
Definitely a unique look, good cable and case for 50 bucks too. Have you heard the tanchjim one 3.5 mm or dsp before it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Which of these have the better driver? TRN Medusa or Juzear Clear? Which sounds more technical and pleasing for bass etc? Or are they just way too different?
Clear has a crazy tuning, maybe the driver is super good, but a huge V will get in the way of hearing it. In that price range, Moondrop Lan and why other brands use Moondrop drivers.
My concern about TRN modular cables is shallow connection on module that can fall off when you tag on the cable (TRN T2/T3 Pro experience).
The earphones do look awesome. Younger audience will appreciate that, I think.
In the beginning they are tight but I can see what you mean. This Sea Serpent takes a lot of tugging to separate right now. In the age of 3.5 and 4.4 dongles, I appreciate including a modular even if it doesn't last a long time.
How does this go against ew200? is ew200 still a better buy
Yeah, EW200 or Conch if you want a general appealing set that is similar to lots of others. Medusa sounds a bit different. I have a couple friends who bought it and like it because it is slightly different from other similarly priced sets.

I wouldn't go that far and I had 2 iffy sets of VX Pro Red. I think if you have a perfect matched VX Pro, not going to beat it with a 1DD. But if you like TRN VX Pro, you will be familiar with Medusa.

Maybe, but it is their ocean theming so I thought the name Medusa was odd anyway. Same reason the cable is called Sea Serpent
