I’m not big into commercial aviation for my model building, but I am interested in this build. I’ve seen Zveda kits but know nothing of them, so it will be fun to see you build one. I was also married onboard, and inflight, an Alaska Airlines 737-800. So I have a soft spot for the -800. One of our wedding guests got a concussion when we hit some turbulence. He was unbuckled and he flew up and hit the overhead bin. I bet not many people can share a story like that about their wedding. :)
Oh wow, that is a very interesting and unique story. I have never heard of any wedding with concussion. I am sure nothing a couple of adult beverages could not fix. Richie
Do you think a beginner can build these kinds of models and pick these up? I've wanted to build one for a while, but I don't know the materials I need or where to start. Are the instructions easy to read?
Yes, airliners are few parts and cheap. Just don’t expect it to turn out super clean for a first time. It will take months/ years to build up your skills. Pick up a Zvezda narrow body kit and some Tamiya Extra thin glue. You can paint it with a rattle can and not an airbrush. Using something like TS-26 from Tamiya or even just gloss white from the hardware store. Just spray slow thin coats. Don’t try and cover it all in one go or you will get runs.
Hi Richie. Catching up on this build. I have never done an airliner. But if a kit comes with the clear windows. Isn't it easier to just mask them off by painting Maskol over the windows. More hassle doing each window maybe. But it would eliminate the need to use window decals and no putty and sanding.
I think easiest is to just use something like crystal klear or a pva glue, once fuselage is painted. Just dip toothpick in and fill each window. There is no interior so I always just fill and decal.
@@RWHobbies Good tip. Maybe I will do an airliner one day. But I am full of kits at the moment lol. I just had delivered today AMK's 1/48 F-14 D Tomcat (2021 version). Wow, that is some kit. The box is stuffed full of plastic. No ground weapons though. But it don't matter, because I will have some weapons left over from my Hobbyboss Super Hornet build that I can use.
Hi Richie, once again really enjoy your model building videos. Need some advice Richie going back to when you did the AA Boeing 737-800. I want to do Aeromexico Boeing 737-700 and it’s Silver. Would you spray your primer black then Silver over top? Thanks Richie for your advice. Cheers Don
Good video. I’m just returning to modelling airliners . The last time I built them I was probably 11 or 12 and it was mainly Airfix kits . Really interested in your treatment of windows and looking forward to see how you get rid of the join and get a smooth fuselage . I did start two Airfix 737s a few years ago in an effort to model the aircraft I used to see in the UK . They are still work in progress, but I have just bought Airfix reissued classic Trident and think I’ll build that one using decals supplied straight from box .
Hello, thanks for watching. Zvezda are the way to go for someone returning to doing them. They fall together and much better than Revell or Airfix. I have tried all kinds of things for the seam line. I have found sprue-goo is the best to create a seamless finish.. ua-cam.com/video/CJLN0jDIv-0/v-deo.html Richie

Interesting to hear a little bit about the history of your channel and store.
Oh this should be interesting. Never seen one of these builds. 👍
With milliput and the tamiya equivalent I found that wetting your fingers helps with kneading it and stop it sticking to your fingers

Yep, always black under metallics for shinny. If you want a chrome look, go gloss black
Thanks Richie. Is there somewhere I can email you if I have any other questions. At any rate thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Cheers

If only they'd do a Lockheed Constellation
I am sure the Heller kit of that is horrific! lol
