If you have parenthood and had your child and teen to acquire the manners trait, always use the Polite introduction you fill over half the bar which I think is better than cloud gazing. Also when you use polite introduction you automatically learn all their traits.
Building a snowpal, you can force any sim to be your friend: if they aren't doing something they can't refuse, it gives friendship but it can only be used during winter. But with that I was able to make my sims kid be best friends with Vlad and a max fame celebrity. My kid was having trouble making friends with Vlad, but then I tried building a snowpal, he didn't like the kid but still he accepted, after that I just started stargazing. The celebrity, I tried talking to her but I didn't pass the introduction, so i went do build a snowpal and the celeb was forced do participate, and I did that until we were best friends (I still couldn't talk to her, but that didn't stoped her to call me every night about some random party).

I end up going to city living events to greet everyone so I can get charisma up to earn the related relationship boost asap. That is, if I'm needing friends for a certain play through. Otherwise it's loner and talking to plants.
Mentoring also gives really quick relationship increases. Whether it's mentoring someone or asking someone to mentor you. Really, go take one trip to the Gym, hop on a treadmill or other fitness object and find the NPC assigned as the Gym Trainer and ask them to mentor your Sim. You'll end up as best friends really quick, along with the bonuses to skill gain that being mentored comes with.
I have a household with 7 Sims and getting them to actually make friends with others was oddly hard because they kept talking to each other and didn’t interact with anyone else
I don't think woohoo is as good as that big tv or modded games when it comes to fun! but yeah, you're right it's the single best fun + social builder activity otherwise. Just not for establishing relationships so much!

I wish we had a sims 2 free time style dlc for sims 4. Hobby enthusiasm combined with its interest system brought about so many new ways sims can get along or disagree, or even preform activities. With the enthusiasm too, theres no guarantee they will like it as much as someone who loves an activity, or even has interest in it
Ditto about group stories, I use them but they are frustrating to say the least its a one in three chance at best, if I kill any other interactions first time sometimes works, another time it bugs out and resets all sitting sims to a standing pose some time in the middle or end with zero gains like it just didn't count and the last third is if I dared to ask them to queue it up, it will never happen with other things queued, I also always have issues with welcome wagon, I need to kill any conversations to actually ask them in or they stand outside conversing till they give up. I think overall its just multitasking is a mess, like when they eat drink at the same time, no, even with mods that reportedly fix it, say you're at a restaurant, they queue up drink and eat automatically then proceed to gulp the drink until it is gone then drop the eating interaction, it gets old very fast, its not multitasking, its a predictable queue that goes wrong 100% of the time for me, it also means if I'm dining with a non-controlled sim they never eat the food, it sits there untouched. Drives me batty.
Yeah I want them to work so badly especially with great storyteller. I guess I'll figure out what conditions make it most likely to work. Unlike the photo thing others mentioned, it's actually balanced with the chance of failure.

Really fun content as always (: Wanted to share my minor friendship observation: while I was pursuing photographer job (playing with moschino staff), each time I shoot a model for job task, it gave me a huge boost to relationship with him/her. I think it was 25% or so. Haven't checked it on later add-ons though. Have you ever noticed that?

I allway start with the social skills. "Friend of the World" gives you Gregarious. When the Aspiration is done you have your Charisma maxed and can buy Incredibly Friendly. And all your Friends stay your Friends 'cause you are beloved. If you play a Supersim you should have socialy gifted and good manners. I love your channel! I've been playing these games regularly since the sims 2 days, but even so I've learned lots of cool and interesting things from these videos that I had no idea about until now. I've also never thought this much about how "wide but shallow" the sims 4 gameplay is, but you've really put into words more times than I can count why it can be so unsatisfying and repetitive after a while. I'm commenting on this video even though it's a few months old because it got me thinking that I wish friendships had a bigger impact the higher your relationship with someone is --- like maybe sims would get Sad or Tense if they haven't interacted with their BFFs for a while, but have a chance to become Happy after talking with certain people, especially if they have traits like Outgoing, Bro, or Good. And maybe they'd get a bigger boost to their Social and Fun needs when interacting with sims they have higher relationships with. It'd also be nice to get more calls just to chat instead of being invited to other lots all the time (*shakes fist* loading screens!) And if you don't talk to your spouse for a whole week, maybe have it be a little harder to work up to Pleasant Conversation, because hey, where have you been?! We live in the same house! Little changes like that would make the world a bit deeper and give us a reason to actually maintain relationships, and the added (or detracted, like if they're Evil for example) benefits from certain traits would add some depth as well. Anyway, this got long, but in short: thank you for all the fun and interesting content, and for encouraging people to think about what's great about the sims and what could be better. I always get a laugh from your videos!
Someone mentioned the photography studio. It isn't even that deep... just take a couple pics of anyone with even your phone. Totally fool-proof. P.S. don't tell EA, no doubt they'll "fix" that too

When making a Super Sim recently, I had a bit of trouble during childhood, because of an annoying technicality in the kid social aspiration. It says you need to make a friend in the first tier. Just a friend though, good friends don't count for some reason. So my super kid, with really just the "favored club" perk and tiny living micro lot relationship boost filled the bar 100% on a friendly introduction. So I had to disband the club and make friends the old fashioned way for that aspiration. Once he aged up though, I grabbed the friend of the world aspiration almost immediately and then had 20 friends at 100% friendship that would never decay, all from just saying hi.
Bestest way to make friends: gym equipment + tv + casual chat = friendship guaranteed. Ask a gym trainer to mentor you to get an extra friendship on the side without even greeting the trainer. The original gym in Oasis Springs is perfect for that.
Obviously the best way to gain friendship is to take pictures together. if you do this 3 times (15 photos total) you can turn an empty bar full. it's so op
Have you tried taking pictures of other sims? When i tried it, taking pictures (especially with the tripod) SKYROCKETED the relationship to the point where taking 10~15 pictures quickly maxes the relationship bar. i dont know if its just on my end, but if it isnt its kind of hilarious merry christmas!
They should probably only count for one, but it's not even reported as a bug (unless I'm missing something, searched for selfie photo relationship friendship etc). With so many real bugs that cause real problems, I see why no one dared to complain. I don't personally want to take 5 pictures and gain friendship when it's meant to let you pick the correct angle.. but it's not in anyone's interest to report it when so many other things need improvement.

I know you will have a guide on it but do you have a video about lowering the sad mode fast? I ask seeing as my Sim wife and kids were sad about the death of her (per-made Sims) Father. I was down to 8 to 12 hours left (there times were a little mixed) when her Mother died and I was/am back to 2 days of sad times.
If they’re teen or above, they can call the sadness hotline to lower the time left on the sadness buff. Kids and toddlers can be ‘comforted’ by their caregiver, which halves the time left on the sadness buff each time. Hope this help! 😊
My sims fed themselves to the cowplants when they were grieving. I guess that's one way to fix it. You end up with a shelf of "essence of sadness", but your sims feel drained rather than sad.
There is a much faster way. You need 4 sims and the card table with the jenga like game. The one that comes with the 4 chairs already in place. Have them all play. And in no time they will all be best friend ready.
The computer is good for chatting with acquaintances, also calling them on the phone at a reasonable hour. Invite acquaintances to your home and give them good food. It is time consuming but a lazy way to make friends, with the computer.
Cloudgaze is not good. Photography is the best. Just about 5 selfies, you are good. Anyway, nowadays, I use Fame, Besties Friendly introduction or I use the Polite Introduction that my Sims earned as a good child.
A need i hate in this game is bathing. I dunno if anyone else have it like me, but my sim need literally 1,5 sim hour on speed 3. But when i leave it on speed 1 they go less than 1 sim hour??

Hey Carl, Merry Christmas 🎄, well since this video is about making Sims friends in Sims 4, I been kind of playing 100 baby and have many children in my house at one time I have found that my children become friends easily because they often talk to one another. In fact many of them are BFF with the younger toddlers.

I found that photography is a good way to make friends fast.

Or buying a camera and then taking about 15-20 pictures and you’ve pretty much maxed out friendship.

The group story interaction seemed pretty useless in my early games when trying to get a gold on an event, and I avoid it now.
There is also a friendly trait bought with aspiration points that gives a huge boost when meeting someone new

Use your phone to 'take photo of.......' You go straight to friendship. Its a great fast way to gain a friend ;)
Another thing you can do to have fun is pets.
You can get around 40% fun with one interaction, and 200 satisfaction points a couple times a day.
If you take a picture og someone you gain looots of friendship!
A bicycle will shoot fun up about that fast. And you increase athletic skill.
The soccer ball is also good for fun gain and athletics, but not quite as fast as the bike. It's cheaper, though.
I use the radio from Get Famous or the loud as heck Earbuds from Fitness to keep them topped up during long activities.

Yep, it renames based on time of day - it's just usually seen in the wild as 'cloudgazing' and I myself have got it stuck that way in my mind :)

The computer is good for chatting with acquaintances, also calling them on the phone at a reasonable hour. Invite acquaintances to your home and give them good food. It is time consuming but a lazy way to make friends, with the computer.

Use the $10000 computer to play game gets the fun up in seconds.
Cloudgaze is not good. Photography is the best. Just about 5 selfies, you are good.
Anyway, nowadays, I use Fame, Besties Friendly introduction or I use the Polite Introduction that my Sims earned as a good child.

A need i hate in this game is bathing. I dunno if anyone else have it like me, but my sim need literally 1,5 sim hour on speed 3.

Hey Carl, Merry Christmas 🎄, well since this video is about making Sims friends in Sims 4, I been kind of playing 100 baby and have many children in my house at one time I have found that my children become friends easily because they often talk to one another. In fact many of them are BFF with the younger toddlers.
